I wrote a 2 year contract with CCIS (California Contractors Insurances Services) for a $25,000 Contractors Bond. CCIS sub-let the contract to Hudson Surety. Hudson decided to go out of business 3 months before our contract ended. I made several attempts to have CCIS make me whole and cover me for the 3 months but to no avail. Hudson paid CCIS $20.13 to cover the 3 months. I have ask CCIS to send me the $20.13 so I could purchase the required bond elsewhere, but they have stopped communicating with me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CCIS. I WONDER IF CCIS WOULD HAVE PAID THE BOND IF I HAD CALLED FOR IT. read more

I had insurance from another company with no claims and a clean record. I was trying this insurance company for a month. After that, a lady who didn't have anything to do called me. We always receive many robo calls and annoying phone calls. When someone called me without requesting it or annoying me, I would play with them because I hadn't requested them. After that, my insurance was canceled. I don't recommend this company. Stay away and don't waste your time. We don't have time to entertain robo calls or people who don't have anything to do and only disturb us with calls after we've already signed a contract. Good luck . There are many insurance companies with lower prices. Fortunately, I do have another policy and I pay three times less.s read more

2nd year renewal process, had to call and email numerous times over a month to get the renewal. I had to request needed Certificates of Liability 3 times last year to get a correct form(s), and we're starting off the same. Not to mention the policy is 50% higher than last year with no explanation. Probably need to get a couple more quotes before next renewal. Not sure I would recommend. read more

I had a really frustrating experience with CCIS Insurance in Sacramento. Getting anyone to respond was like pulling teeth--emails and calls went unanswered for days, and turnaround times were painfully slow. When I finally got quotes after two weeks, they were 2-3 times higher than what I found from other providers for the same coverage. Overall, it felt like they weren't interested in earning my business. I've had much better service elsewhere. read more

Stopped using them. We had a circumstance where we had to add money to increase our bond. Fine, that happens. CCIS said they would assist us with this. Good, I appreciate that, this is what a broker should do. So we paid the money. CSLB contacted us stating our license was being suspended for no bond. Long story short, CCIS did not turn over the money we gave them, to the bond issuer. This put our company, livelihood and the jobs of 30 people at direct risk. This took multiple calls and even threats to sort out (the bond issuer company person who helped me was helpful and sympathetic, and said this was not the first call they had gotten about this broker doing this). This is not the type of behavior that one can tolerate in a bond broker at all. It was shocking actually. I found a different broker. read more

I strongly recommend not using California Contractors Insurance Services. In order to solve a sequencing problem with the California state licensing board, I needed a short-term bond to remain compliant with the agency. When shopping for a short-term bond, the California Contractors Insurance Services representative recommended that I purchase a long-term bond; then, when the bond was no longer required, the agent explained that I should cancel the bond to receive a pro-rated refund. I was comfortable with his plan and purchased the bond. As advised, when the bond was no longer required, I cancelled the bond; however, California Contractors Insurance Services now wanted to charge fees that exceeded the pro-rated refund, basically consuming the payment. As a former Naval officer, aviator, and fighter weapons instructor I understand the importance of responsibility and credibility; California Contractors Insurance Services exhibits none of these traits. A California Contractors Insurance Services representative recommended this process for my situation; and, he knowingly sold me the bond while detailing a pro-rated refund process. The California Contractors Insurance Services manager was unhelpful. I recommended that she contact her salesman and we could discuss the problem. She declined. Fortunately, this was a small financial transaction; my primary motive was to move this process forward as expected and not be pushed around by this company. In short, I do not recommend using California Contractors Insurance Services. I tried to encourage them to take responsibility, they failed. If my company were to ever have a problem, California Contractors Insurance Services would be the last company that I would want by my side. read more
