Terrible Terrible Terrible! I was there a week ago to sell CDs. Prior to coming, I spoke with a guy who informed me that they buy cd's from $1-$3 each. I informed him I had over 100 CD's, a lot of them still brand new and a lot of them imports from other countries. I explained to them I am moving, and didn't want to bring hem along. I actually added the majority of them to my library on iTunes. Long story short, the guy who works in the back is extremely rude. After waiting for about an hour, he offered me 40 bucks for all of my CDs! I told him to hand them back over, I rather just give them away! I think he may have actually kept some. Little does he know, I have a list of all my cd's in alphabetical order. I plan to go through them, and if any are missing, he will definitely hear from my lawyer! If you're looking for a CD that you can't find anywhere, regardless of the genre of music or the original release date, chances are CDepot has it. I discovered this place many years ago. As long as it's been there, there are probably still many people that don't know about it. That's because it's easy to miss if you drive up or down Route 1 in College Park. And this is not a big chain by any means, so there is only one other location (which I've never been to)--in Towson. But as I said, this place has everything. It's a music lover's dream. If they ever don't have a CD that I'm looking for, it's not because they don't carry it (like many popular stores like Target, Best Buy, etc)--it's just that they happen to be sold out at the time. I love CDepot, I've been here multiple times and always spend way too much money there. And I'm not alone, every time I go there there's always people there. It's fairly well organized, but the big issue I found last time was that there were bunches of records and and other things in front of a lot of the CD displays. It's only been the one time; I hope they fix it the next time I'm there. Not that it'll stop me, I always find things (especially out of print CDs) to buy. read more

I recently went in there to sell my used CDs. I was greeted at the door and when the host said "oh, you have way more than I thought," I should have realized I was in trouble. I'd brought 140 CDs to sell. She sent my CDs back and told me I'd have to remain in the store while the "sellers" determined if my CDs were usable and if they wanted them for their inventory. 45 minutes later, I went back and they told me they could only use 2, yes 2, of the CDs and that the rest were all too damaged. They gave me 4 dollars. Needless to say, the next day, I took a smaller number of CDs to the Soundgarden in Fell's Point. Out of 21 discs, they purchased 15. So, if you're looking to sell your music. Don't bother with CD Depot, they either don't care or are too lazy to really take stock of your selection. Head elsewhere; like Soundgarden. And, while in Fell's you can grab a beer with your money afterward! read more

Great selection of CDs. They recently added Records and Videos DVDs/Blu-Ray in the last few years. They have alot of hard to find stuff that you would normally have to order on the Internet. Since they added the records, its gotten a bit cluttered and sometimes uncomfortable trying to reach items that are fartherest away near the wall. Its hard to return items. For example I returned a CD that was skipping in my car but played in there system, they wouldn't take it back. The staff isn't particuliarly friendly. But overall I enjoy the store and can spend quite a bit of time looking around and trying to find stuff I don't have. I recomend the store since it's getting increasingly difficult to find music in the physical format because of mp3 downloading. read more

During a recent business trip to Maryland I happened to run into this excellent record store being just about half mile away from the hotel I was staying at. By far it is the most assorted record store I've ever visited with a vast collection of classic rock vinyls which is the genre I'm interested in. You can keep yourself within the $4.99 to $9.99 price range and you'll walk out of there with well kept records, including the sleeves, that you're going to re-fall in love with because of the way they sound. For the record, when I got back home I realized I'd traveled thru 3 airports and flown in two different airplanes with a carry-on bag loaded with 52 vinyls I bought at CDepot in two consecutive days. read more

The name CDepot seems a little inauspicious for vinyl hunting, but don't be fooled. This store has a lot to offer vinyl lovers. As others have noted, the organization scheme is... well it isn't a scheme, as such. They have a lot of bargin boxes, a row of unsorted new arrivals, and then the typical divisions (jazz, rock, blues, etc.) that you'd expect. I spent three hours looking through just about everything, and I bought a lot of stuff. In fact, I left behind a number of things I'm regretting (a Stooges record... an X record...). They also have a "good stuff" bin behind the counter. This is ostensibly the more collectable stuff. Priced accordingly. read more

This shop is old-school, and awesome. Great selection, plenty of character to the store, and no Bieber on the stereo (and no wanna-be-Biebers asking you what you're looking for). I like the used selection, but they've gotten plenty of new stuff, and vinyl. I won't buy music anywhere else. read more

I just had a good experience selling CDs here. I brought in about 70 CDs and they bought 55 of them and paid me $75. Of course, what they pay is driven by customer demand and their current inventory, and they're not necessarily going to pay that much for every batch of 55 CDs. (Of course, they could pay even more for the right stuff.) But their payment compared very well with what online places like Second Spin and Decluttr offered, and I didn't have to deal with the hassle, uncertainty, and possible cost of shipping them. All in all, a great experience. I can't, however, offer any evaluation of how good a place this is to BUY CDs, since my goal was to purge my home of the pesky little discs. read more

This place is a joke!!!! They never seem to be actually buying stuff and when they do, they're awful. I went in on a Sunday morning to see if I could sell some stuff. They told me the owner was not in yet and if I could come back in an hour, he'd be there to look through it. I go get lunch and come back an hour later at which point I am told to wait another hour. Then I come in an hour after that as which point the owner comes up to me and nastily says he doesn't know what he's supposed to be buying but if I leave my stuff there, he'll have someone look through it the next day. This is after being told that the OWNER was the one who buys stuff. Yet I agree because they SAY they pay top dollar for your stuff. I call the next day fairly late in the afternoon (2:30), get put on hold for 5 minutes and then get told the guy looking through my stuff will call in half an hour. I do not receive a call until 4:45. Upon arriving to the store, he offers me $120 for around 200 DVDs, which include 3 Blu Ray copies of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a Game Of Thrones season, ETC. I take the offer because I want this stuff out of my house but that is a real low ball of an offer. On the 4 things I mentioned alone, they'll be making $100 easily. Also, the cashier was wearing a pullover that literally says "I woke up late because I don't want to be here." Shows you how much they want to make the customer feel welcome and comfortable. At least I know that I am never stepping foot in here again. Oh well, I've sold to them in the past when they don't rip people off and still make money and I have bought from them many times. This is the only place I buy CD's from, they have everything and I mean everything, and unless it's a box set or an extremely rare import, I have never paid more than $12 for a CD, which in this age of corporate music feeling that $20 is a reasonable price for a CD, is enough to make one think purchasing legally isn't all that bad. Growing up in the area, this was my go to place for good music and to offload CD's I no longer wanted. The staff is friendly and knows their stuff. read more

Very surprising to read the reviews about bad customer service; over the years, every single time I've been in the store or called up about a particular item (and some of the recordings/movies I look for are unusual, to say the least), the employees have been helpful and courteous. I like coming to this place because they have a large selection, but may I suggest the Sound Garden in Baltimore. The Sound Garden has a good selection that is cheaper than CDepot. This store has some used CD but they try to push their regularly priced $14.99 cds, which you can get at Borders or Best Buys for that price. However, you can usually find some out-of-print stuff at a reasonable price. Also, the store is disorganized and unclean. read more

This review only applies to selling CDs at this store. I had a horrible experience recently trying to sell CDs here. Their website touts their interest in buying CDs, but it doesn't mention they don't buy at all on Sundays, and any other day, when selling, you're supposed to make an appointment. I had 3.5 boxes of CDs to sell, called to see what their buying hours were, then called again an hour later to tell them again that I'd be coming, and to verify that someone would be on hand to take care of the buy. Yet, when I arrived a half hour later, the cashier told me no one was authorized to make purchases that day. When I asked to speak to a manager, the manager tried to talk to me via intercom from the back of the store. She was too lazy to walk to the front of the store and look me in the eye! In the end, she came up front to talk me, tried to tell me that an employee had given me bad information, and then asked me why she couldn't have given me that same information via phone from the back of the store. When I told her that I couldn't believe she was that lazy, she told me she couldn't f'ing believe me, and moped off towards the back of the store. Unbelievable! read more

Drove all the way from baltimore on two occasions shouldve learned after the first trip when i got all the way there with 800 albums was told to come and they would take care of me.first time they didnt even look at bothing told me they didnt have time.today i went with 450 cds was told by the owner last night they would look out for me.i use to sell on amazon like they do so i know they do well.i go all the way up there again and they tell me its going to take all day,so i told them the owner told me for both of them to look at them.so after sitting there for a hr waiting they come up and say we can give you 40.00 for all the cds now keep in mind some of these are goi g on amazon for 12 and 15 a pop so i figured they would at least offer me a dollar each.what a joke brian the old owner always took care of everyone.this place is a joke just like the one on loch raven.soundgarden looks out for you so thats where these 450 cds are going and so will all the vinyl cds and dvds i get.i wish i couldve rated no stars because i would.everyone take your items to soundgarden so you dont get screwed read more
