Orientation consists of the students sitting around a conference table as each instructor comes in and tells horror stories of things that can happen on the road. There was no class schedule or agenda for any given day. We did not know what we were going to be doing until we were doing it. There was no overall plan conveyed. No feedback given. One day after lunch my group stood around for 2 plus hours waiting for our instructors to figure out what we were doing. We were told to be there at 6:30AM every day, but didn't leave the office until 7:30 or 8:00. Every instructor taught everything differently. I was taught the Pre-Trip inspection 3 different ways from 3 different instructors. I watched them move students from 1 truck to another, no consistency. Had one instructor that insisted on smoking while teaching us. At one point, our class of 16 was mixed in with another class of 9 halfway through the course. There was 10 students spread between 2 trucks and 2 instructors at the backing yard. I watched as 1 student, who was in the middle of performing his first successful offset backing, get stopped by his instructor and pulled out of the truck to leave in another. Everyone in my class had their tests rescheduled if not once, but multiple times. Students were forced to test in trucks that they were not familiar with and the even had different length of trailers. Spent a grand total of 5 minutes in their simulator. Instructors tell you that 95% of the trucks on the road are automatic transmissions, yet Excel has a grand total of 1 in their fleet. They insist on trying to train people how to drive a standard transmission that have never even done so in a car. Now lets get to the safety aspect or lack thereof. We were forced to perform pre-trip inspections while parked along a busy frontage road. No signs anywhere on the truck that says student driver. On day 2, with zero drivetime behind the wheel, I sat in the sleeper cab and watched as a 23 year old that had never even driven a standard transmission before, be required to drive in rush hour traffic on I76 to go to the backing yard. Our instructor got us lost numerous times while a student was driving, once having a student drive through narrow residential streets. Instructor having us turn right when he meant left and vice versa. At one point even had a student turn down a dead end road. Had a tire blow out on the trailer in the middle of nowhere and had to sit on the side of the road for 3 hours. After the course was done I reached out to some of the students in my class and found out that 13 of the 16 students failed their 1st test. That tells me its not the students, its the instruction.

Highly recommended, great hands on teacher who does not mince words if and when you screw up and explains to you what happened and why you skidded out of control. We feel a little safer now and this was important for our kids to learn too.

So I decided to take the class to learn how to drive safely in snowy/icy weather. Michal was very knowledgeable and I learned a ton. The first part of the class involved watching informational slides as he talked and some videos of scary accidents. The actual driving portion was super fun! You get to practice how to handle different types of skidding, and Michal would give you notes on what went wrong and how to correctly navigate. I was not very good at first, but after doing it over and over again, it felt more like second nature by the end of class. I'd highly recommend this class!

Update: More reason not to trust this company. I was offered a 50% refund, but instead of processing the refund they waited to contact me again till it was almost a week later and a federal holiday. I was then told that the refund would be processed as soon as I took down my review. I refuse to be manipulated like this though so instead of getting $150 back I'm updating my review so hopefully others won't have the same horrible experience I did. While the company keeps saying sorry to me their actions just get worse.

Just gave me a very good vibe about the whole school. No egos from management no fancy offices just real good people taking care of customers. It felt like a family, so I came here on Friday to schedule a test for my manual, My CDL has a restriction. When I showed office was busy about 6 people in the office coming and going, Julie is the office manager she took everyone very seriously, I was scheduled right away for testing (You can only test after 14 days from your permit so before you call to test go to the DMV and ask for a permit) I met Steve and Julie they were professional, knowledgeable and engaged. This is really unfortunate as we wanted to use this company. I purchased what I thought was the…read moredriving course along with the test and the six hour class online however, even after entering my credit card after two times I received only a registration saying that I had not paid. I called the company to make the payment over the phone and they let me know that I was only selected for the four day course but that didn't include the drive test or the six hour behind the wheel driving they told me I could upgrade from $260-$700 and get all of that. I paid the $700. Right after I had paid my husband told me that our son doesn't even need the excessive package as he is 15 1/2 and won't receive his drivers license until he's 16 1/2, so it's not required. It's unfortunate that top cops did not inform us of him not even needing the classes they had us pay for it. It's also unfortunate that when I called 12 hours later to get a refund since he doesn't need any of this, they said that there is a $175 refund fee. I would not suggest this driving school to anyone as I feel. They are very unreasonable. They should have informed us of what was truly needed per our son's age and they also should've refunded us since it wasn't even 12 hours after we discovered that what they registered for wasn't required.
