Let me tell you about the Tawook Sandwich, this thing is something special. The garlic spread they use combined with perfectly seasoned chicken, pickles, and just the right amount of crispy french fry tucked inside makes it one of the best things I have ever eaten. I'm not exaggerating. It's the kind of bite that stops you mid-conversation because you just need a moment to appreciate it. The shish kabob platter was equally incredible, the steak was impossibly tender and packed with deep, rich flavor. My family and I had dinner tonight at Cedar and Olive Mediterranean in Jacksonville and it was absolutely incredible. Every single dish we ordered was outstanding. The lentil soup was rich and comforting, and the falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. For our mains we had the steak, chicken, and beef kafta, and all three were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. You can truly taste the freshness and quality in everything they serve. It's rare to find a place where every dish at the table is this good. If you're in Jacksonville, you absolutely have to try this place. If I had to base this experience just on the service and staff....they'd have a 5 star or higher! The location is convenient, not far from the beach...in a strip plaza. The place has some seats inside, it is more like a take out experience, but we were there to also check out the holiday lights at the beach so it was a sit-in experience for us. We ordered an app, the falafel and little fixins, which were good, but a bit overdone. The salad was great. And both items were shared. We each also had an entree, I think we both had the fish! It was cooked properly but had a little too much char in the flavor. I would order it again...but hopefully it wouldn't be quite as "charred". Otherwise, super friendly service! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY... The food here is delicious. Once you walk inside, the deliciousness aroma greets your nostrils, to the point you would want to order the whole menu. Aroma ambience. The wife and I came here for lunch. First off looking at the menu, the food is pricey but do not allow that to deter you. As the old adage goes, "you get what you paid for" and trust me your taste buds will thank you. We ordered the Tawook Platter and Kafta Kabob Platter. I enjoyed every last bite. The food was made fresh. Tasted fresh. Their Toum (garlic sauce) is enough for me to want to come back. It was so good. From what I was told, the Toum is made fresh in-house. Service wise, we had to wait a little longer for the food as they were made fresh to order but trust me it was worth the wait. I literally never do this. But I ordered a carry out lunch for a work linch I hosted today. The order was ready on time and packed nicely which is always great. But above that, the food was excellent!! I had a kabob pita with hummus and a side of tabbouleh. The steak was awesome so tender and high quality. The tabbouleh delicious and crunchy fresh and the hummus creamy and flavorful. It's a little pricey but I got two full meals out of my entree. The smoothies are super good too!!! Just what Jax Beach needed! A yummy fast casual Mediterranean vibe with yummy food. Wednesday night at 7 was packed! But luckily they had a couple seats at their window area. Food came out in stages. My husbands wrap took a little while but they kept us up to date and gave us a free dessert to compensate. He said the wrap was to die for and had his happy dance going as he ate. Food was great. Got the grilled chicken, which usually I am afraid to get in case it's bland. Not here. The chicken was super hot and fresh off the grill. Juicy and flavorful. It came with a garlic sauce, which seemed similar to Toum. Not too garlicky. The Fattoush salad was really good and a lot of food and flavors. We also tried the baba ghanouj, and it was delicious! They seem pretty new, so they're still working out some kinks. One suggestion would be to put out a free water dispenser so people can have free tap water. (1928 Cuban bistro has a good setup to check out if anyone who works there reads this.) They did have drinks for purchase in a cooler and gave us a bottle of water for free when we asked for water. But I'm not sure how sustainable this would be for them to continue doing. Any hiccups or bumps were easy to overlook because the people working there are so nice and friendly. They gave us free pita refills. Always came by to make sure our food was out and to our liking. Someone was stuffing the grape leaves by hand. The cook told us he makes the garlic spread every morning. It seems like a family operation, and they showed us so much hospitality, I had to rush to write a review when I got home. After that first bite, I really thought everything else was going to be just as good, especially based on all the great reviews. Unfortunately, the falafel sandwich was dry and basically had no flavor. Same with the fish sandwich -- it just didn't have any seasoning or taste. Pretty disappointing considering how fantastic the soup was. To their credit, the owners were very kind and offered to bring me something else. I declined, but I did let them know the soup was amazing. I appreciated their willingness to make it right, but the food overall didn't match the expectations set by the reviews.
