Stayed here over a long weekend. I HIGHLY recommend! My only qualm is that it's quite expensive, especially for the room we stayed in (which was expected), but I feel like there are aspects that should've been included for the price. That aside, I would come back here in a heartbeat. Beautiful grounds, clean, kind and welcoming staff, delicious food, and dog friendly! If you're looking for a cozy escape from the city, this is the place. We stayed in the Lakeside cottage, which I highly recommend. Room was perfection - the wood fireplace was exactly what I wanted. Food was delicious. Breakfast buffet every morning was the best buffet I've ever had. My only con is that I feel like some of the things should've been included in the price versus having an extra fee. For example, there's a movie night option but it costs $45 per person... (though it comes with popcorn + candy). I feel like the movie viewing should be free. There's also an option for their "famous" breakfast buns that cost $7 per bun. Not an unreasonable cost, but since you're already paying a daily fee for food it seems like something like this should be included. read more

I planned a corporate retreat here with one of my internal teams. I cannot say enough about this property. The cottages are gorgeous. The food is outstanding and the staff is second to none!! Incredible experience and highly personalized service. Very all-inclusive, with tons of activities and beautiful nature to enjoy. The grounds and landscape are just stunning. We stayed in their Garden Suite and it was wonderfully cosy with just the right mix of rustic charm but also modern amenities and conveniences like a kitchen setup and updated bathroom. The staff is incredibly sweet and always willing to help provide suggestions and even remembered our names. Meals are part of the package and the food is incredible and so fresh! Truly farm to table dining, and very high end quality and plating. On par with any top notch fine dining restaurant. Each day featured unique new dishes (except breakfast options which was mostly consistent except for daily special) and in particular their salads were super crisp and fresh. Activity wise it is truly a fantastic spot for a variety of outdoors events -- from hiking, to boating on the lake, to recreational sports like tennis or basketball. Never had a shortage of activities to engage with. It's pricey but it's a very stress-free all-inclusive experience so you can focus on what matters -- enjoying your vacation. My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Cedar Lakes for our anniversary after eyeing photos of it on social media for months and we cannot get over the experience we had there. The staff: The staff at cedar lakes went ABOVE and beyond. We arrived at the property and were immediately handed champagne with berries in it. We were given a welcome packet and found out that they surprised us with an upgrade right off the bat. We walked into our newly assigned cabin and were blown away. The staff left us a beautiful greeting card that wished us a happy anniversary and delicious chocolates to snack on. We had the best conversations with the employees throughout our stay. Everything we said in passing was taken to heart. We had a conversation with the bar manager about growing up and eating apple cider donuts and then woke up the next day to them at our table. We spoke to a bartender about our love of battleship and got back to the room after our hike to it waiting for us on the table. Everyone was great, but the treehouse staff in particular really made a difference in our stay. Special shout-out to the game night team and Hans the bartender. The food: The food was STELLAR. Each new meal was better than the last. My boyfriend and I both have some really confusing dietary needs and CLE made sure they were being met. We were always satisfied at the end of each meal. The drinks were equally impressive! The cabins: Comfy, spacious and clean! Housekeeping came 2x a day, and left chocolate on our pillows for us at night. The room was well stocked with drinks and snacks that were priced appropriately (not like typical mini bars). The TV was a smart tv and we had access to Hulu, Netflix, Disney plus etc. They even left us bowls and a bed for our dog to use! The beds were so comfortable too, and the linens were great! If you are looking to stay here with your family, the larger cabins are fantastic and offer a great balance of privacy and shared space! The property: Even on gloomy days, the beauty of the property still came through. The buildings were well kept and decorated beautifully. The Campfires and fireplaces were always lit which we loved! There were endless board games to take advantage of, and the complimentary activities were fantastic! We loved taking advantage of the private hiking trails, the tennis courts, the curling and game room. The property is amazing and the staff is fantastic. Dropping the star as the food is hit and miss and everything is wayyyyy overpriced.

Highlights: Terrible COVID-19 enforcement; beautiful grounds; friendly, accommodating staff; glamping; excellent baked goods; 3-star average buffet-style food; bad liquor and wine selections; and morally and ethically corrupt management that tried to make money off a personal tragedy (more below) Overview: Cedar Lakes Estate is set on a beautiful property with plenty of outdoor things to do. You can go swimming or boating in the small lake, hiking, or sit in an adult-sized pool that's 3 feet high and impossible for social distancing. If you're a family, you'll enjoy Cedar Lakes if you aren't worried about potentially catching COVID-19 as they absolutely do not manage it to the degree it should be managed. (More below) Accommodations: If you're expecting an all-inclusive 5-star resort experience, don't. The experience is luxury glamping if staying in the Sleepy Pines cottages due to the "filtered mountain water" that runs through all the taps. There's a consistent sulfurous/rotten egg smell that lingers in the cottages and can become overwhelming after a rainfall. The cottages' electrical design was also poorly thought out as there is not enough amperage to actually power all electronics in cottages that have a shared wall -- expect extremely dim, poor lighting if the cottage next to yours is occupied. Also expect to hear pretty much everything in the next cottage as the walls have no insulation between them. Regardless of what their site says, DON'T expect to be housed next to max 2 people for the king sized rooms: we were stuck for a week next to a family with 2 children who would wake us up at night with their cries. CLE staff will be happy to provide you with ear plugs to manage this issue, but make sure to have your expectations managed more appropriately: NOT good for couples at all. The space itself is beautifully designed but we found ourselves wishing for more storage space. No iron or ironing board nor steamer, so bring your own. Plenty of outlets throughout the room and a flat screen TV. They can provide you with a Roku if the room does not have one (ours didn't.) The bed was wonderful with a soft, feather-down pillow and medium firm king sized mattress. If you sleep hot, you should request a blanket ahead of time as they provide a very thick feather-filled duvet. The WiFi in the cottages is unbelievably slow and you definitely won't have any reception, so expect to have a lot of frustration if you're trying to stream or do any kind of WiFi-dependent work in your cottage. COVID-19: No matter what CLE says about their commitment to COVID-19 management, in practice, they actually do a really terrible job. We witnessed staff walking up to guests within 3 feet, have had to ask staff repeatedly to step back and provide 6 feet of social distancing. They do not ask guests to social distance. THEY DO NOT ASK GUESTS TO WEAR MASKS EVEN WHEN UNMASKED GUESTS ARE NEAR OTHER UNAFFILIATED GUESTS. They allow children to run around WITHOUT MASKS ON both inside and outside the Pavilion despite the fact that children are shown to be some of the largest super-spreaders. Hand sanitizer is also only available in certain spots and missing in others - no hand sanitizer by the lakeside, pool, hammocks, picnic tables, or any communal chairs. The only hand sanitizers that we saw available were at the reception desk and the Pavilion. At mealtimes, the staff also have to hand you your plate of food directly, which puts you within 3 feet of one another. NO social distancing. If you, like us, booked a week at Cedar Lakes because you were under the impression that you'd be receiving breakfast delivered to your door, that apparently changed sometime between when we booked and when we arrived. Essentially, you are forced to go to the Pavilion for all meals, with picnic tables spaced 6 feet apart. (Note that the TABLETOPS are 6 feet apart - not the benches or the walkways between tables. There is NOT 6 feet between the benches, so they're expecting that you will not turn around without a mask on.) NO staggered mealtimes or properly spacing people out. They maximized the amount of people they could cram into a space. The entire resort was also at FULL CAPACITY which is honestly staggeringly shocking. Corrupt Management: We lost an engagement ring. They told us we would need to pay $65/per hr per staff member to ask for help to look for it cuz they'd need to bring extra staff in. We found out from multiple staff that they make nowhere close to that. Essentially, management wanted to make money off our tragedy. Which frankly, is morally and ethically bankrupt and corrupt. Activities: Add-on private dinner and mountaintop experience were both amazing. Would recommend investing in those. We had a great server for the dinner. Mountaintop was beautiful, but didn't make up for the corrupt management who tried to make money off our loss. P.S. The granola was amazing. Great staff. Terrible management. read more

First thing's first: Ignore the negative review by KS Y. My friend and I heard the staff's side of the story, and it was clear that the guest lost the engagement ring on their own accord (in the middle of the woods/by the hiking trail!) and the staff had already spent hours assisting to find it before asking for compensation for additional time. Cedar Lakes Estate actually did an incredible job with their COVID-19 enforcement. This was my first "trip" outside of NYC since the beginning of the pandemic, and I could not have felt more safe. Both staff and fellow guests were considerate with social distancing and masking up, hand sanitizer was available everywhere, and everything was impeccably clean--from the cabin to the dishware to the canoe oars. I greatly appreciated all of the different outdoor activities available: paddle-boating, tennis, hiking, mountaintop yoga, pumpkin carving, the farmer's market, the list goes on and on. The management and staff were SO accommodating and beyond friendly (seriously, do not listen to KS Y). The food for every meal was delicious, and there IS the option to "take out" should you choose to eat in your cabin. Loved the canteen for complimentary snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) throughout the day. The property is truly gorgeous, and I miss it already. I can't really speak for the cottages here, because I attended a wedding on the grounds and didn't stay there. I can, however, speak to the events and general grounds. This is one of those reviews that sounds like: "Everything was great, except for one specific thing that ruined the experience." And honestly, almost everything was great! We attended a wedding weekend, but stayed at a hotel about 20 minutes away since we didn't really think we were cabin people. So we were on the grounds for lunch, the ceremony, the reception and brunch the next day. And the grounds are beautiful! The lake was peaceful, the scenic overlook where they held the actual ceremony was lovely with views that stretched on for miles, and the grounds have a nice balance of built up, but with a few pleasant buildings that don't overwhelm the scenery. It really is an upscale summer camp! And the food was great! Lunch was sandwiches with a couple of different salads (the orzo and garbanzo bean salad was lovely). Brunch the next morning was two kinds of eggs, great breakfast potatoes, excellent biscuits, phenomenal pancakes, cucumber sandwiches and a rustic bloody mary bar. All in all, it was a great time to spend in a beautiful setting with family and friends! BUT...the driveway was awful. Seems like a little thing, right? Nope, the driveway is a steeply-climbing mountain road, covered in potholes, running what felt like more than 1/4 of a mile. And the parts that aren't potholed have the pavement worn away and uneven. And all the while the road itself is narrow, maybe 1 1/2 car widths with a sharp drop off of anywhere from 4 to 8 feet on both sides. If I wasn't driving, it would have been beautiful. But I was driving and since I was staying elsewhere I had to keep driving it, a total of three round trips in two days. And I am amazed, AMAZED, that I didn't pop a tire or even break an axle. And this was in beautiful weather! Wet leaves, or an early winter storm (and it gets cold that high up) and that road would have been not just unpleasant but flat out dangerous. Granted if I'd been in something with four wheel drive and an extra strong suspension this might not have been an issue. But I wasn't. I was in a sedan and was worried. Obviously, this is a small business and a labor of love. The staff was all lovely and I wish them and the owners the best. But while this place would normally get a solid four stars for the rest of the experience, I can't give them more than 2 1/2 after getting in and out of the place. Which I will round up in the hopes that they manage to find a solution to the one bit that detracted from an otherwise lovely place. read more

My Husband and I got married at Cedar Lakes in July of 2015 and it was truly everything we envisioned for our wedding. We wanted a location that was elegantly relaxed and allowed for us to spend multiple days with friends and family in a beautiful setting. Cedar Lakes definitely provides that plus much much more. The property itself is expansive and stunningly beautiful, but not in an overly manicured way. (Read Luxury Glamping, but not Country Club Stuffy). From the moment I arrived for our first visit I knew CLE was the right place for us to celebrate our marriage. The lake, the pool, the ceremony locations, the barn and the cottages are all equally exquisite - and then the blob, basketball courts and and sports fields added a playful feeling to the weekend that everybody appreciated. In addition to lovely event spaces and accommodations, the service and food provided by CLE cannot be outdone. The week of our wedding I knew that every detail would be taken care of, which allowed me to relax and enjoy time with our guests. Stephanie does an exceptional job of managing all "front-of-house" service (including their exceptional taste in decor and much more) and the food and beverages from Lisa and her team are truly gourmet (and also modern - ie mini chicken and waffles, not just typical boring wedding fare.) I honestly still dream about the food from the rehearsal dinner and wedding - everybody was raving about it all weekend. (Another CLE perk: The option to have your rehearsal dinner at a gorgeous long wooden table in a garden lit by twinkle lights and surrounded by flowers and fresh veggies - very reminiscent of a dinner in the Italian countryside and exactly what we had hoped for.) After it's all said and done I truly cannot imagine us getting married anywhere else, and we're both very happy that we made the decision to spend one of the most special weeks of our lives with Stephanie/Lisa and their team at Cedar Lakes. If you're on the fence about getting married here, don't think - just jump over the fence. It won't be regretted :) read more

I stayed here for a wedding. The property and facilities were excellent. The staff was attentive and the place ran like clockwork. Unfortunately the drinking water was terrible. It tasted bad and smelled worse, very sulfurous. I am surprised no one has mentioned this in any reviews. They would place water out for all the meals and activities with a bunch of lemon slices floating in the jugs, but it was not enough to cover it up. Obviously with all the activities, partying/drinking, and dancing you need to stay hydrated and we were forced to hold our breath and choke down the water being served. It was very unpleasant. I asked a staff member if people generally complain about it and she shrugged her shoulders. It was a topic of conversation among all the guests at my table. It is the only thing that marred the wedding weekend for me. Otherwise, it was one of the best weddings and wedding venues I have experienced. Please do something about that water. read more

Had the pleasure of staying here for a week long getaway with my husband and son. Entire process from check-in to touring the grounds was flawless. We stayed in the sleepy pine cottage and absolutely loved it! Finishes were pretty modern and we felt super safe with all their covid precautions. Shower pressure was surprisingly strong, and staff/maintenance team was quick to respond with any issues. Every single staff member we encountered during our stay was super friendly/courteous and so accommodating. The food was also very delicious. Breakfast and dinner were served buffet style, while daily lunch is packed for you to eat anywhere on the grounds. All the guests respected one another's space and we met some really awesome people. Place is SO dog friendly and family friendly too! Only thing I wish CLE had more of was kid friendly activities. One of the days we were there, they did tie dying shirts for the kids. That was pretty cute. Would be nice if they did 1 daily activity catered to kids. When booking, probably better to call in and speak to a person to see if they can accommodate for shorter stays and if you're allowed to bring your furbaby. We noticed after we arrived and spoke w/ the staff members how lax they are on their dog policy. On their website, it seemed like dogs were only allowed in certain cottages, which happened to be all booked when we made our reservation. However, upon arriving, we noticed tons of guests had dogs in the same type of cottage we were staying in. Also, if you cannot stay the entire week, you can call in to see if they have any availability for shorter stays. My family had such a relaxing vaca lounging by the "beach", catching salamanders, reading books on the hammocks, canoeing/paddle boating on the beautiful lake, and attempting to catch some fish. Overall, was an amazing relaxing getaway and would definitely recommend to anyone needing a peaceful place to get away to. Heather & Stephanie were amazing and really stood out. My son was obsessed with the plums from the farmer's market, and Stephanie made sure to give us a container of them to bring back home on our last day. It's simple small gestures like this that really made CLE stand out and leave an impression on us. Amazing property, DELICIOUS catering (like, wow), exceptional service (like wtf holy wow the staff was amazing the ENTIRE weekend - even put up with our drunken antics), excellent amenities. Just an all-star, perfect weekend for my friends and the gorgeous brides. I don't want to go to another wedding bc this was too good. Also - one of the reviews mentioned the tap water. Yeah, it's not great, but the good news is that they had filtered lemon water out at all times in the Pavillion for us to stop by and fill up our water bottles. My sister got married here last weekend. They had to drag me away. I cried almost as hard leaving our cottage as I did during the wedding itself. (I'm kidding. Sort of.) My family stayed in one of the Sleepy Pines cottages, which was small and adorable and so prettily decorated and with a FABULOUS bathroom. My mom stayed in the Bluebird, which was very hunting-cottage-for-a-fabulously-wealthy-person - I could seriously live there. And the wedding stuff was great, too. It was much rainier and colder than anyone was expecting, but Stephanie, one of the pair of sisters who runs this place, kept everything cool, had contingency plans on contingency plans, and basically made everything run smoothly despite the changes that the weather made to the original wedding. Lisa, the other sister and the chef, made amazing food all weekend. Everything was good, but I seriously can't say enough about the biscuits. They are biscuits that taste exactly like what you imagine biscuits should taste like. I want to go back. Tomorrow. read more

Cedar Lakes Estate - Our lovely room! - Vacation Rentals Near Me - Port Jervis, New York

Cedar Lakes Estate is located on beautiful property & the food is first rate! Lisa Karvellas is a talented chef who unfortunately works at a place where her talents will never be recognized. This leads me to the bad part of the review, the management. Overall the management is extremely unprofessional and the venue is FAR over priced for the services you get. Essentially you are paying for the use of the grounds and everything you need is at an extra cost, for example the food and house keeping is extra. Here are a few bullet points so everyone is aware of what to look out for. Wedding planning is included in the contract but not provided. The driveway to the property is in VERY VERY dangerous conditions. The docks around the lake are covered in goose poop, and were not cleaned for our event. Only paper plates are provided for every meal except the reception. We ended up paying extra to get real plates. The RSVP date for our guest to book their rooms was approved by management. They took vacation at that same time and left no one to attend the calls, even though they told us they wanted the guests calling at that time. When our guests called, the bulk of them never got a return phone call or were told that they woke the manager up when they called at 10am and another 1pm on a weekday. The bartenders were friends of management not real bartenders . The bartenders were asked twice by our sommelier to tap the keg for the reception and they never did. We had to return the untapped keg but lost our money for it. The Cedar Lakes head server reported to us that the bartenders were drinking the liquor we provided, because they don't have a liquor licence, & that staff was getting drunk on the job. Why didn't Cedar Lakes address this themselves? Instead our wedding planner had to deal with the situation and still the drinking continued. On the website under accommodations "The Lodge" is described as a " 5-bedroom deluxe home overlooking the lake" guests however CANNOT stay in those accommodations. The owners live in the lodge during the weekend of your wedding. 3 accommodations did not have hot water and my mom's room did not have hot water or air conditioning. Our guests had to share each others bathrooms to get ready. The wedding lodging says they can accommodate 100 people however, you can only comfortably fit 28-30 people. The other accommodations have NO BEDS, or have children's bunk beds in the rooms. For the bunk bed accommodations the couple will need to provide sheets at an additional cost or your guest can bring their own. Our planner brought her own mason jars as drinking glasses to be part of the theme however Cedar Lakes did not set all the tables with the jars and also attempted to take them. Our planner had to go into their kitchen to get her jars back. read more

Well our wedding has come and gone and I am sad about one thing. Its over. Cedar Lakes EXCEEDED our expectations. We had about 1.5 years of planning with the Cedar Lakes Estate staff and they did exactly what they said they would. They are a newer venue so we were expecting a few hiccups and over sights-and there were none. Our guests were floored by the perfectly groomed grounds, the attentive staff, the 5 star restaurant cuisine and the unique weekend that was offered to our guests. When serving at a camp to over 220+ you would expect standard wedding food. No, the entire weekend Chef Lisa Karvellas went above and beyond with her intimate touches and made the food a roaring hit. From the summer salad perfectly blended with dressing and toppings, to the ribs falling off the bone- people were in awe and going up for seconds. This privately owned estate allowed for all my DIY touches, no noise restrictions, beautiful accommodations on site. From our parents questions (and boy did they have questions) to the continuous one on one attention from Stephanie & Lisa, they made planning a wedding from the west coast seamless. I wouldn't say I am a bridezilla, but I have a vision and a particular style. When you do planning for a living, its challenging to give the reigns to others. After our wedding, my husband and I would have changed NOTHING and we owe it ALL to Cedar Lakes Estate. I am happy to speak to anyone regarding my process, vendors and further experience as this truly was a wedding to remember. Cedar Lakes Estates and the women who run it are pure magic. I booked Cedar Lakes Estates for our 2-day corporate retreat for 43 people and there was not one person who wasn't completely wowed by the holiday. CLE is the perfect cross-section of insanely good food, instagrammable scenery, comfy accommodations, and fun activities. Beyond the picturesque seated-dinner in the barn (think candles, string bulbs, and one of the best roast chickens you'll ever taste), the camp-style blob and the zipline over the lake- every one who we interacted with prior-to and during our stay was responsive, accommodating, and considerate. When our arranged bus service from NYC to CLE called at the time we were supposed to be loading up, only to tell us that they couldn't make it, Ashley and the lovely staff of CLE stopped at no end in trying to arrange for another charter to pick us up. The staff's diligence and patience carried through out the trip: arranging taxis to pick up people leaving early, gracefully dealing with a couple of unruly guests, and making sure our charter back home would arrive with out a hitch. Cedar Lakes Estates is an upstate dream- nostalgic and whimsical, yet refined. Cedar lake resorts was the perfect venue for a magical wedding! My brother married his wife there and everything went smoothly and looked great. They truly had their dream wedding! The staff was extremely friendly helpful, attentive and accommodating. I have some food allergies that are pretty severe and hard to cook for, however the chefs made sure that I had food I could eat and it was absolutely delicious as well! I truly appreciated that! Our team at Unreasonable Group ran a program in partnership with Barclays at Cedar Lakes Estate that lasted for 2 weeks. Over the course of the two weeks, we gathered about 200 individuals. We have run programs like this across multiple countries and with countless venues. I can say with confidence that Cedar Lakes Estates was easily one of the best venues we have ever had the privilege of working with and that their team was nothing short of phenomenal. Part of me wants to write a dishonest and negative review so that they have availability for future events we host. that said, in all candor, the staff, location, food, ambience, and entire experience of working with Cedar Lakes was one of the best I've had in my professional career. Property is beautiful but management not so much... Beware!!!! You will be very unhappy with this venue... Unless you want to spend a lot of money for just a place to have a wedding and you want to do all of the leg work... But who would want to pay these prices for that... $155.00 a plate $9,750 for Site Rental and that doesn't include the whole site... you will have to pay extra for additional space... 20% Gratuity + Tax You will be well over $60,000 for a site.... again a site not a package... Ridiculous!!! They should probably just stick to summer camps.... I would retreat over the mountain to Catlin Gardens in Slate Hill Ny!!! Beware!!! read more

My boyfriend and I spent NYE weekend at Cedar Lakes Estate and had a wonderful time. The team had prepared an exciting, but relaxing weekend of events, including visiting local businesses that they had clearly fostered a relationship with. The food was EXCELLENT and there were so many thoughtful details throughout our 3-day stay. Having a wedding at Cedar Lakes makes you feel like you're getting married in your own backyard (only your backyard has a lake, sports facilities and an epic mountain view). From our first visit, Stephanie, Lisa and Ashley made us feel like family. They helped us create the ultimate camp weekend, customizing every detail of our nearly 300-guest, 4-day wedding. They told us to reach out whenever we had questions, and they really meant it. They were always responsive, attentive and excited to help. They worked so well with every one of our vendors. They really made us feel like we had nothing to worry about, and they were right - it couldn't have been more perfect. Every member of the Karvellas and Cedar Lakes family went above and beyond to make our weekend what it was. With Stephanie and Ashley, planning was genuinely fun. The food by Lisa and her team was fresh, delicious and prepared with love. Gina helped us be in the right place at the right time, and Steve and Lisa made our guests feel at home. Not to mention Brian, Amanda, Charlie and the nearly 100 other members of the team who made sure the weekend went off without a hitch. Our friends and family are still telling us our wedding was the best they've ever been to (not something you hear every day), and we know this wouldn't be the case if it had been anywhere else. Spent the long weekend at Cedar Lakes Estate leading into the New Year and cannot get over the magic of this stunning landscape! I stayed with a group in the garden suites and they were as charming and homey as I thought them up in my dreams. The weekend was complete with some of the most delicious meals I've ever had and an insanely fun and thoughtful schedule of events (despite the lack of snow activities due to Mother Nature). From yoga in the beautiful barn, to drunk bingo, mixology class, sugar house tour, brewery tour, and the coziest Canteen and Pavilion for games and cocktails all throughout-- it was truly a weekend to remember. Ntot to mention the finale NYE 6-course dinner-beverage pairing and party which could have been the most memorable, special, and delicious culinary experience i have had to date in my life, EVER. i will dream about that duck ravioli for all my years to come. The staff was one of the friendliest i have ever encountered EVER and I am already looking to book my next weekend back! it was truly MAGICAL in ever sense of the word! Cedar Lakes hosted our dream wedding this October. It was a perfect setting for the type of atmosphere my wife and I were wishing for. Our "rustic chic" theme was met with every detail Cedar Lakes had to offer. This place was soooo unique!!! We immediately saw the potential for a knockout weekend wedding to wow our guests. We're hands-on type of brides, so with some welcomed creativity we were able to really put our personal details throughout. . This is a family owned full service operation and they couldn't be lovelier. They saw to every single detail we requested and made us feel like part of their own family. The grounds are huge and just breathtaking - there's a private lake on site, a huge barn, plus other unique dwellings, 2 pools, and an incredible scenic mountaintop. We were able to use multiple venues on the grounds to showcase different sessions of our event allowing us to really be honored in a way one could only dream of. There are private luxury cottages available for about 30 people or so, with the rest of our guests given the option to stay in camper style cabins. Those unenthused about staying in the camper cabins (older guests really) were given the option to stay in a Holiday Inn only about 20 minutes away. Stephanie prepared all the luxury cottages onsite to be occupied by our bridal party and close family. She saw to it that not only did the event run smoothly but that all needs of our guests were met. Cedar Lakes just built a cluster of new cottages that sleep about 20, which was just perfect for our bridal party. These new cabins are absolutely gorgeous - a perfectly styled mix of rustic luxury. The attention to detail really came through. They were warm and intimate allowing our guests to individually enjoy their stay just as much as being a part of our special day .I travel often for work; these 5 star cabins were much, much cozier than any hotel I've ever stayed in. Our ceremony was held on the mountaintop. It was **breathtaking**. The staff set the stage perfectly; they even had a gorgeous handmade arbor.(incredible) I couldn't have imagined a more perfect setting for the ceremony. The reception was even better in their incredible barn. It's all done in stunning 100 year old reclaimed barn wood with low strung soft lights - really like a page out of magazines and wedding blogs!!!! The food, the food, the food was really something. Chef Lisa executed these culinary delights , a home-style feel; far from typical wedding food. You could tell everything was homemade and made with pride, from homemade pizzas for a casual lunch the day before to bouillabaisse and braised short ribs for the reception. We teamed up with Chef Lisa to fine tune the menu for the entire weekend. She couldn't be more accommodating; her excellence shined through at each gathering. Our guests were just blown away; many of them commented that it was the best wedding they had ever been to. The serenity of Cedar Lakes made the perfect backdrop for our day, allowing our love and energy to shine. The food, the grounds, the kindness of the staff and owners...all of this came together to make a remarkable day and quite an impression. This is something you could never get from your typical venue. When we look back and re-live the best day of our lives we have Cedar Lakes to thank. There is no other place that offers alllllll that our weekend ensued. I had the opportunity to marry the woman of my dreams, host an incredible event for family & friends and create memories that will last in our hearts forever If you're looking for a cookie cutter place like every other wedding you've been to, this isn't for you. But if you can get a little creative, aren't a bridezilla, have an open mind, an appreciation for touches only a family business can offer, you will be more than pleased with Cedar Lakes. My son was married in October on the Cedar Lakes property. It was the most magical experience possible! The entire wedding party (about 50) stayed up there all weekend, Friday rehearsal dinner was fabulous and the food continued to wow us all weekend, The view on top of the Mountain where the ceremony takes place defies description. The cocktail hour around the pool was elegant and the hors d'oeuvres one dish more delicious then the next. The wedding itself done in the Barn was decorated so well and the food simply the very best! It was true magic being able to spend the entire weekend with the wedding party in a relaxed atmosphere. There is plenty of room on this wide open beautiful property for boating, yoga on top of the mountain, volleyball tennis etc etc. wherever your imagination lets you travel it can be done here. This is not a cookie cutter wedding. It definitely demands a lot of work by the bride, groom and wedding party to make it work. You have to supply all the liquor, decorations for the meals etc etc. It gave us the chance to use creative talents and make the entire experience so very worthwhile. The family who owns the property was up there all weekend and could not have been more hospitable making every guest feel so comfortable. The wait staff saw to every detail and the even the most hardened of critics would have given full compliments. I think over 90% of those in attendance felt (so many told me) that it was the Best wedding they had ever been to. If your looking for a hall that does everything and all you have to do is show up, this is not the place, If your looking for something different and are willing to do some work to make your event truly spectacular this is definitely the place! An earlier review mentioned difficulty with the road getting there. I also noticed that issue when I first went up there this past winter, fortunately the road has since been paved so that is no longer an issue. read more

This place deserves six stars, or more! We hosted our daughter's wedding weekend here in early August and I can't say enough good things about the place. The CLE team is super professional but also so warm and lovely - you will never want to leave! The grounds are gorgeous, the setting is picture-perfect, and the facilities are impeccably maintained. Stephanie and Lisa were super accommodating to our unique set of needs for the weekend and worked with us to give our daughter and son-in-law the wedding of their dreams. As mother of the bride, a foodie, and a service diva, my standards frighten myself and my loved ones. With that in mind, my daughter cringed at the thought of weathering my reactions when we first visited. Surprisingly, it was love at first sight. The property is extraordinary, the cabins adorable and Lisa and Stephanie--the sisters who run the show--were unbelievably gracious, non-salesy and real. But that was nothing...and I mean N-O-T-H-I-N-G compared to what I have to say about the wedding itself. I honestly have no superlatives strong enough to convey the warmth of the entire Cedar Lakes experience, from the family who owns the property to the bartenders. Everyone was exceptionally accommodating and kind. The food. OMG the FOOOOD. As I looked around the room at the gorgeous reception I kept seeing people look up from their plates with the same expression on their faces: "Whaa?? This is SO NOT wedding food." And this was not a fly-by wedding. This was an entire Labor Day weekend, three meals a day and 120 people. It was almost weirdly flawless. Cedar Lakes didn't have control over the weather, which was sparkling, cloudless and 75 degrees throughout, but that was all they had no control over. Oh. At one point my daughter's dog was left alone in one of the cabins (where he was technically off-limits) and scratched huge chunks out of the bottom of the front door. The staff discovered the issue, brought the dog up to the rehearsal dinner but handed him off to someone on the staff willing to walk him around until the evening was over....and they did everything in their power to downplay the issue (even though they had another wedding immediately following ours, with no time to repair) so it wouldn't upset the bride or bridal party. That kind of stunning behavior happened all weekend long. I must have gotten 25 emails from people the next day talking about the experience of Cedar Lakes. If I go on any more this will read like a fake review. It's not....and moreover, in all the time I've been using Yelp (constantly, since it was available) I honestly don't think I've ever reviewed anything. So. There you have it. It has now been 2 months since my wedding, and I absolutely can not stop thinking about it. I can't stop thinking about the BEAUTIFUL setting of my ceremony, the DELICIOUS food that was served the entire weekend, the INCREDIBLE hospitality/service that was given to me and my guests throughout the entire weekend, I have Cedar Lakes Estate to thank for EVERYTHING. On my first visit at CLE, I fell in love and my imagination went wild with ideas for my wedding- but on that first visit, I never could have imagined how amazing my actual wedding would have been. Some highlights include: a day with my guests floating at the pool and blobbing on the lake, my rehearsal dinner with homemade flavored marshmallows for s'more, golf carting around the beautiful camp grounds, my ceremony with the most spectacular views of the Hudson, the absolutely most incredibly delicious food ( fried chicken and waffles apps, tomato soup with mini grilled cheese, chocolate cookies with a shot of milk, red velvet cake in mason jars), cocktail hour with specialty drinks by the lake, my first dance under 9 spectacularly beautiful chandeliers in the gorgeous rustic barn, after party at the tree house with a bonfire. I mean really- Cedar Lakes Estate gave me the wedding that I could have never imagined. The grounds, the staff, the amenities, the cabins and the food isn't even the best part of CLE--- the Karvellas family is! Stephanie (the Event Coordinator) was a dream to work with from start to finish. She was so responsive, so approachable, so relatable, so helpful and she even stepped up and ran my rehearsal when my wedding planner bailed last minute. Lisa (the chef) came up with the most delicious creations the entire weekend and was SO accommodating to my guests who had eating restrictions- she even made me and my husband special root beer floats at the end of the night! These two went above and beyond for us and I will forever be grateful for them and the dreamland of CLE! read more
