I told her I had gotten her phone number from the website, I had already viewed their offerings, and I had some questions. She told me she was busy and I should go to the website to make any reservations. I reiterated that I had some questions around comfort level with horses, etc. She hung up. I get that you have a website. I am a developer who writes websites. But if you have a potential customer who has some questions around the services you offer, you should not be curt nor rude, and should not hang up when someone wants to ask whether you can give a ride to their 6-year-old.

Given regular medical and dental care, resting between rides, strict weight limits are different for each horse, they are really well cared for. They rescue 80% of their horses. Geriatric horses are sent to pasture not sent to auction. Just wanted to put that out there for fellow animal lovers.

That's what I get to do here. I've ridden many of the horses and ponies and have always felt safe. Shae owns the barn, trains the horses, and teaches lessons. All of her horses are loved, well-cared for, and do well with riders at all levels. She is a patient instructor, cares about her clients, and is passionate about her business and horses in general. She's also a certified saddle fitter. Weather-permitting, lessons are outside year round. From the outdoor arena, there's a lovely view of a beautiful grassy field where the horses love to graze with a gorgeous tree-lined backdrop. During inclement weather (when it's simply too cold or rainy), there's a very nice, large indoor arena. Lessons are private and semi-private and priced fairly. Shae teaches all ages. I am super happy at this barn. I think the world of Shae as an instructor, trainer, business owner, and person. If you are looking for a slow, leisurely group ride with up to 10 people down dirt roads, past…read morepeople's homes, and through a small wooded area, this is the place for you. Many of the horses are rescues, and the owner has done a lovely job training them to be wonderful, mild-mannered trail ride horses. There was a 6-year-old child in our group who never once held onto the reins, and she never had a problem because the lead wrangler was leading her horse with a rope. There are wranglers at the front and back of the group as you travel single file down the road with cars driving by periodically. Our wranglers frequently yelled directions (that nobody in the middle of the group could hear), and that aspect really annoyed my daughter. It was not a peaceful ride. I have been to the Waterloo location and was expecting a walk through a beautiful wooded area like it is there, so our route was a disappointment to me as was the slow pace. The web site mentioned both walking and trotting. We were at a slow walk for the entire ride. Since my daughter and I both ride frequently, this was not at all what we were looking for. That being said, this would be perfect for people who have never ridden or for families with small children.

They keep way too many horses in close proximity. The living environment looked unbearable, the horses were filthy, they had zero grass and they were stewing in a bunch of sh*t. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1998 (which is when they bought the "farm"). Additionally, on what was supposed to be a relaxing horse ride, she screamed at the cars driving past us multiple times. We were on a secluded dirt road, people were already halfway off the other side of the road driving probably 25mph, there was no need for her irrational reaction. Overall, horrible experience. Go somewhere else.
