The beach at Bishop Lake was too small for the amount of people and the water quality wasn't great. The water was shallow, murky, and slimy. The trail around the lake was also crowded and not peaceful. Many people were riding their bikes or walking in between the camp grounds and the beach. Some signs or trail activities were falling apart and in need of repair. If you want to be around a ton of people while enjoying the outdoors, you'd have fun. It wasn't for me.

My family purchases rec passes for all of our vehicles. When the booth worker, Connie, asked if I have a rec pass on my vehicle, I replied yes, and she waved me in. She did not stand up to view the sticker. I parked in the Bishop parking lot and soon after noticed a white vehicle speeding through the parking lot. Connie the booth worker blocked the back of my car into the parking space with her personal vehicle and jumped out screaming, so angry she was nearly foaming at the mouth. Connie jumped out of her car, and ran to my driver's side window screaming at me as I sat bewildered in the driver's seat of my car. "What do you mean you have a rec pass, you don't even have a Michigan plate?!! Go back to the booth!!" I asked Connie to remove her personal vehicle from blocking my vehicle and obstructing my movement. I told her I don't feel comfortable with her behavior and that I wanted to leave the park. Connie said, "Good, leave!" I stopped at the booth and asked for Connie's name and the contact information for a park's supervisor. Connie replied- you don't need my name. They know who I am in the park's office. She then walked into her booth and slammed the door. I had Deb with DNR drive to the booth to speak with Connie and address her bizarre and over the top behavior. When I asked Deb whether booth workers are deputized or authorized to pursue and block parks goers with their personal vehicles, she smartly replied, "What do you think?" MI Legislature allows DNR officers to write civil tickets only to visitors without a rec pass. Under no circumstances should a civilian booth worker impersonate an officer, chase, pursue or physically block a person who they believe is not carrying a rec pass.

More than halfway into the trail, splits with an option to bike towards Island Lake recreation area of Kensington Park. Path is nicely shaded but if you opt to head towards K. Park it is mostly sunny and straddles a highway before reaching the park. Starting in Lyon the path starts across from the Paul Baker Memorial. This is a rails to trails path and still has an operating line.

Also it's definitely a great place for biking seem like they have a few side dirt roads that you probably could take but at the same time it's gravel for easy walking. In the trail was very clean and there were trash bins/doggy bags available - maybe it should just a cold months but that's normally all used up or gone so I'm happy with this location. Since I only did half I would like to try the other half which at the parking lot you can tell that seem to be the center point of the whole trail. Happy hiking!!!

Heritage Park on one and a leo's Coney off Michigan on the other. Well shaded and it felt ten degrees cooler. You need a hybrid or mountain bike if cycling. It is packed gravel and had some loose spots. Plenty of resting spots. Not very crowded. GPS took me to the middle of the trail. There are a few offshots, ITC and Sycamore loop.

The Holdridge Lakes Mountain Bike Trails are Located off of Hess Road about 1 1/2 miles north of…read moreGrange Hall Road and just west of I-75. These are a great set of nicely designed and well maintained trails that offer some of the best biking in the area. There are several nicely marked route choices for riders of all skill levels. The North Loop is about a 2 1/4 mile trail that is well suited for beginners or a good warm-up for a more advanced biker. The West Loop is short of 5 miles of intermediate trail with a couple of optional well marked split-offs. The first early split-off leads to a much easier "Turtle trail". Further along the West Loop is the "Tech Loop" which includes a 3 foot drop, log climbs, narrow paths, and many jumps. Both split offs are approximately 3/4 of a mile in length. The East Loop known as "Gruber's Grinder" offers the biggest challenges with approximately 18 miles of jumps, climbs, rocks and roots twisting throughout the woods and fields. A Michigan State Recreation Passport is required but there is no gate check. For a great map of the trails I recommend you check out the Michigan DNR web page. Wear your helmet and ride safe!

In the summer months (pre-Labor Day) they have an inflatable obstacle course courtesy of Warrior Island great for teens and adults I have seen dogs on this beach (and in the water) multiple times so clearly the NO ANIMALS sign is often ignored The changing rooms are interesting... no doors necessary since they're around a corner The singular outdoor shower is not private There's goose poop everywhere Biggest perk is how far you can go while it's still shallow

Eliza Howell Park is a public park in the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit. According to its…read morewebsite, the park is made up of 250 acres of preserved land in the flood plain of the Rouge River and has over two miles of hiking trails I visited the park for the first time to participate in a walking tour with a local non-profit. This park has so much potential if only the city invested more funds in its upkeep and landscaping. I thought my vehicle would be swallowed up by the huge potholes around the parking lot. I noticed some trash on my walk. I was told that the park was closed for a while and volunteers from the local community brought this park back to life. It's a very beautiful place for a nature walk and I hope that more is done to restore the park to its former glory.

We decided that we would make the leap and pay double our rent that we were currently paying to live in a nice welcoming community. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF OUR LIVES! These people do NOT care about you or your neighbors. The ONLY thing they care about is getting their monthly rent money. Paying our bills is absolutely NO problem, our bills are ALWAYS on time if not early. I have called and complained about our neighbors who's kids trash my yard and throw bricks in front of our home and every time I call Brenda who is the "park manager" she tells me she is taking care of it. Here we are all this time later and still have the same issues with the neighbors still doing the same things that we started complaining about a year ago. Not only do we have problems with these neighbors but we are buying a brand new home which I figured there would be no problems with for atleast a couple years right. That is not the case. From the time we moved in here we have had issues with different things in the home. One day I walked into the spare bathroom and cut my foot on a screw protruding from the floor in the walkway. I called and spoke with Brenda right away and she apologized saying she would send someone to fix the issue right away. Happy with the fact that they were going to fix the issue I get off the phone. This man shows up to my door walks in tracking mud through my brand new home and starts hammering the screws through the floor leaving the enterence to my bathroom looking terrible (ripples and dented in flooring). We are a TLL which is where you are "purchasing" your home. One of our biggest concerns was whether or not we would be able to have a covered fire pit since that is something we regularly enjoy doing. We were told that as long as it was covered and we put it away after use every time that it would be NO problem at all. Well today (almost a year after move in) we were told we were in violation for having this expensive fire pit and that it is clearly stated in the rules that were not allowed to have it. I am VERY disappointed and will be moving once again AS SOON as this 3 year commitment is up. Plllllleeeaaase people read everything! Don't take what the "park manager" tells you to be the whole truth because at the end of the day they are trying to sell homes and will say what they need to in order to do so.

What nice things can you say about a Mobile Home Park that…read moregives you a written estimate on the purchase of a home for $15,000, then later when you read the whole contract, you find they have charged you almost $24,000...? Then on top of that, when questioned about the error they became defensive & rude. I was told "you signed the contract" and that the Manager who quoted us the price was "never authorized to do that", even though she had gotten approval through the corporate office; Parkland Ventures, owned by Markel Insurance out of Virginia. The park has refused to fix our broken slab, but only after telling us it would be fixed in 2 weeks ( that was last June of 2015). Now they claim that corporate wont approve it "because they wont make any money out of it". So now, we are forced to try and repair our own foundation this summer somehow. The park has No Security Guard and people drive 45 mph past our home every day. We even offered to pay for some speed bumps to deter the speeders but are told " Corporate wont allow it". While sweeping our sidewalk, the asst. manager stopped to ask what I was doing.. I said sweeping the sidewalk; doesn't the park even sweep the sidewalks or the road..? she told me the park wont pay for it; she said. So, what do you do when the management themselves tell us that the park wont pay for repairs and maintenance, or try and deter speeders and loud cars without mufflers..? It's a sad example of what big business does to the little guy. Take the money, refuse repairs and let the park deteriorate seems to be the motto. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I would have never moved in here. We've been lied to so many times you'd think it's run by a group of pathological liar's; but trust me, they're not dumb and they know exactly what they are doing. Shame on you Parkland Ventures... I hope your proud of yourselves for taking advantage of people on disability.
