If you are looking for a slow, leisurely group ride with up to 10 people down dirt roads, past people's homes, and through a small wooded area, this is the place for you. Many of the horses are rescues, and the owner has done a lovely job training them to be wonderful, mild-mannered trail ride horses. There was a 6-year-old child in our group who never once held onto the reins, and she never had a problem because the lead wrangler was leading her horse with a rope. There are wranglers at the front and back of the group as you travel single file down the road with cars driving by periodically. Our wranglers frequently yelled directions (that nobody in the middle of the group could hear), and that aspect really annoyed my daughter. It was not a peaceful ride. I have been to the Waterloo location and was expecting a walk through a beautiful wooded area like it is there, so our route was a disappointment to me as was the slow pace. The web site mentioned both walking and trotting. We were at a slow walk for the entire ride. Since my daughter and I both ride frequently, this was not at all what we were looking for. That being said, this would be perfect for people who have never ridden or for families with small children. read more

Sherri was extremely unprofessional. As an animal lover (and considerate human being) when I saw the stable where they keep their horses I was disgusted. They keep way too many horses in close proximity. The living environment looked unbearable, the horses were filthy, they had zero grass and they were stewing in a bunch of sh*t. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1998 (which is when they bought the "farm"). Additionally, on what was supposed to be a relaxing horse ride, she screamed at the cars driving past us multiple times. We were on a secluded dirt road, people were already halfway off the other side of the road driving probably 25mph, there was no need for her irrational reaction. Overall, horrible experience. Go somewhere else. read more

I had a good experience at this small business because I got what I paid for. We paid $100 ($50 each) to ride a horse for an hour. Really informal though because I didn't get a receipt. Call sherry, make a deposit, then pay the rest in cash or card (card incurs an additional 4%). Then sign waivers. I had a light-brown horse called gunner. He and I clicked right away because he gave me no problems. There was a time where the horses were frightened by something on the street and almost took off, but because we received about 5 minutes lecture on how to take control of the horse, we gained control of them quickly (even though this was my first time). Much of this experience was informal, but truthfully, I actually preferred that way because I felt like I got a real experience of horse riding, rather than someone breathing down my neck or by riding a horse in a limited area on a barn. We went about 2 miles out then 2 miles back and in the woods. Almost all of the drivers (except 1) were nice and slowed down so as to not frighten the horses, and many even waived at us. In my opinion, if you want a full experience without judging a book by its cover, go here. If you want a more formal experience and hand holding, probably want to go somewhere else. Unfortunately, the informality (not receiving a receipt) is why I took away 1 star. read more

Me and my party of 3 had the most AMAZING experience here! They truly care about your comfort and using the FULL time that you pay for! The horses are rescues and very well behaved, and you spend plenty of time on the trail! 100% leave your phone at your desk though, we lost ours! (still found it with location) read more

I told her I had gotten her phone number from the website, I had already viewed their offerings, and I had some questions. She told me she was busy and I should go to the website to make any reservations. I reiterated that I had some questions around comfort level with horses, etc. She hung up. I get that you have a website. I am a developer who writes websites. But if you have a potential customer who has some questions around the services you offer, you should not be curt nor rude, and should not hang up when someone wants to ask whether you can give a ride to their 6-year-old.

The ride itself is amazing, you go through meadows, forests. If it's dry you will get dusty, be prepared. Most importantly in my review, their horses are treated well. Given regular medical and dental care, resting between rides, strict weight limits are different for each horse, they are really well cared for. They rescue 80% of their horses. Geriatric horses are sent to pasture not sent to auction. Just wanted to put that out there for fellow animal lovers.

Great Events and Kids Activities - Labor Day Party and Fireworks, Campout, Candy Bar Bingo, Dads Cannon Ball Contest, Swim Lessons, Water Aerobics Snack Bar prices are basically at-cost. The only thing about CGPA that could be improved is the pool stairs. They're not built-in and can be a bit difficult for swimmers with mobility issues. I'd love to see permanent stairs be added to the pool and perhaps one of those lifts that are becoming more and more common at pools.

Back there, I could have sworn I was playing "Up North". I also want to toss an appreciative shout out to everyone associated with this public golf course. To the person, everyone I interacted with from the clubhouse manager to the snack bar gal to the course ranger to the grounds crew was genuinely friendly and courteous. The tone set at Hudson Mills definitely enhanced the enjoyment of my round. I like the way they roll here!
