took my 3 year old the other day to get a haircut. Boy to i regret taking him here!!!! my son usually does great with all strangers he was the best customer. But the barber gentlemen didnt care to listen to what we want even with shown photo from all angles. He just buzz the shit of all the hair ( hard- tapered) and butchered the front bangs . I had asked if he could use scissors on the front the barber replied " whats the difference?" and sure enough he F it up!! I was so pissed!!! not worth coming here or paying15.00 FYI they close early for lunch even if u arrive early. We almost got kicked out for arriving @ 11:40am they werent even busy. I took my teenage son here for the first time today. I spent quite a bit of time reading yelp reviews. Cedar River Barbershop had the best reviews by far so we headed there. All I can say is that Carl has a new customer for life! My son was nervous about getting the haircut he wanted. We brought in a picture and that's exactly what he got! It's definitely got the old school barbershop feel when you walk in. Friendly and laid back. Just two chairs but they are quick. We didn't wait long at all. And the price was great! This is a small 2 chair barbershop with excellent service and haircuts. They have a vacuum system that sucks up the hair while it is being cut, so you will leave totally clean without any hair on your clothes or person. Prices are very reasonable. read more

Not sure why I'm giving this even 2 stars or why this place has so many good reviews. Maybe long time clientele that has figured out how to get a good cut. My husband and son went for the first time. The barber did not listen to my husband and gave him literally a military buzz cut. Not what he wanted. His shave was half ass and he had to go home and shave it himself. He also wanted his goatee trimmed up for a wedding the next day, they hardly touched it. So disappointed when I sent him there for what was suppose to be a treat for his best friend's wedding the following day. My son's hair was trimmed on the sides, but he has a longer flip over haircut and the barber did not cut the hair straight at all. We fixed it upon his return home. Sorry. I have been coming here for 20 years, but only my first review. Bad on me. Coming here for that long really speaks for itself. You cant go wrong with either barber. Both give a great haircut at a great price. Wait time when they are even the busiest is about a half hour. You typically get a chair withing 10-15 minutes. Nice TV's and good conversation if you like. A lot of locals but also the passer by who stops in. Conveniently located right off Maple Valley highway. They also do repairs! I love this place because: 1. They are genuinely enthusiastic, polite about providing a good, very affordable haircut for adults and children. My son got his haircut here on 07/25/2015. *Note that it was my kid's first haircut which was on the house and they produce a cute little certificate of your kid's first haircut. It's a nice touch and something for the scrap book. 2. Weekend business hours. 3. The clientele and barbers put your faith back in humanity that there are people who have a sense of community. People that are actually talking to each other and not nose deep in their smartphones, tablets or themselves. It's a nice, small town, not-keeping-up-with-the-Jones' feel. I feel the business model here is to provide an affordable, honest to goodness service that they can do for as long as they can. There are fewer things scarier for a child than a first haircut. Carl and Kelly are amazing with children and made my sons first haircut an incredible experience. Carl let my son sit on my lap any way he felt comfortable an explained to him everything he was going to do. He even got an adorable certificate for 'graduating from babyhood to big boy'. Perfectly satisfactory barber's cut ... mostly using the trimmer but some scissors and care taken regardless of the tool in use. Very nice guy ... cuts go pretty quickly so even there are people present, you're not going to be waiting very long. Priced very reasonably. read more

Took my son to get his first pro haircut at this place and am so glad I didn't go to Supercuts! This is a locally owned barber shop that has been around for ages. The interior is small and kitschy, with vintage barber chairs (with ashtrays in the arms) and all kinds of stuff on the walls. The owners are super cool. I noticed they have a nice magazine selection for while you wait. They have toys and skittles for the kids too. I will certainly continue taking my son here. read more

Carl and Kelly are the best! Great experience every time I go in...which is about every 3 weeks for the last several years now. Couple noteworthy experiences which prove my point: - once I was on a conference call over BT when I pulled up. I ducked my head into the shop to see what the wait was like & Carl was like, "you're good...". So I went to my car to finish my call. About 10 mins later, I walked in and Carl had kept track of my "place" in line...that was really cool. (NOTE - I've only waited about 10 minutes ever.) - on several occasions, I've come in with a little guy getting his haircut. I feel like I'm witnessing a real-life Rockwell painting....that's so cool. Last comments: - tons of magazines to read...and I mean TONS - separate TV and sitting area for kids who want to watch some cartoons while they wait. And Carl gives them a couple quarters to buy candy from the machine before they go. - Great vibe overall - feels the same as it would have been back in 1935 if you could time warp and walk in the same door. I really love that....hair is hair and people are people. That's it - go have Carl or Kelly cut your hair. You'll be happy you did! read more

Very charming, old- style barber shop. Carl and Kelly cut my twin 4-year-olds' hair. Seriously, the cutest cuts they've ever had! There are a couple of tvs showing cartoons and a couple of huge, lazy, friendly dogs. Afterward, Carl put his own quarters into a candy machine and gave my boys each a little paper cup of skittles! The best barbers around! I love my little neighborhood barbershop. Kelly & Carl are wonderful! I started taking my son here almost 3 years ago. It's the only place he likes to go for a haircut. The owners are so sweet & they get to know everybody by name. It's a small classic shop with 2 chairs--and 2 TV's. One for adults & one that's always playing cartoons. After his quick & sharp looking cut, Carl gives my son a quarter for the candy machine & a piece of gum. I swear, these small acts of kid-friendly touches go miles with me & my son. They have earned our business 10 times over. Oh yah, be sure to bring cash or a check. No debit or credit card machines here. Kids cuts are $12, men's $14. This shop has been around since I was a little girl, probably longer. I remember my mom taking my brother here (in the 80's) for a 'trim' after she had permed his hair--oh the horror! My mom dropped him off & my brother begged for a buzz cut. That's exactly what he got. Saved my brother from months of curly-headed torture...and my mom never permed his hair again. I decided it was time to find a new barber for both my son and I. We did not have a regular place to go to in a very long time. After reading other reviews we decided to see if they would be a good place for us, and we really liked our experience! We did not have to ask for much as we just wanted what we had just shorter...Both Carl and Kelly are pros! Very welcoming, our few ninutes wait was fine because other clients are fun to be around too. I like businesses where there is a community feel about it too. Now, I must add that they do not take credit cards at the time of this review, and that is fine by me. Luckily a tiny grocery store next to them does and can give you cash. Great place for little boys! I took my grandson for his first haircut and they were amazing. We will definitely be regulars now.

My boyfriend was searching for a local barber since he moved here. We found this place and he was immediately seated. He gave his instructions and got exactly what he asked for. The price was reasonable at 15 dollars and we walked out satisfied. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars is there was no straight razor "clean up". His previous barber always provided a neck and hairline shave that gave the haircut a crisp and polished look. The fade itself was well done and even all around though. read more

On the prowl for a local barber, I came across this establishment. Giving a nod to its good reviews and after much deliberation, I decided to give it a shot. Boy, am I glad I did! I walked right in and was seated immediately. The owners were very polite and listened as I described the look I was going for. After showing the barber an example, he responded that he could most certainly do it. No more than 15 minutes later, he had pulled it off perfectly!
