Sadly after getting a cut here for many years I have to move on. Something changed recently (Linda is not around). The usual people are gone and the new people are minimally trained. My last haircut was a buzz cut with clippers. No scissors or combs used. Just put an attachment on the clippers and take it all off...presto. Done in 10 minutes. Not for me anymore. read more

I found this place through yelp, and I'm so glad that I did! I got a haircut about a month ago from this barbershop and it was ok. I can't remember who cut my hair the first time, but I also didn't speak up and talk about my preferences. It wasn't a bad cut, or even a mediocre one--just not one that I was particularly excited about. I went back because you honestly can't beat their price. Since I wasn't too thrilled with my last cut, I was open to someone else cutting my hair. And then I met Tao (and I hope I'm getting the name right and not butchering the spelling...). I showed her a picture of how I wanted the sides and she began to cut. I gave her simple direction, like not too much off the top, and that I didn't want the thinning shears on top either. As she was cutting my hair, she also asked about certain parts of my hair that grow funny (thanks, cowlicks!) and if I would like it trimmed or cut completely. She's literally the first person I've had in years ask me that! And I was thankful because instead of her just assuming that I did or did not want it cut, she paused to ask. In addition to the 5-star cut, Tao was very friendly. 100% would highly recommend. Even if I end up moving out of Renton I'll be happy to make the drive back to this barbershop because of Tao. read more

My Son and I had the distinct displeasure of going to Linda's Barber shop for a haircut. I called previously to prior to coming, specifically asking if Linda knew how to do a fade cut her response was, "absolutely yes!". When my Son and I showed up, Linda looked with a semi scowl and said "you're here for a haircut?" and we said "yes, we called ahead of time about the fade" her response was "oh I don't do hair from Africa". In shock my response was "What do you mean my Sons hair is straighter and finer than yours, I am simply asking for a fade". Her response was "oh we don't do hair from Africa". Let me start off by saying I hate getting my hair cut. I don't like people close to me touching my head, I don't like the small talk that you get at a barber shop, and worst of all I don't like paying for all that discomfort! That being said, I am normal person with a job that requires me to look halfway presentable so I get my hair cut once every 6 months (true story, I cut it short and let it grow until its unmanageable). I was happy to find this barber shop because it is close to my house, cheap (only $9 for a buzz plus a few dollars for a tip) and they are all business, no small talk! I was in and out in about 10 minutes and the buzz cut looked great! She took the time to trim all the loose ends and make sure it even all the way around. The best part is my wife rewarded me by taking me to the 8-Bit arcade across the street for beer and video games after I endured my haircut! read more

This place is great simply because it's truly an in-and-out barbershop that genuinely tries and amazingly, the fact you can march in with two $5 bills and come out with a reasonable haircut is great. Special note: The shop is split into two locations only a couple doors down from each other on the same block and on the same street. Parking: Free street parking around town and you can find public parking lots a block or two away north and south of 3rd. Facility: It's an austere, basic chairs while you wait but clean barber shop. Why you wouldn't go: You cannot see yourself going to anything less than Gene Juarez or you need some kind of hair coloring, perm, etc. service. Why you would go: Your a father with a kid in tow and both of you need a haircut without breaking the bank and in under 30 minutes. Looking for a barber shop, it did not take me long to find Linda's Barber Shop. By simply typing in 'Barber' in Yelp, I found this place being on top of the list of barber shops in the Renton area. I'm not surprised that Linda's barber shop was the highest rated on the list of barber shops. I am a simple guy that loves a simple haircut and this place gives me the haircut I want at a price I am comfortable with. While I loved the $6-7 dollar price tag I was used to in California, I am ok with paying $10 for my simple haircut. Sorry that I forgot her name, but I enjoyed both my visits with the barber lady being pleasant. She was very hospitable and cared about how my day was as opposed to the silent barber shop experiences I had in the past. So far I have been here twice with my first visit in the first building and the 2nd on my next. I had no idea that they had two separate buildings with a few other stores in between so you can go to either one if one is crowded. What really stuck out to me was how supportive she was after telling her how I got laid off from my last job. While being in between jobs, I felt that small conversation lifted me up in keeping me going. Anyways, she does the job and I am happy with how my hair turns out. So even with the $10, I always suggest that you tip since they always go beyond expectations. I would give Linda's Barber Shop 4/5 with the simple straight to the point haircut and services. But going the extra mile and the hospitality, I will give an extra star for showing empathy in my situation, being welcoming, and just making their business more than a barber shop. I love supporting local small businesses that do a great job... I noticed the other day my last entry on Linda's Barber Shop was from July of 2015 so I thought I'd chime in again to update. Yes, I am still a total raving fan and have been a regular customer since 2011. Linda and all the girls here know me well... "I'm Rene, #6 all over :O)" I just love the vibe here. It's so totally small town no frills friendly. I think everyone that comes in here picks up on that because everyone smiles and chit chats with everyone. That might sound corny, but hey, it's a really nice touch to the overall experience. I also enjoy that they use a hot shaving cream and trim the back of my neck with a good old fashioned straight razor. There's nothing better and I always feel like a million bucks when you've finished. Also, the prices here are the best you'll find anywhere in the region. So thank you Linda's! A lot of times you get what you pay for... i see reviews of this place expecting something from Gene Juarez. It's a $10 haircut. keep it clean, keep it simple. after all it's a barber shop not a salon. Linda's hasn't let me down - i like that i can walk in and out in 30 minutes or less. No appointment necessary. There are times she gets a bit busy but there's a second shop two doors down to help out as well. There's nothing real fancy with my haircuts so I love paying $10 for it so i can get it cut every two weeks to keep fresh and clean. A simple #1/2 fade on the sides and a little bit off the top. i have learned with these cheaper spots it may take a bit of trial and error but if you don't speak up about the changes you want, bet you $10 you'll get the same thing the second time around if you come back. overall - it's a quick easy spot to get to as i can walk there from my house so i love it! read more

When I first came here I was impressed by the quality and price of the cuts, therefore I continued to be a customer and also taking my boys to get cuts every weekend, however, I was really disappointed about 2 weeks ago, while getting my lineup I noticed she was going to high and told her she reassure me and said everything was fine, well it wasn't! I was really upset and told her I was not going to pay because I told her the minute I noticed she was cutting to much. If you only want a buzz cut, they will do a fine job for a minimal price. Of course, you'd be an idiot to pay anyone for a haircut you could give yourself. Here, if you are looking for something that necessitates even a modicum of skill, look elsewhere. If you have anything other than the head that someone learns to cut hair on, as in a cowlick, scar, patch, or other irregularity, get ready to be butchered. I'd been growing out an undercut only to have her buzz down a cowlick and disregard specific instructions on the depth of the fade. Again, if you aren't particular, this place is great. But also, if you aren't particular, you probably shouldn't be rating businesses on yelp. read more
