Updated review- I didn't have a good first experience but I would like to update and explain that the head vet Dr is amazing she took the time to reach out make me feel better and double Check my fur baby she also insured my accuracy about my pets test and got him the meds he and his brother needed. I took my cat in for a ear cleaning and was told she had a yeast and bacteria infection. I let them attend to her ears with medication. When I brought her home, she was not the same. She was off balance and her heard was tilted and she would not eat or drink. After 3 days, I took her back and they ruptured her eardrum and clean the medicine out of her ears causing the rupture. Dr Hansen told me what happened. Later that day she became worse. She could not even walk. I had to take her to another vet and I had to put her down. Hardest thing to do. Called them to let them know, spoke to Dr. Hansen who was a rude cold hearted person. I will never go back again. Please be aware of this clinic. I heard from other people told me that they had problems with there fur babies. I am simply heart broken and they do not care about animals, only money!!!! read more

Terrible veterinary practice with abrasive and rude staff. God forbid you question what they're doing or disagree--then they pretty much blackball you. Look for yourself on their Google page. I brought my dog this past week, and usually see Dr. Tinio who is lovely, provides options for care, and explains information to you. I saw Dr. Hasson and she was quite frankly incredibly rude. It felt like I was talking to a medical doctor who was in and out of the room for about 5 minuets. She did not have good bedside manner and did not explain the options for care. Typically one of the veterinary techs come in and walk through the cost of care with you, though that did not happen. I was not provided a break down of the cost of services and was charged a heavy bill. I plan to explore other veterinary options within the area. read more

I was really surprised to see the bad reviews here. We've been bringing our three dogs and elderly cat to Cedar Way Vet for five years and have only had great experiences with the vets, vet techs and staff. Before covid, when we were able to go in with our pets, I liked that the vets got down on the ground with the dogs to examine them on their level and put them at ease. I've never had vets at other clinics do that. I also really like that either the vets or the vet techs follow up with phone calls within a day or two to see how our pets are doing. We've had nothing but positive experiences. read more

I came in with my cat bc she had not been spayed and developed pyometra which needed to be dealt with right away. The first vet tech I saw was completely careless, a larger Philippino woman, she first told me it was pyometra and THEN squeezed my cat's inflamed uterus so hard I felt an urge to stop her bc it was noticibly too much pressure. Then after the xray she told me to be careful not to touch her too much bc it could burst and kill her! Why were you squeezing her so hard then!? I managed to get 1000$ together for the surgery to happen the next day. I specifically told them my cat had been abused by its previous owner and was really scared of her neck being touched. When I took my cat home from surgery she was a bit loopy from pain meds but did not want to eat, I figured it was from pain or the meds. A couple days later she still could barely eat. I noticed her neck was swollen on one side and she was very freaked out when I attempted to palpatate it.. Then I called a few days before they were supposed to take her stitches out bc she has gotten very skinny from not eating. I tried to feed her with a syringe as much as I could but she is having a lot of trouble swallowing anything but water :( I took her in early afraid she would die from starvation or develop fatty liver. They took her to get some blood and she came back with a rope tight around her neck, hissing and growling! Infuriated I threw the rope in the garbage and tried to pet her, she immediately scrunched her neck up and started twitching and struggling to meow bc they re-traumatized her neck. Scared to death when the Dr. came in, he tried to hold her still and she was very scared he was going to grab her neck then I wrapped the towel around her and asked him to stay away from her neck. She bit me lightly a couple times, I did not react in any way then he tried to feel under her and she bit me very hard, his reaction was to grab my poor cat by the neck very hard and hold her a foot above the table, when he did that I yelled, "I just asked you not to touch her neck!!" ...it is his job to care for my PET and have a connection with her, not me! He's lucky I didn't attack him. Then he started writing a bunch of bullcrap frantically down on her paper like he was trying to figure what to do about her not eating, nervously he said "I don't think it's diabetes, maybe just pain still, try giving her cheap pate food and heating it up" after I told him I literally tried everything from broth to sardines to pate food. I then asked him if there was any tube in her throat and he looked worried that I asked that and said yes. I have now been crying and trying to feed my cat with a syringe while she shrivels up from starvation I'm pretty sure she is going to die. He also prescribed me more of the same pain meds which I looked up the side effects: abdominal pain, lack of appetite.. what a horrible choice for a starving animal! So I paid about 100$ to re-traumatize my poor cat today and got no answers and medication that should just go into the garbage. He lacked connection with my pet and did not seem to FEEL her pain or problems. I will never be back here and I can't wait to see a different vet's opinion. UPDATE: I went to a different vet who seemed to know a lot more about cats who took no blood bc it was unnecessary. She also told me her neck did seem strained but she suspected extreme nausea and gave her a shot for nausea and some high calorie pate food and within a few hours of being home my cat ate a few bites of food. If I had listened to cedar way vet and gave my cat more crappy pain meds and waited for her to eat I truly believe she'd be dead from starvation by now. Learn the way a cat accepts being handled and earn their trust. Vets should never be putting tight leashes around a cat's neck or handling them so roughly! They are sensitive animals. Also if he couldn't recognize the symptoms of extreme nausea he should've taken the time to look up the symptoms I told him. A couple weeks after this review I had to put my cat down because she couldn't eat I wish I had taken her to the other vet right away. read more

The vets here are great! However they do not communicate with their staff. I was told one thing by both vets regarding my pets didn't need a shot for a teeth cleaning then the rude staff told me my pets needed it and requested an additional office visit for $55 to get the shot. And another $30 for a test for parasites. Can you say "money grubbing" When I called them out not this they are now refusing to treat my dogs! Try finding another vet during this COVID outbreak which is impossible, however the 3 I did call do not require a bordatella shot for teeth cleaning. The office manager has 0 customer service skills and is extremely rude! Do not waste your time here, it's clear all they care about is the mighty dollar, not your pet! read more

Made an appointment to have my two dogs seen for the first time. Took the day off work and showed up at scheduled time to be told they never put my appointment on the books but the folder were made which means I had an appointment. They screwed up. Said they could now only squeeze in one dog in 45 minutes. We waited in the car for an hour. We were seen by the "new vet" at the practice. She gave my puppy a 5 minute exam and then told me all the wrong information on what shots he still needed. When I questioned what I was being told and they figured out they confused my two dogs records. After that appointment I was then notified via their app that both dogs needed to come back in 2 weeks for shots that they already had and were not due for UNTIL NEXT YEAR. I would rethink ever going to this vet. We took our new family member (pup) here. I went in for a Wellness Check. They pushed me to get him Neutered. I told them I am waiting another 6 months. I did mentions that my paper work on my new pup did NOT have a micro chip number. I asked about a Micro Chip Price and Procedure. But, because of how pushy they were with the neutering, I said I will wait unit next visit to get it done. Just a minute after I finally got my Pup back from its wellness check, The Breeder called to check up on my (our) pup. She than said YES, he has a chip. But isn't that funny. This Vet Clinic did NOT tell me that, even after I had asked about it. I believe this Clinic just wants your money and does NOT care about the animal or its owner. read more

I asked for a price estimate for my cats dental work and they told me it would be 400$ for the x-ray and an additional charge for every tooth pulled. While this is not her fault, when the call was over the woman did not hang up and proceeded to talk shit to the vet with me still on the line. Mocking my voice and berating me for not being able to afford the appointment. As a student, this is a lot for me to pay especially since my vet at home would charge 100$ roughly. Please learn better customer service, this phone call was uneasy as I heard what she was saying about me when she thought I was not there. read more

After a routine exam, found my dog needed a dental cleaning with tooth extractions. Was told had to do bloodwork and update distemper vaccine. When asked why my dog needed yearly distemper vaccine when AVMA recommends it every 3 years, was told because it was a "core vaccine" and if I didn't have it done my dog couldn't have surgery. I advised them after surgery we would be taking our business elsewhere. They did the bloodwork/ distemper vaccine and they sent an email 3 days later saying the results were normal but they refused to keep me as a client/ do the surgery because I didn't agree with yearly vaccines (that I did to get the surgery faster!!). My poor dog is gonna have to wait another couple weeks for pain relief now with the holiday!! Old practices/ policies keep your wallet unnecessarily open here! Scheduled with a new vet with current protocols for 3 year distemper vaccines who are respectful of their clients. read more

Our family wants to recognize the kindness and care exemplified by the staff at Cedar Way. We recently had to make the difficult decision to end the suffering of our dear friend Bo. He was with our family for over 14 years and parting with him was painful and filled with emotional distress. They took such care to explain and show us with great kindness and compassion it would be an injustice not to recognize Dr. Hoogeweg, Dr. Tinio, Rudy,Judy,Rebecka, Laura,and Mikaela their kindness and care will not soon be forgotten by our family. I should add that during the many years we have been going to Cedar Way we have always been thrilled with the service. Rather than working with us to correct the situation that they created, they take the route to delete so others won't know! Dr. Frank, Dr. Tinio and their staff care very much for each and every animal coming into their clinic. Yes things are different during the pandemic but they have done a fabulous job navigating the ever changing demands and keeping their staff, our animals and the owners safe. Love this clinic, especially Dr. Tinio. I've known Dr. Frank practically my whole life because my mom used to work for his family's clinic in Markham. However, I'm only giving 4 stars because of one of the vet techs (the one in the long skirts). She is incredibly rude, pompous, and arrogant, so much so that my wife and I feel uncomfortable bringing our pets in. We've switched vets because we live too far, but we will not miss that vet tech. We've recently moved into the area and Dr. Tinio has seen two of our cats - Mamacita and Pooky. To our sadness, we had to let Pooky cross the bridge earlier today due to cancer. We called to let them know earlier in the day and Dr. Tinio, Rebecca and the staff had a room ready, met us at the door and had everything taken care of ahead of time - they couldn't have been more compassionate and understanding. We have been seeing the doctors and staff at Cedar Way since they opened. Our dogs and cats have been given the very best of attention and care. Unfortunately, over the years three of our dogs needed help crossing over the Rainbow Bridge and I couldn't ask for more compassion than what we received from everyone there. We even received sympathy cards signed by all the staff; I cried it was so touching. Dr. Frank is the absolute best when it comes to explaining processes and diagnoses; Dr. Tinio is so caring. Debbie, the office manager, is very knowledgeable and helpful. We will continue to use Cedar Way as our number one "go to" vet for as long as we have our furry friends ( and then some). read more

My family used Dr. for approximately 20 yrs! Started with my parents and when I had my own pets Dr. was my first choice. Until a little over a year ago. I took my dog and 2 kittens in; the kittens went in to be declawed, my dog(the love of my life, never to be replaced! Never to find another dog as great as her!!) went in to have her teeth cleaned. Something Dr. had done a couple times before. It was the best thing for her to keep her healthy I was told. She was 13 years old and I was not ready to let her go. Overall she seemed healthy. She had her presurgical blood work up and was cleared for the cleaning. While Dr. had her under he said he would remove the little fatty growths that she had on her which were just due to old age no big deal but he would handle it since she was already there. I picked up my dog later that night, the kittens had to stay till morning. When I picked up my dog she seemed very out of it not her normal self. I walked her out to the car had to help her get in which was not normal could hardly stand she wasn't going to be able to get in herself. I drove right to the front door of the office and went back inside told them there was something wrong with her. They took her back in 20 minutes later they brought her back out to me and said she was fine just still a little bit affected by the anesthesia to take her home & she'll be fine. Well she wasn't fine but it was a Friday night & Dr. went home. She was breathing heavily and not very strong. I slept with her all night in the morning she wasn't any better could hardly move at all. I called Dr. office immediately and took her in. She died a short time after getting to the office. Dr. told me he's not sure why???? What??? I did what he told me to do to help prolong her life instead she's gone before her time. She was our pride and joy, we loved her so much and I took her in to make sure we had her for as long as we possibly could and she was gone. No explanation to be given! We were devastated, still are still miss her terribly everyday! I still don't know what happened or why. Dr. never told me I could have an autopsy to determine cause of death although expensive I probably would have done it to find out what happened, what did I do. It would have at least given closure, possibly? Instead I paid about $1200 and all I got was 2 kittens declawed & my dog's ashes & a broken hearted family! Yes he still charged me for the services!!!!! Then I requested my pet's medical records all of them and it took me several requests and several weeks/months to get them and even though I original asked for her records also they originally only sent me our other animals records and not hers. Why I still don't know. I had to ask several times and they finally sent them. Of course they don't appear to show anything but I just wanted them and not sure why they didn't want to give them up. At the end of her records it said. Letter sent. I immediately sent an email and asked what that meant because I never received anything. He said he sent a sympathy card. I never received a sympathy card from him. Although I had for other animals that I lost, never for this one. Maybe he did send it but it's quite convenient that I never received this one. I don't know what happened and I obviously never will but no explanation was given my husband went to the office and asked personally and the response was basically these things happen. I'm not saying he seemed cold. It was just not an acceptable answer and still isn't. It still hurts today like it just happened. it was devastating to the entire family. We took in a basically healthy dog and she died and no one knows why. The heartbreak is unbearable. The circumstances after wards didn't help ease our minds either. I shouldn't have had to ask for the medical records more than once, and once they decided they would send them they should have sent her also especially since I specifically asked for hers. When I talk to others about what happened they can't believe it and want to make sure we're not going there anymore. Then when I tell them I had to pay such a large bill even though she died they can't believe they didn't give me my money back. I never really thought about that till now because I always thought really money doesn't matter I would pay several times that amount to have her with us still today. But i don't have her and never will again. There's a void in our family that will remain forever the money means nothing other than it was obviously more important to him than my dog. I just want my dog back! or at least an explanation of what really happened. He can have the money and stick it where the sun doesn't shine as far as I'm concerned. I just want closure. Things happen I realize this but even just the handling of it after wards was unacceptable. I don't know why this happened or who's fault it was the dr.s, his staff, mine for taking her in? read more
