But if your kids love being challenged and love the outdoors, this is where you want them. My son is going to camp here for the seventh summer in a row and there is no place he would rather be. Our daughter loved being a camper here so much the five summers that she came here that she is spending this summer as a counselor. The kids stay busy doing things like tubing on Carter Lake, rafting, swimming, horseback riding in addition to playing amazing tribal games. But there is also a focus on spending time with God and how important that is for us. The counselors and staff are simply amazing. They are fun and full of energy and love and compassion. I could not recommend this camp more highly. It is truly magnificent.

There is a short walk from the main "west chapel" and cabins which pass this view, which definitely makes the walk enjoyable. There are many activities to choose from, which I unfortunately did not get a chance to partake in due to my fatigue (I passed out on the uncomfortable bunk bed during our free time). I heard there was paddle-boating on the lake, an archery range, a playground for younger children, a small basketball court with basketballs provided, and much more. While there are cabins available for living, you can also choose to stay in the "trains," which are located much closer to the dining area. The food is subpar, what you would expect from a camp like this much slightly better. This camp, as was pointed out to me by some friends, was in much better shape than many of these types of campsites I'd been to in the past. It's slightly smaller but perfect for a group of between 50-100 people. Mattresses are terrible, so bring a mattress pad for the picky sleepers. You will also need all of your own toiletries, bed sheets, blankets (sleeping bag) and pillow. I was only here for a weekend and I'm usually uncomfortable staying outside of my comfort zone, but this was quite nice and hopefully more events I am a part of could be held here instead.

We signed up for a family acct. One our first visit, we used the pool. The lifeguard informed me…read morethat our children had to take a swim test is they either (1. wanted to swim without an adult/parent in the water with them) or (2. wanted to be allowed to swim outside the arms length of the parent/adult). I was in the water with my 8 & 11 year old children because I feel like it is the responsible thing to do when you take your children to a pool regardless of their swim capabilities. I allow my 11 year to attempt the test for fun. The lifeguard wanted them to swim the length of the pool which my children can do. However, the lifeguard would not pass my child because the swim stroke was not perfect. I have personally been a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim team coach for over 20 years. My children know their strokes but I have not forced them to be on teams or swim long distance. Do I want them to, yes. But I have not forced it. My children have good strokes for more than half the pool distance but get tired toward the end and get sloppy but are not in danger. The strokes just don't look as nice as they did. Our children visit our neighborhood pool just about everyday in the summer and swim unassisted with no issues. It is winter and perhaps the kids are a little out of practice in the 4-5 months since it has been warm enough to attend the neighborhood pool but again, not in danger and swim fine. But not competitive swimmers. We were told that my daughter did not pass the test even though she could swim unassisted the length of the pool. So we just tried to enjoy our time in the pool and planned to try again another day. However, then the lifeguard reprimanded me multiple times because my 8 and 11 year old swimming children were outside of an arms length of distance from me. Again they swim on their own, and I am in the water with them if they need me. The swim test expectations are too high and I now understand why there were no other families there on a Saturday afternoon. The swim test expectations are too high and the lifeguards to strict on their arms length rule for families to enjoy this pool. Again, I have been a lifeguard, instructor, and swim coach for 20 years so I have a solid base of knowledge with which to make this assertion. I attempted to connect with YMCA on this via email. My email was forwarded to the Aquatics Director and I have not received any response. We are planning to cancel this membership as our children cannot go and enjoy the pool because the rules are too strict and I understand this industry better than most. With rules this strict, the lifeguard is really a waste of money as they basically don't allow children in the pool and only adults may swim. I would still love a response but If I do not get one, we will continue with cancelation. Good luck if you have children and planned to use this pool.

While the mission is truly incredible, our experience as volunteers didn't reflect that. We often felt unclear on expectations, received little guidance on working with the horses, and experienced inconsistent communication. At times, interactions felt distant, which made it hard to feel fully welcomed. Our final visit to the garden club--where we were initially told it was "full" without prior notice--ultimately solidified that this wasn't the right fit for us, though we appreciated Erin stepping in to let us help. That said, Monica and Dylan were wonderful and very supportive. I genuinely believe in the mission and hope the volunteer experience continues to improve with more structure and communication.

This location has a bunch of young and unprofessional staff working inside. I had a private swim…read morelesson scheduled two weeks in advance, and I drove 45 minutes to get to this location. Upon arrival, I was asked whether the private instructor had reached out to confirm the lesson. I explained that they had not and even asked whether that was part of their normal protocol. I was told that it was not. Based on that information, I proceeded to get my child changed and prepared for the lesson. After my child was changed and ready, I was then informed that the instructor had to leave due to an emergency. While I completely understand that emergencies happen, the issue was the lack of communication. I should have been notified before driving 45 minutes to the facility and getting my child ready for a lesson that was ultimately canceled. What was even more disappointing was that there was no follow-up communication or effort to address the inconvenience after the canceled lesson. The entire experience was extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of my time. I would not recommend this location. If you value your time and expect basic communication and professionalism, I would strongly suggest going elsewhere.
