So many options for ALL ages. Family atmosphere. Very attentive staff. Good vibes. Convenient.

We signed up for a family acct. One our first visit, we used the pool. The lifeguard informed me that our children had to take a swim test is they either (1. wanted to swim without an adult/parent in the water with them) or (2. wanted to be allowed to swim outside the arms length of the parent/adult). I was in the water with my 8 & 11 year old children because I feel like it is the responsible thing to do when you take your children to a pool regardless of their swim capabilities. I allow my 11 year to attempt the test for fun. The lifeguard wanted them to swim the length of the pool which my children can do. However, the lifeguard would not pass my child because the swim stroke was not perfect. I have personally been a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim team coach for over 20 years. My children know their strokes but I have not forced them to be on teams or swim long distance. Do I want them to, yes. But I have not forced it. My children have good strokes for more than half the pool distance but get tired toward the end and get sloppy but are not in danger. The strokes just don't look as nice as they did. Our children visit our neighborhood pool just about everyday in the summer and swim unassisted with no issues. It is winter and perhaps the kids are a little out of practice in the 4-5 months since it has been warm enough to attend the neighborhood pool but again, not in danger and swim fine. But not competitive swimmers. We were told that my daughter did not pass the test even though she could swim unassisted the length of the pool. So we just tried to enjoy our time in the pool and planned to try again another day. However, then the lifeguard reprimanded me multiple times because my 8 and 11 year old swimming children were outside of an arms length of distance from me. Again they swim on their own, and I am in the water with them if they need me. The swim test expectations are too high and I now understand why there were no other families there on a Saturday afternoon. The swim test expectations are too high and the lifeguards to strict on their arms length rule for families to enjoy this pool. Again, I have been a lifeguard, instructor, and swim coach for 20 years so I have a solid base of knowledge with which to make this assertion. I attempted to connect with YMCA on this via email. My email was forwarded to the Aquatics Director and I have not received any response. We are planning to cancel this membership as our children cannot go and enjoy the pool because the rules are too strict and I understand this industry better than most. With rules this strict, the lifeguard is really a waste of money as they basically don't allow children in the pool and only adults may swim. I would still love a response but If I do not get one, we will continue with cancelation. Good luck if you have children and planned to use this pool. read more

The service was good. The facility itself is kind of on a small size in comparison to other YMCA that I've been to across the country. But the nice thing about it, is that it is in a military community. Being that I am a veteran, I really did enjoy that part. I do recommend this facility for families... There are a lot of families that go to this facility because they have a library off to the side which is unique. read more

One of the best YMCAs I've ever been a member at & I've been a member of the Y since I learned to swim at 10 years old, so about a 23 year membership. I enjoy the fact that this Y has 3 levels with an indoor track with cardio machines on the & lower level with the weight room. There's a few aerobics rooms for classes, spin room, indoor b-ball court, indoor rock climbing ‍ wall, indoor pool, & a very nice outdoor CrossFit workout with kettlebells, assault bikes, etc. read more

I joined hoping to swim laps. It is too difficult & time consuming to get a lane at all; much less a lane you don't share with others. Their reservation process is archaic & impossible. read more

Love this place! So welcoming and has a variety of options to choose from! I'm a gym rat general speaking, and the free weights have everything you'd want. Also plenty of nice people who will help spot you if you need it, just gotta ask! Mornings around 9 are busy so prepare accordingly if you need to go then! If weights aren't your thing you can jump on one of the many treadmills, ellipticals, or stationary bikes (including Peloton!) that are available. Lots of swim programs and and a bevy of group exercise classes round out just about anything you'd ever want to do at a gym. Don't forget the childcare options! Our kids love it and always ask to go to the gym with us so they can play. You'll love the staff, the atmosphere, and all the options for health a fitness! read more

The facility itself is great. Prepare for a loud weight slamming environment, which was surprising. It's something I never had an issue with at other gyms, but this gym doesn't have padded flooring, so the weight slamming can get pretty sharp for my sensitive ears. I've been coming here for the body sculpting classes. I don't use the track, pool, weight room, cardio, etc. The teachers Kimberly, Jan and Cindy are the instructors of the classes I take and they are AMAZING. Great classes, great attitude, motivating and very knowledgable. I've been working out with them for 4 weeks total now (which has really flown by), 4 days a week and I already see a difference in my body and metabolism. If you are thinking about trying to get back in shape, I highly recommend getting a weeks pass and trying different classes so you can find something you enjoy. Great place with everything you need for your workout. There's something here for everyone and every age. Was a Y member in Florida and found this Y to be even better than my previous membership. Checked other gyms in the area but nothing compares to this Y! Love it! read more

Great value. I was considering other gyms because they are cheaper, but when you compare them side by side, there's no competition. Meanest Staff I've ever seen. I've gone to this gym for years-since high school. It was a good location, and had good array of facilities. But the staff-not really the instructors so much as the people behind the desk-are horrid. My mother once completed a survey, and for some reason they called my father's work phone to argue with her about her answers. Not only is that-super weird, it's completely uncalled for to get combative with people over a survey you asked your guests to complete. But we brushed that off. What really broke my heart is what happened to me a few weeks ago. I was wearing full length, high-waisted leggings and a sports bra-it was modest-AND I've worn such attire for years going here. The moment I entered, a woman named Suzan (spelled that way) came storming out from behind the desk yelling "WHERE IS YOUR SHIRT??!!" She proceeded to make a huge production out of ridiculing me for my outfit, calling me disrespectful, tried to have me put on a used shirt from lost and found. I was humiliated, and for what? Wearing exercise clothes? Not to mention, that as I looked around the gym there were FOUR men wearing shirts with the arms cut out, so they were not only less covered than me but barely wearing a shirt. Furthermore, I have seen plenty of men in there without shirts on at all, with no fuss. This felt like targeting. The general attitude here seems to be shaming, cruel, and histrionic. I felt like I was being picked out of the crowd for things I couldn't control-my age, my gender, even the fact that I'm fairly in shape was used against me-at a gym!! A dress code is one thing, but a dress code hidden on the bottom floor in pastel lettering is a trap. I left in tears, and haven't been back since. While management was kind and understanding on the phone with me, they had no concrete plans for improvement and were far more concerned with explaining the dress code than with Suzan's conduct (I have no problem with dress codes, as long as they are communicated respectfully.) It's so frustrating that the gym with the most options in the area has such a horrid attitude-I don't feel safe or comfortable there, I'm not sure where else to go that isn't far out of my reach. read more

I'm visiting family in Kennesaw and am not a fan of exercise venues. However, after being pushed and prodded I attended a couple of the water classes and now I'm hooked. The trainers are very skilled and take care to offer alternative options if a particular exercise is too strenuous. There are lots of family activities for all ages. read more

Moving into this area and being between jobs I decided to join the Y and focus on my health. I found this Y to have great fitness classes, friendly members and lots of activities to do for my children. I hadn't worked out in over 9 years but I was able to get set up on a weights plan and found several fitness instructors that would challenge me but not feel left behind. If classes are not for you they have plenty of machines such as rowers or treadmills you can use as well. Thanks to the Y I have lost weight and have meet my health goals. read more
