Finding restaurant food in northern MN on Mondays and Tuesdays can be tough as many are closed, but Cedarwood is one open all week. We stopped in for breakfast and it was delicious. They have all the regular options and I chose the two piece French toast with bacon. Their bacon was so good. Cooked perfectly, it was a bit thicker but not so thick that it so chewy. Pieces bit off cleanly and it had a rich flavor. French toast was equally delicious. I could taste a hint of egg in the bread, which was thicker than normal bread. So good. Staff was great. The other cool thing is they went all out on Halloween. Decorations galore. They had a skeleton family eating at a table. They had a hall or terror going to the restroom. They also had a miniature Halloween village where people added rocks with memorials of their loved ones as tombstones throughout the village. Very cool. read more

This is one of a kind restaurant! I have been here numerous times. There is a big menu and if your in the area you must go here. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. Parking is available in the front and back. There are booths and tables. They have a big dessert menu too. Cakes, cookies, muffins, shakes, malts and pies. read more

For what this place is, it is excellent. Classic Cabin country diner with home made food and a big selection of homemade pies. Ordered the hot beef sandwich, and where some will use the box potatoes and the pre made meat and gravy from Sysco, these guys do it from scratch. No overly salted junk here. Also shared a few pies with my mom and felt like I was back at grandmas. So good, we went twice during our stay. I don't expect instant/obsequious service in a place like this, so I wouldn't put too much stock in the reviews complaining about slow service or whatever. read more

It used to be one of the Best cafe anywhere. Until they stoped making broasted chicken because of this I give it one star . the pies are incredible the fried tacos are amazing. We went there to get broasted chicken and the broaster was broken, please contact them and ask them to get a new broaster, it was the best broasted chicken anywhere. Don't order the cheese burger off the senior menu the smallest burger ever it was a slider literally but waitress didn't tell me. I had my very last meal at this "restaurant" back in May of 2018. Back in the late 80's, early 90's this place had great service and food but in 2018,not so much. My parents and I arrived at 7:00am for breakfast on Memorial Day. There was only one other table in the entire place. The server wasn't friendly at all. I asked her if she had any non-dairy creamer and her reply was "I've got milk. Want me to bring you milk." I replied no thank you I will just drink my coffee back, thank you. While we waited for our food she came back only one to fill our coffee and proceeded to tell us about her late husband and late father. Honestly lady, I came here for breakfast not get the skinny on your family members who have passed. When our food came she asked is we needed anything else. I asked if they had any hot sauce that wasn't Tobasco. She said "I've got tobasco or ketchup, which one do you want?" in a not so friendly voice. My basted eggs were cooked hard. The "toast" was warm bread. So sad. I was so excited to visit one of my childhood restaurants and all we got was crusty service with sub-par foods. read more

We decided to stop here for lunch on the way up from the cities. Definitely glad we found this diamond in the rough! Not only did I love my Cakes and Eggs but my boyfriend got the German Burger and Fries (scarfed it down!) and all 4 girls loved their food (hamburgers x2, eggs and toast and apple pie) so much they cleared their plates. I did not get food, the power was out. Our server Janet was great at explaining what was happening with the service interruption, and bringing us coffee. The place was clean and the menu and prices looked good. The coffee was awful. Hot, but a very low quality coffee. After the four of us had a couple cups of coffee we paid way to much for the coffee we got and left. Janet was great. But, Please serve better coffee! read more

We were driving back home from Cuyuna and wanted to stop for a good home-cooked breakfast. I ordered the raspberry French toast, eggs and bacon. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. Ice fishing at Eddys on Mille Lacs and in need of some breakfast. This place worked out pretty well, about 15 minutes from the lake. Nice small hometown style place. Service was quick and food was good. Denver omelette was good, 3 eggs with plenty of stuffing, the hash brown serving seemed a little small.
