He was very slow and ran us way over budget (he essentially billed us 89.00 per hour to put in tile, and he seriously billed us for 48 hours of tile work to put in 45 pieces of 12x24 tile). When we would ask for estimates to finish, he gave an estimate, and then took twice as long as his estimate. When we confronted him, he literally said, it's time and materials, it is what it is. We finally had him stop work when he was close to 50% over our original estimate (and he STILL wasn't finished). The final quality of work was so bad, we had to hire a new contractor and have all the tile torn out and start over. Be careful!

Jon Lebel was pretty much the exact opposite. He communicated effectively, arrived when he said he would and had the job completed on time and on budget. We had him replace siding, repair some drywall and install some GFCI outlets for us. After getting the runaround and dealing with sky high bids from two other non-responsive contractors, I decided to do the dog door myself and put up some welded-wire fencing as a stop gap until I built up the patience to give the fence another run. After failing with two word of mouth referrals, I decided to give yelp a go and glad I did. Although Jon only had one review at the time, it detailed the kind of experience you should expect from someone you are paying to do a job: punctuality, responsive communication, integrity, etc. Worth a shot I decided, and gave him a call. Since it was almost 5pm on Saturday, I wasn't expecting to set something up for the next week, but an hour later he is at my house assessing the project area (and dealing with my overly excited and aggressively playful boxer). He does the necessary measurements and tells me he'll have the quote to me that night. In my prior experience with contractors, usually a few hours meant a few days, but sure enough I had a detailed quote that night. A few emails later, and we are set for a Tuesday start date. He again arrived promptly and got right to work and was 99% done that day (had to let the posts set overnight before installing the gate Wednesday afternoon). For a $105,000 pool, this pool house is an embarrassment. Stay away!
