I've been here for many events, like Ital Fest, Canada Day, New Years Eve, Japanese Festival and more. This location is very easy to park nearby except New Years Eve it was crazy ... The location has shaded areas around the building and Astro turf. If you can't find parking, go park at the mall and walk it. The location is accessible, with ramps for strollers. I've been at this location as a volunteer, as an award recipient and a regular patron enjoying events. It's a great location for events with many ways to "exit" a crowded area. This location is stroller and wheel chair friendly. read more

I have attended some holiday events in the past. I have also done some of my high school volunteer hours here for some of the city events. The events were pretty well organized. They are really popular and busy (especially in the summer). Parking is shared with Square One and residential/corporate buildings. It might be hard to find for the most part. Some of parking (by residential/corporate buildings) aren't free or have some kind of restrictions. If you don't to use the parking lots, I would suggest using public transit, car pooling or parking nearby and walking over. The skating rink was a pleasant surprise to me. I didn't realize that there was one up till a few years ago. High school students can get their some of their volunteer hours at events. They just need to apply and fill out a form through the city site. read more

This is the perfect place to hold festivals, concerts, markets, etc. There are many paid and unpaid parking options available in the area, but when you're attending an event/festival with few thousand people, you'll have trouble finding a parking spot; so, make sure to arrive early and guarantee your parking spot. read more

A great open area to explore the art, culture, architecture, and history of Mississauga. Great family-friendly space. If you live nearby, there's always events here. Being outdoors, it's also safer right now. Once indoor spaces are opened safely - be sure to check out the museums and other spaces indoors too! In the mean time during the winter - check out their ice rink (in the summer, it's a splash pad) and enjoy skating with family and friends. There are always art installations here that are fun to explore. Located in and around the Square! In warmer months, there are regularly food trucks parked around the Square! Or, if food trucks are not your jam - there are now LOTS of food options just a short walk away. And of course, a little further is the giant Square One shopping mall which holds the fantastic Food District - host of ever-new food options! read more

I went there to skate and the skating ring is nice. There are always festivals and activities hosted here throughout the year. I recommend to check it out. But for winter season there is a skating ring and if you do not have any skates you can always rent here. There is also an affordable crepe truck parked next to it. Celebration Square! I finally made it over to it. I heard this name countless times when the Raptors made its run to win it all in 2019. Working in Mississauga, I'd hear my friend and colleagues plan to get there and cheer on our team. Last weekend, I was hanging out with a couple of friends at Square One. They said that there were some food trucks at Celebration Square and that we should check them out. The walk from the mall to Celebration Square was roughly five minutes away. It was a gorgeous, sunny day that we simply walked it. We realized that we were at Iriefest. Cool! Celebration Square accommodated all food trucks, food stands, arts, jewellery, and more. There was a massive stage where dancers were strutting their stuff. The music was lively. It was great! There was green AstroTurf that made a square. Nice! Parking is everywhere. You can either use the various Square One parking lots and walk over like we did, or use the paid, underground Celebration Square parking lot. The rates were something like $1 an hour to a maximum of $6 a day. Rates are decent. However, I'd walk a bit further and park for free. I love this place for festivals and cultural events. How the Roman empire had Piazzas, Celebration square serves the same purpose. As the name suggests it is a place to celebrate. But what? Well, I would say, People, Culture, Traditions, Sports, Summers, Health, Movies and individuality, Unity, togetherness and what not. The good thing is it open and free of cost and a lot of parking nearby. surrounded by a shopping centre, a YMCA, library, transit station, making it very approachable. Kids love the splashes at the back, I love the different activities conducted in Summers & In winters skating rink. I still think they need to have more munches and nibbler stalls there! read more

Apparently this is the place to skate in Mississauga! It is completely free if you bring your own skates. If you don't have your own skates, there is a hut that rents out skates. It is cash only at $10 for the adult skates. You need a piece of ID for them to hold while you're skating and you collect it when you return the skates. You can also rent those ice walkers that help new skaters get a feel for the motion with some safety. If you forgot mittens or a hat, they do sell some but there's not a lot of selection. Next to the shop, there is a little area to get some hot drinks. There's also muskoka chairs set up under heaters for you to warm up. All along the ice rink they have rubber padding lining the floors so you can walk around in your skates. They even had some leading to the restrooms although I'm not sure if it continued into the bathrooms. The ice was really cut up when we got there with a lot of snow everywhere. We thought that the Zamboni that came out would help with that issue but it didn't do the most important part which was resurfacing the ice! It just brushed all the snow off the ice. A total tease and let down. There were a ton of people there during a holiday day and it got really congested in one particular section of the ice that narrowed. It was so busy that if you're just learning, I can see it getting really scary because people often zoom by or cut right across the path that most skaters are going. I kind of wish they had some sort of rink lifeguard that would stop this for the beginners. There are picnic benches around the ice to let you rest. Most of them were occupied by bags that people had left while they were skating. The City Hall building isn't the most scenic thing to look at but I saw they were trying to spruce things up with some neon signs nearby. There is parking underneath the square. If that is full, I did see a lot of people park at the furthest P3 parking lot that belongs to Square One. read more

My cousins and I had a great time skating here this afternoon. Public skate hours are 10 am to 10:30 pm. There are many picnic tables around the edge of the rink for people to leave their belongings at while they skate. There are also rentals for those that do not have their own skates, $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 years of age and under along with $5 for helmets and $8 to sharpen skates. It was quite a busy New Year's Day afternoon. The zamboni did come out to clean off the rink but it wasn't as smooth as other ice rinks. Since the rink isn't evenly shaped there was congestion at one end while everyone has to squeeze in to get through. I also noticed a lot of bumps in the ice which could be the cause of many falls. I'd love to come again but at a less busy time so there's more freedom to move around and not run into other skaters. read more

Love this place, especially during the warmer months! Winter months don't really cut it for me 'cause not only do I tend to hibernate, but I can't coax many friends who may have access to a pair of ice skates. :( I did make it out for a tree lighting event, but that was mainly 'cause there were food trucks there. During the warmer months, I've been to outdoor movies, Canada Day (w/ Carly Rae Jepsen, Dragonette), Ribfest, live World Cup being broadcasted, witnessed a movie/tv shoot, Superstore Tasting Event (& no, Galen Weston was NOT there!), & other live music event...all for FREE! Before/after events, it is also nice to take a stroll of the upcoming buildings, Sheridan College grounds, and other architectural stuff that makes you sorta forget that you're in the 905. Been meaning to actually eat at the C Café located inside the Civic Centre, but haven't gotten 'round to it! Notes: - BYOC/B - Bring Your Own Chair/Blanket for flicks as they're probably more comfortable! - I love pets, but I'd wish that dog owners would refrain from bringing their animals to stuff like movie events as I've witnessed some poopin' on the lawn - parents, please keep your young kids at home if something like The Artist is screening. Eventually, they'll get bored, start fussing, and distract others who are there to watch the film by wailing and biking in front of them - PLEASE DON'T LITTER, take your trash with you or use the bins! Well this is Mississauga's version of Dundas Square. It links the Civic Centre with the Central Library and is Located near Square One. Lot of things happen here! its quite awesome. They have various festivals like Muslim fest and fireworks on Canada day. There is always something going on, they try to keep entertaining people. Summer time if their is no festival, the city usually puts a movie on. Over all its a big square with a large stage, 2 massive TVs and various big speakers! So be ready for concerts. read more

Living in the Hurontario/Burhamthorpe area of Mississauga is a compromise between super suburbia and downtown T.O. You get to experience some "downtown-like" atmosphere but without the huge crowds. With Celebration Square, it's gotten even better. It's clean, has a good stage and sound system and always has good events (Canada Day, NYE, ribfest, South Asian festivals, etc.). In addition, they also have free movie nights. The Canada Day events are really top notch too since they always have a star singer (Down with Webster - 2013 and Carly Rae Jepsen - 2012). I think this place will start getting better and better attractions than Yonge-Dundas and Nathan Phillips soon too. Yeah, my real estate will go up in value! lol. read more

This is such an awesome place for local events. Ive never seen anywhere that can compare. Theres always something happening here. With daily events during the summer ranging from movie nights to car shows to yoga in the square and even bigger events all year round on the weekend. A huge splash pad in the summer to a skating rink in the winter. Its always exceptionally well maintained. Hungry? Don't worry about it you won't go hungry there's always food trucks and even bevertails which my family loves. If you're up for a great cheap meal though you can go not to far along burnhamthorpe and theres tons of great cheap food options. Visited celebration square last weekend for a culture and art festival. I've never been here before but in speaking to locals I learned that the awesomeness mine eyes were beholding of 2012 Celebration Square had not been there for long. An amazing stage, perfect for concerts and/or performances sat at the end of a long astro-turf field (brilliant idea) no more grass and dirt stains when enjoying a show. AND any festival concert attendee will tell you that having astro turn is super helpful when confronted with poor weather. Past the stage and field there is plenty of space for vendors at festivals and as an outdoor venue has many immenities close by. You are steps from SquareOne Mall, they have fountains for kids to keep cool and run through and you have the library right there as well. I was more than a little impressed. I hope who ever is in charge of booking acts here in future years looks to book more concerts as this is one of the best and most modern outdoor music venues in the GTA. I'm keeping my eyes on this spot...and so should you. read more

With how often I talk about events at Mississauga City Hall, I am somewhat ashamed that I've never spoken about the biggest space in the city - Celebration Square. After all, any venue that can handle the kinds of events this place runs (on a weekly basis, no less) is well worth your time. I'm not understating things when I say that Celebration Square hosts a good 70-80% of major festivals in the city. Everything from the City Centre Canada Day celebrations, to cultural events like ItalFEST and the annual Ukrainian Festival, more standard fare like the Rotary Ribfest and Farmers' Market, yoga classes and movie nights, and everything in between. It helps that half the square is protected by astroturf, which makes it a very suitable playground for enterprising children. I never fail to see groups of kids playing soccer in the square or just camping out whenever I visit. The square also has a massive stage that is the central nexus for live performances, more "shaded" areas which are prime spots for vendors to park at during festivals, and a giant public fountain on the far side of the square (near City Hall) that is perfect for lounging by on a hot day. Add in stuff like the newly-opened Legends' Row walkway and the nearby flower garden (complete with benches), and you can see how this square appeals to a wide variety of demographics. The city staff really hit the nail on the head when they first envisioned this space. Permanently closing off the street between the library and City Hall has also helped expand the space as a true public square, which I feel is greatly needed in a time where everything is being built up and out with no regard for public spaces. Celebration Square is one of my favored destinations in the city, and I always make it a point to stop and take in everything that's happening whenever I walk through it. Make this a prime spot to visit if you're ever in Mississauga. read more

A month or two ago, the square launched "The Porch" - basically 3 food vendors that are present every day of the summer now: a hot dog place, a crepe food truck, and a corn on the cob place. As other reviewers have mentioned, Celebration Square hosts a number of events regularly, such as movie nights, Zumba, and festivals. The events can get pretty overcrowded so I'm not a fan of going to them, but somehow nothing was happening today at the square (despite it being a beautiful, sunny Sunday in August) so the area wasn't as packed, and was mostly just children playing with footballs on the turf or running through the water fountain. We went to the crepe food truck and had a crepe with Nutella, coconut and pineapple. It was made very quickly in front of us but for some reason didn't actually taste hot (maybe the pineapple cooled it down quickly?). I'd prefer it without the pineapples next time... but it was good enough to warrant a 'next time' :) read more

The location itself has evolved a lot since the past few years. Adding events during the whole summer to keep everyone busy and entertained like different culture events each week (Japanse festival, Bollywood movie nights and so on) During Canada Day, there are always activates all day long. During the Winter season, they have ice skating for all ages there which is nice. The location has lots of parking, not too far from the square. Every time I have gone, it is always clean which is a plus. I would say that is a location is mostly a family community. if they were to lower the prices of their food trucks, that would be really good. read more

Spent the day with my laptop sitting beside City Hall and Celebration Square. How have I never spent any time in this open space, I don't know! Equipped with wifi, you can ditch your stuffy office and catch some vitamin D rays! The spot is full of picnic tables and little metal tables with chairs. There are nearby bathrooms and a cafe within city hall in case you need a coffee or a quick bite (not to mention always some food trucks nearby). The splash pad is always going and during the day it's not too busy or loud. I think I've discovered my new outdoor office (...too bad it's at the end of summer!!!) read more

Great place in the center of Mississauga. Every weekend hundreds of people gather here to see me and pet me. There's always a live band playing music , A few food truck with great smelling food which for some reson I never get any . They gave some great truf that I love to rub my body on. If you go up the steps they even have a spash pad pool I like running through it. This is a great spot. Come out and see me every weekend. read more

Mississauga loves to celebrate at this square!!! I have been here many times for different festivals, events, shows, etc. It is right beside Square One mall. They showcase movies, have fitness classes in the open air and the festivals are the best part. Last night I came here for the Canada Day celebration. The place was packed as usual!! There is an abundance of parking near by at the mall, green p street parking and green p in the condo parking as well. The square is big and clean and most of them time very well organized. Last night they had all sorts of food vendors. The selection was good but I felt there was more last year. But lines are very long. I managed to try to items, the Maple Leaf chicken hotdogs with chicken bacon!!! It was yummy! I couldn't resist the sweet corn, but they could have other flavours to add on. I didnt make it through the beaver tails line....one day i shall get to try them :( The night was great, the people were friendly, volunteers handing out flags, the crowds were in high hopes. Everyone was getting ready for the fireworks. One child was running quickly and uttered...'mom, they wont start the fireworks without me right"?......Minutes before the show was scheduled to start they cancelled the fireworks due to high gusty winds. So sad :((( But there were fireworks shooting maybe 20 km away....wasnt it windy there too ? I read online that they will reschedule the fireworks....lets see....ill keep you posted! read more

Was here for the 1st Ever Biggest Japanese Summer Festival Bazaar! The venue was really spacious, beautiful, & clean! The big tv screen monitor and astroturf adds to the modern posh look. I was disappointed a bit because I missed the opening ceremony etc..due to another engagment that I was involved. Got there close to 4pm and saw a handful of side non food vendors and a roll of food vendors in the middle. There were also a small section where they had games for the kids. I scoped around to see what kind of food interested us. Most of them were ramen, but I really didn't feel like slurping hot or cold ramen at the moment. Looked at the vendor list on my phone and decided to line up for Zen Japanese Restaurant. Was looking forward trying their Roasted Green Tea or Matcha Red Bean Shaved Ice........but they were sold out! o__O Ok off to another line then..Obento Catering Service. Their menu had changed from the one printed online, in person it was the Japa Kaga Dog instead of the Deep Fried Chicken Burger. And their Curry with Mixed Tempura was changed to Fried Chicken with Curry. Was excited to try the Japa Dog & Shaved Ice! But the time we got close to the stand........they SOLD OUT most of everything...lol...but I still got 2 Shaved Ice (Strawberry & Hawaiian Blue Flavour). Compared to the one I had at the Japanaese Canadian Cultural Centre yesterday, it was small but flavour wise, this one they had an added condensed milk added to it. Freshing regardless and hit the spot..summer sun was quite intense. Went next door to Yakisoba from Ryus Noodle Bar. It was also quite pricy..$6 for a small portion of yakisoba that fit in the palm of your hand. Taste wise was ok..nothing really special though. Next one we hit was Izayaka Ju! They had Grilled & Deep Fried Chicken Wings. Grilled one was salted & deep fried one was tossed in teriyaki sauce. Ordered both $6 for 3 wings. It was quite pricy..but the taste was so good, juicy & crispy skin! Cooked to perfection! That was basically what we tried food wise..cuz by that time most of them sold out already. Wished they had more selection and more food to last till 9:30pm..but close to 7pm just the yakitori and wings were left. I also bought a hand fan for souvenir and some cool water jelly beads! A great public square with lots of events when COVID isn't around. Any other time it transforms into a neighbourhood "park" with areas to sit and read or people watch. The wading pool is huge and lots of kids use it, and in the winter it turns into a skating rink but is sparsely used. So no need to go to Nathan Phillip Square if you don't like the crowds. read more

I am happy that Mississauga has its own downtown core where everyone can enjoy all sorts of events and concerts in an open area. I've never been to their outside movie or exercise programs but I'm sure many families are outdoors enjoying the free open space. The events I'm always here for are Ribfest, Canada Day (if I'm in town), or most outdoor events that involve food (i.e. Japanese Festival, SoundBites). I am huge food truck fan so if Celebration Square announces that a swarm of food trucks are in town, you can bet I will be there. For bigger stuff, Celebration Square may not be big enough to hold everyone. With Canada Day, you would have to bring your own chairs and stay in that space until the fireworks explode in the air or find a seat alongside a concrete curb and end up sitting there for over an hour (your butt will hurt big time). Unless your okay with standing on your feet and walking around then be prepared to squat in one place. Best part is, most events are free and it is a wonderful experience to get out of your house and enjoy the entertainment with family and friends. read more

Came here during the winter to go skating with some friends. They have a rental spot if you don't have skates which is pretty convenient and its not expensive at all to rent. We went skating for a couple hours on a Friday night and it wasn't overly busy which was nice. We had some space to move and actually skate unlike some outdoor arenas...in say downtown core Toronto. The ice was well maintained and there was plenty of spots to sit down and relax/chat. I am looking forward to seeing what celebration square has to offer as the weather gets warmer! read more

The place is family friendly, they can improve the cleanliness though. Washroom smells, its walls needs a good bleach because it smells like ammonia. Food trucks is a good idea. Splash pad is great for the kids. There's also a gourmet Tim Hortons at the area. Overall, it's a good place to chill with the family . I do sit in the morning in one of the picnic tables while having my coffee., although I must say, the picnic tables and chairs are not always clean, so bring your sanitizing wipes if you don't mind. read more

Easily one of my favorite places to connect with friends and family members and to enjoy yourself on your own too. From good trucks to produce markets run by locals who grow their own, and open spaces to connect with the Region of Peels people who are very diverse. There's a lot of stuff to do here with the gallery of living arts here, a fountain for people of all ages to come together and enjoy with their loved ones during the summer and screens that show documentaries about the indigenous communities of Canada's youth who are incredibly talented and passionate about reclaiming their own heritage and restoration of their own rights and relationships with their ancestries. There's also a lovely area called the Row of Legends which is amazing to see for inspiration about the people who have been doing amazing work for the world and communities from Mississauga. Finally take a stroll across the gardens which are beautiful here too and enjoy the sunshine with the birds and flowers, cobblestone lanes with lots of places to sit outside. read more

Came here for movie in the Square, we watched none other than Back to the Future. It was pretty awesome, such a great idea for the community. It is free, just bring drinks, snacks, blankets and/or chairs. If you forget snacks they have food trucks on site, I recommend the crepe truck! Nutella and banana for 5.00 huge size! We were shopping at Square One this weekend and as we were walking to our car, we heard some live music in the far off distance. With our interests peaked, we headed in the direction of the music and came upon the City of Missisauga's newly renovated Celebration Square. There was a huge stage with 2 jumbo video screens. On stage, performers from a South Asian cultural dance festival. White food booths lined the east side of the stage, serving up all sorts of yummy cuisine while bazzar booths hawking nik naks on the west side of the stage. A small audience in lawn chairs and picnic blankets sprawled on the expansive grassy lawn. A large wading pool at the back of Celebration Square offered some cool relief from the hot weather for young and old. While we dipped our feet in the shallow waters, we heard more live music coming from another nook. We explored further and found a rock band playing in an area called The Amphitheatre (north east corner of Celebration Square). Really impressed with this new public area, I would love to see some more live music. With Harbourfront Centre dropping the ball on the Beats, Breaks and Culture Festival this year, perhaps this is something that Celebration Square could pick up? read more
