I pointed Dr. Paek to the CT scan that showed that there was a tumor in his pancreas, and that the CT scan report recommended the EUS. I repeated this multiple times. My dad was under HMO and it seemed to me that Dr. Park understood the financial hit his business would take for referring my dad for EUS. Dad had many symptoms of pancreatic cancer as well - stomach pain, 30 lb weight loss, slept 20 hrs / day, etc. I brought academic papers reflecting the need for EUS. I brought a text message from dr. friends recommending EUS. Dr. Park insisted "no." Finally, I was able to switch dad to PPO, get him into Cedars Sinai, and Dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Stage 2b. I know they don't want to do it for free, so I made a phone appointment a week later. After the phone appointment. I explained my situation with dr Wu, he gave me an ab ultrasound so I went 2 weeks ago. When I went to the place, the nurse told me the ultrasound I have is only for the lower ab. she suggested to ask dr to write another latter for me to do upper and too. So I called the office and talked to Jennifer and told her what nurse said. Jennifer told me I need to make another appointment again! I was very frustrated and asked her please ask dr since I am one of his old patients. She said: I am not his old patient at this office! She was very cold and no mercy and not kind at all! When I went last week, they had a full house patient in the lobby, but the front desk lady and all other employees were all very friendly and patient. I was really impressed and glad my decision to switch the dr. I feel sorry for dr Wu didn't train his front desk person to be friendly, nice and professional. I guess lot dr they are busy, they might know how to take care of their patients, but forgot their employees specifically the front desk need to take extra care to the patient too since they work as a whole team.
