All entrants pay an admission fee (kids under 5 years are free), and all video games, kids rides, and older-style games are free to play. Mini golf and some other activities are Ala carte. There is street parking and an underground parking lot, but, on weekends, parking can be tough to find. There is a cafe to purchase food. Options are flatbreads, baskets, tacos, and more. The food quality is pretty good, but pricey. I get it. The place probably has large overhead costs, so a business needs to make its margins. There is also a beverage wall with various kinds of drinks (mostly-all (?) alcoholic), which are self-pour. I forgot to take photos. Trust me when I say the place is very unique and is great to check out. Pros: - Great place to bring kids - The older-style games are very amusing Cons: - Food is on the pricier side

I was visiting the area and the suggestion was go to Can Can. I was like, what the heck is that? It…read moreis a mind trip, literally. It is located in an old warehouse and it is filled with so much noise, colors, and visual effects that I was just bewildered at first. It was like ADHD on fire, squirrel, but then look at that, wait squirrel! Let's start with the biggees- $17 entrance fee and you can do whatever you want! It is an exceptional value. Golf is in addition and obviously food and drinks are separate. I have been to venues/places that have free games and many of them, but not to the caliber of this place due to the era of some of the items. There were games from so long ago, I had no idea that they even existed at that time. It was fun to see everything and try out original type games! I was like a kid in a candy store for hours! There is an area where you can shoot balls with high pressure and even put someone in the glass case to hit! That was fun, stuck the hubby in there immediately, he deserved it! Easy with drinks as well, card that goes over the filling area and you choose your beer with the card and keep on moving! A full bar is also available. There is a stage as well, so many things to keep you busy. Mini golf was a wait so we did not do it on that day, but I do plan to go back! PROS: Old games, seriously old games, so much fun everything is paid for with your entrance fee (except golf/food/drinks) Easy to get a beer with a card and your wristband Full bar Stage 80s games, newer games, even carnival type games CONS: Parking can be a pain in the butt, but there is outside across the street parking as well as under the building parking. Just take your time, it is worth it. Would I go again, you bet your mama I would. Have a great time, enjoy everything and take time to see, squirrel, the many ways this place is fun for every age!

It is no wonder that I love to visit the Conservatory in the dead of winter. There is no better…read morefeeling than going there when it's below zero, and your body does not even remember what humidity feels like. Sure, going to Hawaii is great, but if you want something closer and thousands of dollars less expensive (it's actually free, but they suggest you give them a small donation upon entry), I recommend a quick trip to the indoor conservatory. Save the zoo for a nice summer day. My two favorite areas are the topics, and the Sunken Garden. The tropics is the place to go for a hot, steamy reprieve from the Minnesota winter. It has lots of fun swimming animals, a sloth that is about as lively as a stuffed bear, but the biggest attraction, for me, is the incredible hot, moist area. But that's just one area of the Conservatory. Don't miss the larger part that includes jungle-type foliage, wonderful plants, and a display of orchids. We were there the weekend after the orchid show, but we were treated to the award winning and amazingly beautiful orchids. The highlight however, is the seasonal changes that take place in the Sunken Garden. This is an ever changing variety of seasonal flowers and can cheer up the crankiest of us who are just trying to make it through to Spring.

The Great Minnesota Get Together! Too many people for me…read morepersonally and it is always HOT but the food and beverages are plentiful and delicious!

I recently moved to MN and quickly learned from colleagues about how popular the MN State Fair is…read more I followed Nextdoor posts discussing whether the state fair was worth the crowds and money. Normally those factors would steer me away but as a recent MN transplant, I wanted to experience the fair firsthand. I met up with some new friends ~9:30 am yesterday (Labor Day, 9/1/2025). Knowing that parking would be difficult and expensive, I took a Lyft to one of the Park & Ride stations where I was able to take the bus for $6. When I got off the bus, I was offered a discounted ticket for $15 (normally $20) by a fair goer who had an extra ticket he didn't use. Once I got into the fairgrounds, we explored the livestock and agricultural exhibits. We loved the baby animals (especially the goats!) and the colorful dahlias. In addition to these exhibits, we also saw a lumberjack show. Fun! Now onto one of the most important - and highly debated - parts of the fair. The food! We shared the following: Cheese curds - first time trying them. Deliciously cheesy! Cream cheese wontons - average but came with a good dipping sauce Corn fritters - loved these. Perfect balance of sweet and savory Fried green tomatoes - not overly greasy despite "fried" in the name. Some people thought the tomatoes were too sour but I thought they were good Falawaffle - very tasty. I'd never seen a waffle using falafel batter elsewhere. Would love to pay Baba's in mpls a visit Three people in our group had the hot honey pizza balls, which I did not partake in as I don't eat meat (pepperoni). I wish they made a non-meat version but I plan to find a recipe online. The line was very long and though my friends enjoyed them, they didn't feel the wait was worth it. I got a frozen lemonade ($12) and frozen affogato ($10). Both yummy and perfect for a warm day! Of all the foods we tried, the cheese curds and corn fritters were my fave (and worth deviating from avoiding fried foods to keep my cholesterol in check). Weather was not too hot (60s/70s) and the crowds were manageable other than the very long line at the pizza place. The verdict: I'm glad I went and had the opportunity to experience a popular event in MN! I do agree with some folks on Nextdoor that the food is overpriced. I think the fair is worth checking out once but I'm not sure if I'd go again unless someone wants to go. Tips: 1) go with a group if possible as sharing food can cut down on costs. 2) take Lyft/Uber to/from the park and ride so you don't have to stress over parking!
