My sprinter van broke down on a trip and I gave Celtic Motors the exact make and model and told them what was wrong with it. They said they could fix it. So I had it towed there. Then they said they could not fix it, because they didn't have a tall enough lift. And its in the way and they can't move it. The tow truck driver gets there to move it and knocks it down a hill. Because it was in neutral. But Lynn from Celtic stated they could do the work and they could not move it. Liars!!!! read more

Was traveling through Glacier NP when my rare Mercedes G-Wagen broke down on a Sunday. Shredded serpentine belt caused by wobbly water pump bearings. Towed it here, spoke with them the next morning. They jumped on it right away, had parts overnighted from Western WA and had us on our way with a thorough repair. So glad to have found a good shop for a vehicle that isn't common in this area. Also saw a lot of old and new Land Rovers (RRCs, Discoveries, LR3s), Porsches, BMWs, etc in the lot. I'm sure they do good work on all makes. Super friendly people on the phone, providing the info we needed. Alex went above and beyond and came and picked us up at our hotel in her personal car so we could get on the road asap. We have a Sprinter Van that had engine light turn on and went into "limp mode". Found Celtic Motors, which is the only shop in many miles that has very experienced mechanics that can work on these vehicles. The receptionist was also very kind. We were blessed to get David who was so friendly, diagnosed the problem quickly, and gratefully had the part on hand to fix the issue immediately (and just before 5pm). Okay people... I always find myself asking where you can find a good mechanic. You all know what I'm talking about; someone you don't think is going to rip you off the first chance they get, charge you for unperformed labor, overcharge for parts... right?! Well these guys are it. Thats really all I can say. So, we had a car overheat during our Christmas vacation to Whitefish and were told to have the vehicle towed to Celtic Motors. I could not be happier with their service. They fully explained everything that was a problem and even UNDER-charged on labor since they said it took them longer than they expected to complete the work. These guys are going to continue to get my business every time I'm in need of service in the Flathead Valley. Highly Recommended. read more

John really knows his stuff. Specializing in foreign cars, you take it here, and your problem will get fixed. Period. It's great to have that kind of confidence in your mechanic Downside is, it's quite spendy. This is partly due to having to pay high prices for fancy car parts. They will try to get a refurb for you and I appreciate that. I highly recommend them. I would also recommend Greg at Avalanche Motors in Whitefish. He is a lot cheaper than Celtic and knows his fancy foreign cars too. But, now that we live in Kali, driving to Whitefish is usually too complicated. Celtic will do the job right so the money is usually worth it. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Celtic Motors. I was in the middle of a cross-county road trip when my A/C started flooding the passenger floorboards. Not debilitating, but not comfortable. I called them from Portland, OR, to make an appointment for when we passed through Glacier NP. John (the owner, I think?) asked me a series of questions and (accurately) diagnosed the issue over the phone. I explained that I was on a road trip, and John was very accommodating with helping me schedule an appointment when I would be in town. They fixed it perfectly (not a single issue since then!), and were fine with me leaving the car overnight since I was doing a long hike in Glacier that day. All in all the people and the service was fantastic, and I'm sad that my new favorite auto shop is 3000 miles away. read more

OMG! Be advised that this shop will totally rip you off if you drive a Land Rover, or pretty much any Foreign model they service. We paid &1200.00 dollars to get new Brakes. Brakes! Imagine if the LR4 was actually broken. They charged us twice as much for the discs and pads then they should have. Called them after we left when we realized how much we paid (admittedly we were side-tracked when they were cooing over our pups) Laurel thought it was perfectly ok to charge us for each individual part instead of how they come as a box set. When they do it that way, they mark up each part 20% instead of the box set at 20%. What a rip. Maybe there's another shop in the valley for foreign makes? This last bit is kinda weird but they usually have a packed parking lot with cars that are already fixed and waitIng to be fixed (busy shop). It's like a desolate wasteland out there. I first tried Celtic for an oil change and watched the people. They are very conscientious, particular & precise about how all is done and I realized that these are the kind of people I'd like taking care of "my baby" (BMW). I am so pleased with every aspect of Celtic. They are all very mechanically smart!, work as a team and go out of their way to help their customers. For example, as a customer at Celtic, I thought I could give them readings from a compression check done by another company, on my speed boat's cylinders. I hoped they would take the time from their busy schedule to look at these numbers. John, the owner dropped all, brought in his team and actually took a new compression check on my boat to not only give me their opinion but also to confirm that the readings were correct in the first place. Heard about Celtic through a really airheaded co-worker but somehow managed to ignore that and give them a call. VERY glad I did-they have restored my faith in mechanics. Competent AND honest, they are usually very busy and you may have to leave your rig longer than you might wish, but it's worth it to know your problem will be diagnosed correctly and repaired RIGHT and at a very fair cost. They made the best of a bad situation. I work across the street, went to leave for lunch and splat...something was leaking underneath and had exploded in my engine bay. I called them, they told me to bring it over. Once I got there, John came out and looked at it and told me right away what it was and that he would try to have it done that afternoon. I have never taken a car to a mechanic and them say they could fix it the same day. They were great and I was driving it home at 5 that night. The owner John and my technician Dave are both extremely knowledgeable, professional, and meticulous. I own a 2016 E63S AMG and was hesitant to take my car to a non dealership shop for servicing the transmission filter and fluid. However, the nearest MB dealer is in Missoula, which is not exactly convenient for warranty work, let alone routine service. The job involved removing and reinstalling an aftermarket billet aluminum transmission pan which has it's own unique installation quirks. Well, in the case of Celtic Motors, my hesitance was completely unfounded. Between John and Dave, there is probably 70-80 years of Mercedes Benz service and repair experience. Those two know their business! I would say they know more than most of the techs at the MB dealerships with whom I've dealt over the years. Frankly, I am extremely happy I gave their shop a try. I now have somewhere local to take my Benz where I can feel extremely confident that the work will be done thoroughly and with the meticulous attention to detail owners like myself expect. As an added bonus, not only do I not have to spend an entire day driving to Missoula and back, but the labor rates are a significant savings over a Benz dealership. read more

Would never do business with them again! John is a nice guy but they will put used parts in your car and charge dealer retail for them. I had a coil repalaced they said was caused by leaking valve covers, they supposedly repaird the leaking valve covers and replaced the faulty coil, one month later had another coil go bad took it back they replaced a second coil, 1 hour labor and $112.00 for the coil, curious I looked to see if they had really replaced a second coil or the same one again. They did replace two of the coils but with used ones the price was dealer new! Less than six months later my valve covers were again leaking. Most recently they replaced my ABS controller when i got the car back my radiator had a crack in it. $1100.00 later for the controller now my abs brake and dsc lights are back on, I was told it was a brand new one, I have my doubts but I certainly paid the price for a new one. I have not driven the car 1000 miles. These are just two of a list of stories I have about the over priced poor workmanship at Celtic motors. Never again! read more
