I signed my children up for dance lessons at Shanon's Dance Academy and it is seriously one of the…read morebest decisions I have ever made for them. This area has a lot of dance studios but what drew me to Shanon's is that she has a heart of gold and treats everyone with courtesy and respect. Her warm demeanor, pride in her studio, and care for her students and their parents really shine through in every interaction I have with her. She is also a true professional who is quick to reply to any emails with any questions I may have. Just as importantly, Shanon's Dance Academy students are under the tutelage of the fabulous Ms. Martha. Under Ms. Martha's firm, no-nonsense approach, my kids have really improved in their dancing skills over the past year and their love of dance has only grown. And although Ms. Martha doesn't coddle her students, she possesses the necessary balance between being tough and gentle at the same time. She treats my kids and all dancers with dignity so that when she gives them constructive criticism, they actually want to improve and work hard to do so. Shanon and Ms. Martha are a real team and they put on an amazing end-of-the-year recital each June that my entire family looks forward to. My kids have been in two recitals so far and the recital experience is one that I really feel has been a positive in their development. I could go on in my praising of Shanon's Dance Academy but I will end my review by saying that my kids always come home from their respective dance classes in a better mood than before they went. And they recently told me that they never want to stop dancing! It is my hope that they never do - and I am so grateful that their love of dance, as well as their technique, is being nurtured and developed at Shanon's Dance Academy!

Parking on a Saturday morning in Ferndale was shockingly not hard to find, you just have to pay unfortunately. It's not crazy expensive though. The entrance to push pilates is through the back of the building; I only found this out because I followed other people. Everything was already laid out and clean. The instructor checked everybody in individually as they walked in. The HIIT Pilates class was amazingly tough and satisfying. I enjoyed the music and instructor. The only thing I didn't like was a kid younger than 10 being there, and so many late people coming in messing up the flow. The instructor had to keep bringing out more mats and equipment when class already started. So she ended up putting the kiddo on the couch in the back so the late people could have a spot. Not sure if that normally happens but it was definitely a distraction to her and us. I understand 10 minutes being late, maybe even 15 minutes, but after that, I think there needs to be some sort of limitations

They also have a website and a mobile app where you can sign-up for classes and make changes if needed. -- A sense of community is what makes Fuse45 stand out from other gyms. I am 50 years old, overweight, and about as flexible as a broomstick. I have had ZERO dance or gymnastics training in my life. I've never done the splits or even a pullup. My upper body strength is lacking. And sometimes I lack confidence in myself. In just a mere 3 months of Lyra classes, Aerial Dragonfly had me performing a wide variety of moves, poses, and flows in the Lyra, and they helped me develop so much conviction in my abilities, my body type, and my age. I became stronger and much more confident, and with the encouragement of my instructors and new friends, I participated in their spring Student Showcase. I was literally performing in front of a large, supportive crowd after THREE MONTHS of learning and practicing at the Aerial Dragonfly. It was amazing! I've *never* been in a community that was so instantly supportive, fun, encouraging, and gentle. I've spent time with 4-5 instructors and learned something new every time. I've made so many friends and I look forward to seeing them every week. We really support each other and enjoy each other...from all walks of life. You have nothing to lose. You can sign up for one class at a time. You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish, and the incredible community you can become part of. I'm proud to support a woman owned business and a Veteran owned business. I've taken two lessons so far: Lyra (aerial hoop) and trapeze. Both of my lessons have been with Dari. She is one of the owners and she's amazing! Such a patient and kind teacher. I felt instantly welcomed in the space. Such a spacious and beautiful studio! There is a parking lot too. This studio offers a variety of modalities, including aerial hammock, aerial yoga, pole dancing, Lyra, trapeze, aerial silks and more. I plan on trying everything! Plenty of mats and things to stay safe. It's easy to book classes online through their website, and they offer packages too. These are private lessons, and the prices are very reasonable.
