My mom visits from San Diego often and has taken several classes here with me. She always comments on how much more variety this studio offers compared to hers back home, and she's been equally impressed with how warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable the instructors are. I stopped attending the studio February 2020. In August, I received a call from a collections agency stating I owed $360 to this studio, even though I hadn't attended classes all year and did not authorize any membership renewals. I reached out via email and phone repeatedly to Pure Barre to discuss, but received no communication. I was worried about the charge affecting my credit score, so I paid it and thought that would be the end. Several months later, I receive another call from the same collections agency, this time for a charge of $419 for Pure Barre. Again, I called and emailed repeatedly, even emailing/calling the corporate headquarters, but received no communication from Pure Barre regarding this charge. I paid the collection because I'm worried about the impact on my credit score, but reached out to Pure Barre to request a refund. I haven't attended class since February 2020 and received zero communication from Pure Barre but yet I owed collections over $700 !?!? This is inexcusable to me and I still haven't received a refund. I understand covid has been tough for fitness studios, but by conducting their business this way, Pure Detroit/Birmingham has lost a customer (and I'm sure I'm not the only one).

The 15 or 30 minute workouts were led by motivating virtual instructors. Classes included Hot Stretch, Hot Barre, Hot Yoga, Hot Pilates, Hot Cycle, and more. The structured classes made it easy to get in an efficient workout. I haven't sweated so much in a long time! In the back, there was a training area called the FX zone equipped with dumbbells, suspension straps, kettlebells, etc. As for the fine print, memberships are starting at $59/month. I am unsure about the onboarding fee. But, you must buy their branded equipment to participate such as the HOTWORX Mat and Towel. You must download the HOTWORX Burn Off app to schedule workouts. And, guests are only permitted during staff hours. Additionally, the cancellation policy requires a 60-day notice or a $99 fee for immediate termination. I'd recommend giving HOTWORX a try and see if it's a good fit for you, but as for me, the pricing turned me away.

Barre has been my workout of choice for the past 3 years and has made amazing changes to my body. Center Stage is a fairly new boutique barre studio and OMG you guys you HAVE to check it out! First of all its beautiful. The space is super clean and large and such a wonderful welcoming environment. All of the teachers are a-maz-ing. They have some rockin' play lists and give you a super challenging workout. One of the things I love about this studio is the hands on adjustments that they give you. Barre is hard if you have never practiced it before. Some of the lingo might be confusing. But don't let that scare you!!! The teachers here are awesome and will move you into the proper position constantly throughout class. Center Stage has 3 different varieties of classes from the classic barre to a more cardio focused class. Whatever you pick you will 100% get a super hard full body workout. A lot of people think barre is just for girls. Let me tell you - I brought my husband to a barre class once and he just about died. Lastly - the retail selection here is on point. Every time I am in I see another tank top I want to buy! Moral of the story - check this place out. Scared of barre?? Don't be!!! Barre teachers always tell you "give yourself 10 classes". I visited the Life Time location in Bloomfield, Michigan on Saturday, July 8th for a day of massages and relaxation. A friend purchased massages for us both to enjoy. As I waited on the friend, I inquired on the timing of the massages as I was under the impression massages were 30 mins. As an fyi, timing wasn't an issue and didnt mind that the friend's massage went over time. I only inquired on the timing as I planned to participate in another activity and didn't want to miss the masseuse (Cassie) if I ventured off to do another activity. Cassie was absolutely wonderful by the way. The receptionist at the front desk of the spa (I did not get her name however she has two tone hair that appears to be gray and purple) started to speak to me in slang when answering my question. She stated that my friend booked two sessions and "that's all she can tell me" and "that's all she knows" while throwing up hand gestures. As I tried to explain to her that there is 2 of us and both sessions are 1 of each, she just kept going back and forth with me while speaking in slang and odd hand gestures. I obviously took the way she spoke to me as her having a preconceived notion about me. The woman was aggressive and she refused to speak to me in proper English, yet I observed her behavior before and after the encounter and she miraculously became professional again towards other clients. I feel that her mannerisms towards me were hostile, insulting and felt she was mocking me as I am a woman of color. Cassie (masseuse) took me back after the encounter and I confided in her. She helped me relax and was the best part of this entire ordeal. Also, judging from other reviews on Google, mistreatment due to ethnicity seems to be the norm at this location. I will do everything I can to get the word out about this location and the receptionist I had the displeasure of interacting with. I only wished I would have recorded the incident. Her actions towards me were not only unprovoked, but aggressive, evil and hateful. My friend has been a LifeTime member for years and she introduced me to the gym and I am interested in becoming a member as a result. It saddens me that an employee can practice micro-aggressions on paying customers, member or not. Very disappointing and hurtful to say the least. I only hope the spa employee does not treat any unsuspecting guests the same way. To harbor hatred for a demographic and act on it with aggression is unacceptable especially when this employee represents Life Time as a brand.
