Sara is very respectful of how you'd like to parent and offers alternatives if certain methods weren't working out (for example, my son would not sleep during the day and I wasn't ready to let him cry it out - so there was a period where Sara or the other caregivers would tote him around in a baby carrier to get him to sleep). After that, we received no communication for 14 months. When we finally reached out, Little Sunshine reneged on their promise of part-time care and had no opening available as originally assured. When we asked for a refund (given that we paid the fee based on inaccurate information) we were told the fee is non-refundable, even though staff acknowledged that multiple families have expressed similar frustrations about misleading waitlist practices. We were promised a follow-up from a higher-up, but no one ever called. In our view, the $350 waitlist fee was paid under deceptive and misleading circumstances, and the lack of communication and accountability has been very disappointing.

Before I begin, I would like to preface noting that our child is a toddler. One who has temper…read moretantrums and cry's/screams, as many toddlers do. She's probably at the more difficult end of the spectrum, but still within the normal range of toddler behavior. We Sent our child to TLE for ~ 6 months. Initially she seemed to really enjoy herself and would willingly go. More recently, we noticed a change in her demeanor- she seemed way less happy and even despondent looking. We decided to remove her from TLE and try another environment. The new daycare also noted there was another child who recently moved from TLE who had a similar experience (and the thought that something may have happened or something was not right). We emailed TLE to let them know our child would be leaving. The content of the email was not at all hostile and was very concrete and polite. We never received a response, which we thought was bizarre, but continued to give them the benefit of the doubt. When we went to grab our things from TLE, they acknowledged receipt of our email but did not offer any additional concern or even a "sorry it didn't work out". We thought this was super weird at the least, and borderline creepy. In summary, we're glad we went with our gut and switched . I realize others may have completely different experiences and would not base your decision making on this review alone. We had a positive view of the staff up until the last few weeks, and this is one case from one parent. The lack of follow up was pretty disheartening though, and the primary reason for my review, as you would think members of the caring profession would at least care to ask about the child they cared for for a reasonable amount of time. We understand there are staffing shortages everywhere, covid is not making things any better, and childcare is one of the more difficult jobs around. However, this is our story and I figured it was worth sharing.

This place is special and unique and provides an invaluable sanctuary during the chaos of parenting. I attend at least once a week if not more with my son going to their childcare. Miss Toni is fantastic with the kids and my son loves playing in the childcare space. He has friends there, toys he enjoys and he loves the special art projects too. I have greatly benefited from their classes too and love that so many are inclusive with my (very affordable) membership. The setup at this Y is not my favorite. There is only one bench available that isn't attached to a barbell holder and there are an excess of Elliptical machines and bikes. They've done away with the floor area to make room for even more of them. Someone must have demanded that, but it sure wasn't me. It's cool that this branch has an ice rink, though I've not used it yet. Parking is easy. Staff is friendly. However, there's no steam room, the towels are tiny, and unlike other Y's, you can neither borrow nor buy a lock. Most let you do one or the other. I'm glad this branch exists, but it's average in my estimation.

Over our time there, Director (Julie) and Assistant Director (Mariah) lead with love for the kids and a strong commitment to their roles. My daughter had many great teachers, ending with Ms Ivonne who is one of the greatest teachers either of my kids have ever had. This place is warm, friendly and structured which is the perfect combo for our family. The teacher turnover is low which is a big plus for me. The school provides tons of updates during the day and most of all my son loves it. We were at another center for 4 months and my son would cry everyday at drop off. At Primrose, no more tears just Bye Bye Mama! The only issue I have is my eldest son wants to go to Primrose too. Maybe I shouldn't have brought him with us on the tour‍ Thank You Primrose Lafeyette Team, we are very excited to be part of the family.
