The tickets usually are between $20-$25 and can be obtained online for a small fee or at the box office on the day of the show. The seating chart is on their website. The staff had no idea what was going on or how to serve a large crowd. It was complete chaos in the theater, and no one had any idea what order the guests had arrived in. After sitting for 30 minutes with no acknowledge from the staff while we witnessed 15 others who arrived after us being given menus, then drinks, and some already receiving their dinner orders, we decided to leave. The manager was contacted to refund our ticket price. He agreed but seemed unconcerned about what was going on upstairs in the theater. Cannot recommend Gilson's unless you can find a time when no one else is visiting.

Customers with medical conditions like Crohn's disease, allergies, or other dietary needs are forced to throw away or put away their safe foods, making it impossible to enjoy their experience. To make matters worse, she refuses refunds when asked and only offers useless coupons--even though most people who endure her mistreatment have no intention of returning. The reason I'm leaving this review is because of how horribly she treats customers--even after you spend $100+ on a trip with your family. If you bring a snack from outside for yourself or a disabled child, even when you're already paying for theater snacks, she makes it an issue. This is ridiculous and overstepping. As a customer, it's none of her business if we bring a specific snack for a medical or personal reason, especially when it's justified and necessary. What makes this even worse is the owner's constant claims that she's running a "small mom-and-pop business." But her behavior is anything but. She acts more like a dictator than a community-focused small business owner. By degrading and harassing customers, she's giving small businesses a bad name. This is not how a true small business should treat people. On top of that, she manipulates her business's reputation by posting fake reviews. For every negative review, several fake positive ones suddenly appear, written by obvious bots. This is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and cover up how horribly this theater is run. The theater itself feels abandoned and neglected, with stale food, unprofessional staff, and an overall uncomfortable atmosphere. It's not just a bad experience--it's downright concerning. If you've been mistreated at this theater, especially if you were forced to throw away your snacks due to special dietary needs or denied a refund, FILE A REPORT. Contact the ADA, the Better Business Bureau, the health department, and local consumer protection agencies. Consider reaching out to local news stations to bring attention to these serious issues. Local love at this fantastic annual arts and crafts festival!!…read more The Avon Arts Association creates and runs a perfect festival, set in the upper parking area (between two separate [but connected] lots) in between the small businesses in Old Avon Village. It is very easy to ambulate (and thus wheelchair accessible, which is hard to find in local festivals and farmers markets)!! The festival is very well advertised, with huge stand-up signs along the roads near the main streets of Avon and colorful flags and balloons bordering the entrance to the lots. You are led the way in!! You are able to see a number of local artists and their showcase works. From woodwork to jewelry to hand-dyed tie-dye to photography to paintings, you will see a little of everything here. I was really impressed by the number of vendors here!! I saw the talent and passion with each vendor as I passed through. It is really fun to see the excitement vendors have when they show their work. I was able to interact with the vendors, too, and chatted with a few about their items. Each vendor--including the shop owners at the antique shop that is in the center of the festival--was incredibly kind and, again, very passionate. I purchased a beautiful and unique ring at Two Birds Jewelers (opening a storefront in Ashford soon) and gorgeous tie-dye scarf and t-shirt from Deena's DDJ Designs ("tie-dyed clothing with a heart and a twist"). I spoke with the jeweler who crafted my ring and learned about the stone and setting; then I later chatted with Deena who made my tie-dyed pieces and who told me how to care for my funky one-of-a-kind wardrobe items. I really enjoyed strolling through, seeing local artists and their talents. There really is nothing like seeing local artists showcase their work and their passion. The only problem with this festival is the parking. There are small and windy roads in this village's parking, so it can be tricky to navigate to find a space in the limited number of spaces it has. You may want to go early--though you may want to anyway to miss the crowds and see the items showcased by each vendor more closely before anyone else--to grab a close parking spot. When I went mid-morning, I lucked out by grabbing a space down a flight of stairs from the center of the festival. I saw others though parking in the lower lots behind the larger complex and walking uphill to the tents. Overall, I very much like the smooth and accessible space this festival is set in, so it is worth the walk. There were a considerable number of people there when I went, but the festival is perfectly spread out so foot-traffic is not an issue. If you are not able to make one day, do not worry--this festival is open two days. Even if arts and crafts are not your thing, definitely stop by. You will see the local talent and may get a free sample of ice cream!! Why not support local every chance you can?

Both of my kids participate in lessons, classes, and concerts through the Hartt Community Division, and they are one of the best-organized youth music programs of this type in the country. Having observed numerous Suzuki schools in the US, Asia, and Europe, I am always impressed at the quality of the organization and the consistently high level of music making of the students at the concerts. The cello studio, in particular, is always a joy to hear, with strong performances at every level, from "Twinkle" to Tchaikovsky. The instructors are highly engaged with the students, and I am always enthused at the depth and breadth of material covered in their private lessons--and parents are encouraged to attend and take notes until the students are old enough and don't want us there anymore. :)
