I took two days off work for my procedures- one day for colonoscopy prep and another for the colonoscopy and endoscopy themselves. I paid $150 for their transportation service and also paid out of pocket for all of my prep supplies. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that the office had given me the wrong colonoscopy prep instructions, which meant my colonoscopy had to be canceled and rescheduled. Since I was already there, in a gown with an iv, they proceeded with the endoscopy. After that. I didn't hear from the office for an entire week. Thev finally called to reschedule the colonoscopy. I returned the call and left a message asking to discuss reimbursement for the transportation and prep expenses I would now have to pay again because of their mistake. No one ever called me back. What's especially frustrating is that the office called and messaged me repeatedly before my procedure to make sure I confirmed my appointment. But when it came time to take responsibility for their error and address my concerns, they went completely silent. It's now been over a month since my procedure. I still have zero biopsy results and nobody will return any of my calls regarding anything. I had to stop taking the medication prescribed to me because the side effects were bad. I called the office to find out what to do about the medication. Never heard back from them. I continue to get sicker with zero answers. I'm hiring a lawyer tomorrow. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. read more

This place is a joke!! Nobody answers the phone. you have to leave messages and they never return your calls. I had to drive 40 minutes to their office to talk with them. I moved 40 minutes away and I need my records sent to someone closer and they won't return my calls. I filled the info out in person for them to do it but they aren't sure when it will be done. lol. Incredibly unfriendly and flippant I've been to this practice 3 times now and not once did I step away feeling like I had answers. Anytime I bring up potential long term health problems caused by Omeprazole, I got told "well it's better than cancer" The final straw was today when the PA told me to use ChatGPT to make myself a diet plan. I would leave 1 star If I could. Although the Docs are good, the office staff is abysmal in submission approval claims to insurance for scrips. Twice now in the last 6 months, this has happened. Most recently met with doc over 3 weeks ago, said he would submit paperwork that day, Insurance still has not received it and approval for necessary scrip for Moms health is about to expire. 2 voice mails, an email and even a visit to the office and stiil no response from the person thats supposed to do the paperwork. Yikes. The reviews of this office reflects my experience with them. I've consistently had issues with their admin staff sending infusion orders properly and efficiently, and returning my calls. The doctors give fine care but nothing special. For context, I've had IBD for 20 years. Honestly, this office and the staff has made me feel like a burden when I've been sick. They might be ok for routine scopes but if you have a complicated case of chronic illness, you won't get empathetic care or the feeling they'd go above and beyond for you. It's been very tough finding a Beaumont GI office with good doctors and responsive admin staff :( If you're reading this and have a chronic GI condition, please don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and the care you deserve. April 8, 2025: I was in town on an extended stay with family and since I turned 47 in March, I figured I would get a screening done. This was my Colonoscopy experience review. Being an out of pocket patient, I called inquiring about paying for a Colonoscopy screening procedure. They were one of the few offices who actually called back, which I appreciated. The cost was very reasonable. They sent me follow ups via text and emails about how to prep. The day of my procedure I arrived at the office. The onboarding was a breeze and everyone seemed very polite and professional. Dr. Bologna was conducting my colonoscopy. I was brought back and explained the procedure. I was wheeled in and once the anesthetist adminstered the drug I was out in a few seconds! I woke up in the recovery room to a cordial nurse who brought me some apple juice and my father was allowed in the room as well. The doctor came in and indicated that all was clean and there were no polyps or issues and that I would not need to be screened again for 10 years. They provide you paperwork with pictures they took during the procedure, which is nice to have. Overall, this went swimmingly and I could not have asked for a better experience. I see the office getting a lot of negative reviews, but as to my recent visit, being a brand new patient with no insurance, they offered a very reasonable price and rewarding experience. Easily the most unresponsive medical "professionals" I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They WILL NOT answer their phones. They WILL NOT return messages in a timely fashion, or sometimes not at all. As far as I can tell, their solution to all problems is "we're going to start you on Prilosec..." Like lady - I'm 50 years old and that's been tried half a dozen times. Maybe answer your phone, actually listen, maybe try another course of action? Evidently they have too many customers, and they charge accordingly. And, lets be honest, they're a business that's in it for the money. When a business treats their customers badly, best option is to give your business to their competitors. If you have any other option but to deal with these people, do that instead. read more

My rating is specifically related to Elizabeth (Liz) who works in the financial counseling department and Tonya who works in the Insurance Verification Department. I'm a returning patient of Dr. Leonard Quallich who is absolutely AMAZING! Because my insurance has changed since my last visit I needed to confirm if my new insurance was accepted. I originally spoke to Liz a few months ago but didn't save her contact information. I spoke to at least 4 people to get confirm if my new insurance was accepted and, unfortunately, I couldn't get a straight answer. I can't express the relief I felt when I was finally transferred to Liz. As soon as I heard her voice, I relaxed and knew I was in good hands and would get a correct answer. Liz's handles cash patients but she transferred me to Tonya who works in the insurance verification department and she is just as amazing as Liz. I have tremendous respect and appreciation for the physicians at the Center for Digestive Health but I think those behind the scenes are just as important deserve to be recognized. read more

I was referred here by a NP for acute gastroenteritis following food poisoning. I cannot agree more with the other reviews, the office staff is the most idiotic and incompetent Ive ever seen in my life. They sent my lab order to the wrong email address, didnt even check before sending. They cant spell a four letter last name apparently even though it was written on the form. Took 48 hrs or more to reply to messages and phone calls regarding urgently needed medication. I had to go there in person driving 30 mins each way to get someone to talk to me. And even then the admin told me I needed an appointment to discuss lab results with the doctor!! Totally misinformed. Good luck EVER getting through on the phone. The doctors themselves are decent but the staff is so bad, you will wait forever and get sicker as you wait. I wish I hadnt bothered. read more

Terrible Experience Do not recommend this facility. Had a colonoscopy scheduled for 7:00 AM went threw the grueling prep for this test. No food for over 24 HRS(Part of the prep) I was 10 minutes away from my appointment I get a call from them canceled my appointment at 6:50AM. Asked if I wanted to reschedule? No Way.. if this is how you treat your patients with the extreme prep for a procedure. I surely I'm not putting my life in your hands. I will go elsewhere. I waited 45 minutes for Dr. Amir Abadir to join our telemed appointment before I finally gave up and left. I understand providers run behind but 45 minutes of waiting is truly unacceptable. My time deserves to be respected just as much as theirs. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I was first given a lab order sent from the PA, went to the lab waited 30 minutes, they looked at the order and nothing was checked off, the office was closed, so I left and waited the weekend on Monday I was given my correct order. Which results have come back, last week, some marked abnormal with no call from anyone! In the meantime I was scheduled for a procedure at 7am arrival time on Friday with a 2 day prep. 24 hours into the awful prep I was called and asked do you know your procedure time was changed. I did not, and after missing work and prepping for 24 hours I could not arrive later due to my personal schedule that day. I was feeling very frustrated. I was then rescheduled for a few days later, I received a call that same day asking me to pay $300 towards my deductible, my first thought was no way. I missed work, prepped for 24 hours, you should not be asking me for a dime right now. I spoke with a manger who told me the billing manager was out of the office and someone would call me Monday the day before my procedure, as she was going to email them but did not see why it could not be waived she could not do it as she was not a billing manager. No call form the billing manager Monday. I did get a call from finance saying I owe the $300. I asked to speak to a manager. Finally after not getting a call I spoke to Jennifer explained the entire situation, and she did apologize quite a few times, she finally said I will write it off we don't want to lose you as a patient, I explained I was not even looking for them to write it off, I just was not comfortable paying a dime right now after all I went through, we agreed I could put my card down once my insurance was billed and the claim received then they could charge my card. Suddenly as we were talking she said her boss who was off and emailed while we were talking and she could not do that. So here I am prepping for the second time. And I did choose to cancel, as my trust in this office is zero. All the mistakes and they still wanted me to pay, I missed an entire day of work, I was given the run around several times, and still not even called with my test results. Oh and I have prepped twice now. The communication level is frightful! They just treat you like a number. In an emergent situation and given my test results I am in awe they did not try to work with me. Instead they just wanted my money! I hope this does not happen to anyone else! read more

I needed my infusion 2 weeks ago and it was like pulling teeth to get someone to answer the phone to make an appointment and now it's a whole other obstacle to get them to just send the script over in order for me to get my infusion. Whenever I call no one is at the desk. They seem to not care about their patients or are just unable to do simple tasks. How does it take days to send over a script? I still have not received my infusion because of them. UPDATE: Finally got a call back and they blamed me for the script not being sent? HOW? I don't sign scripts? Even though I had my appointment? They also snidely mentioned all the calls and faxes they were getting from the infusion center on my behalf- maybe answer those calls? I'll be looking for a doctor elsewhere. Behavior was inappropriate and unprofessional and catty to be honest. I'm sorry I had to cancel a past appointment and reschedule but in no way am I the first person to cancel and reschedule. read more

My gosh, don't EVER get hooked into seeing a doctor at this office. We have NEVER waited less than 2 hours to get into our appointment. The explanation is: We overbook because otherwise it would take months for patients to be seen. Instead of hiring more doctors and scheduling adequate time for patients, they just work short staffed, overbook patient appointments, then make patients wait HOURS to be seen. Absolute disgrace. Just awful. We complained months ago. It did not get better, the wait time grew longer. Do NOT get started seeing any doctor in this practice or else you will fall into the same trap: Unable to see new doctor because you have to start from square one all over again. read more

I need to get into a DR right away. I have had severe constipation for well over two months. My regular DR did Xrays and said my large intestine is just filled with Feces. She said I am close to having a blockage which is really serious. I don't know why my colon just stopped working and am scared. I have called this place 5 times over the last 8 days and no one has answered. I have left messages about how urgent this is and I need a colonoscopy ASAP and no one has called back. Dr. Bologna is a great doctor. I don't know where i would be in my life with out him and his team helping me out. Dr. B is also on a experimental trial team looking for new cures for GI related diseases. I was involved in a couple trials that did help me. Make sure you ask about any questions or concerns. Great doctor. He was even featured in HOUR magazine for Top Docs. As for the office... waits are a little long, but I understand. They have great doctors. The office always has a few people in the waiting room. Very Clean office. Nice staff. As for the procedures i have had related to Troy Gastro- No complaints except 1. 1. - The prep for a colonoscopy is to drink a full bottle of Miralax Laxative to flush your system. That stuff is going flush you out like you just woofed down 100 greased lightning sliders from White Castle. It is not enjoyable experience for anyone. By the end of the night you are so thankful it is over. You will never want to see a bottle of Miralax again! BUTT WAIT...... the first thing you see at the Troy Surgical Center is a empty bottle of Miralax with silk flowers in it greeting you on the check in counter. Thats the very last thing you want to see the morning of your procedure! I think they realized this because it has since been removed. It was a creative thought, I will give them that. Granted that may not have been Troy Gastro's fault per say... butt they work hand and hand with the Troy Gastro. This practice makes it impossible to schedule an appointment. Call their scheduling department and sit on hold for over 20 minutes. They have an option to press that lets you leave a voicemail so you don't have to wait on the phone. Unfortunately, those voicemails only get responded to once in awhile. I saw Dr. Abadear. No matter what time or date I scheduled, I would be seen 50-70 minutes AFTER my scheduled time. They ask you to get to the office 10 minutes before your appointment. I do just that. Sit for 30 minutes before they call me back, sit me in an exam room for 3 minutes, the PA comes in and takes my vitals. (Blood pressure, updates prescription info, etc) wait for another 20 minutes, then in comes the Dr. I am not the type of person to write a bad review after one visit. Drs sometimes get busy, over loaded, stuff happens. However, I brought my his up to the staff and the dr after it happened like clock work, EVERY. SINGLE. VISIT. I was clear to me that my time was not important to them. I decided to switch doctors within the practice, not wanting to throw out the baby with bath water. They told me I needed permission from the Doctors to switch and would get back to me. They transferred me to Amanda, I'm guessing an office manager? I followed up with her 4 times, (once with a voicemail pleading with her about how much pain I am in that went unreturned). There are too many Gastroentologist in this area to deal with being treated like you don't matter. I recommend avoiding this practice and going with someone who cares about you and your time. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. The staff is ridiculously rude. I have had to come to this office for my infusions. I have wanted to go somewhere else for some time but transferring takes some time because you have to get referrals and approvals. So when they found out I was getting other means for my IV meds they canceled all my appointments. I now have to wait an additional month if not longer to receive my infusion even even though it is imperative that I get it on time every 4 weeks. It just goes to show that so many have a job based on a paycheck not because they actually care about what they are doing...i was just a number and money to them. I was not notified my appointment was even canceled. So now I risk not being in remission because of their lack of compassion for me as a patient. Do NOT come to this office! read more

I feared going through the procedure but the nurses, technicians and staff at Troy Gastro are very competent as well as kind. Dr. Willie performed the procedure. I work in health care and wasn't really concerned or nervous about the procedure. However, if anyone does get super nervous going to the doctor's or having procedures done the team at CFDH will take great care of you! Dr. Webber was amazing at explaining everything to me and making sure I had all my questions answered. Keri the nurse Pre-oped me for my procedure and she was awesome and made me feel comfortable. Mary was my CRNA, and she was amazing!! I made sure to tell her I'm hard to put out and keep out. I didn't wake up once and I took a lovely nap, and I was wide awake leaving the procedure room. (This never happens they always have to force me awake.) Sabrina was the Tech and she was great, made sure I was comfortable how I was laying. Noelle was my Post-Op nurse and she was also awesome! She made sure I was well taken care of, warm and left with everything I needed. All in all, I had a great experience with them and they gave me grade A medical care. I would not recommend this place at all. I had an endoscopy and have a balance for the procedure. I spoke to Amanda and wanted to set up a payment plan. She was not pleased with how much I could pay. She was not cooperative at all. She wants my bill paid off in 2-3 months. Over $300!!! I have never had an issue anyplace else I have ever been with payment plans. I would not go here at all. The patient is not cared about just the money. I am going to see someone else from now on and already discouraged a couple of friends to pursue an appointment here. Please think twice!!! read more

The doctor is fine, but the two times I've been there I've had to wait an unbelievably long time. When I asked after an hour long wait how much longer it would be, the receptionist said she didn't know. No apology or even a hint of regret for the wait . The doctor was just really busy today. When I walk into the surgical center for my operation, the attending nurse asks me if I have any jewelry on and when I say "No" she hands me a plastic bag to put my clothes and effects in. "Take all of your jewelry off and put your clothes in the bag." I am unable to suppress the mental images of ovens that suddenly overtake me. Here I am, about to be sedated, not with Versed, like everyone else, but with Propofol, the shit they killed Michael Jackson with. Then a group of strangers is going to steal my blackberry, shove long, snaky tubes up my ass, post pictures of my torture all over some snuff-film website and put me in an oven. This is my fear. "I've never been under before and I'm a bit nervous about it," I tell the nurse. Instead of responding to my vulnerable confession, Crazy Nurse asks me if I use recreational drugs. Apparently this is one of the questions they ask to determine how painfully I will die. "...I have," I say. "WHAT?" I look at her. Awkward silence. Clarification: "I mean, 'What kind of drugs? Marijuana? Other things?" "Oh, just marijuana. And I'll have a beer once in a while--I mean, more than one beer. But--" She turns her head away from the clipboard she's writing on to shoot me a look of righteous indignation. "Never recklessly," I finish, hoping to exculpate myself. While all of this is going on, I realize I am on the verge of pissing my pants, and I start worrying that I'll lose control over my bladder when they put me under. I ask the nurse how long the procedure takes, hoping to gauge the danger of not getting up to pee before the surgery begins. "Eternity!" she belches. "I mean, twenty minutes for the colonoscopy, five minutes for the upper endoscopy, and 20 minutes in the recovery room." I decide that this seems manageable. I still don't know whether I peed on the nurses. I only know what happened leading up to the procedure. Dr. Bakken comes in, full-moon face and twinkling wide white smile, so white. She asks me if the laxatives worked, and I say, "Yes, they worked so well--I'm very sore." "Good" she says. "Well, not 'good,' but, you know--that means they did their job." Dr. Bakken was a nice and professional woman. "Yes," I agree, hoping she'll be gentle with me. Then the anesthesiologist comes in and Dr. Bakken says, "This is the anesthesiologist" because apparently the new doctor can't be bothered to introduce herself. She's kind of attractive but won't look me in the eye, and she appears angry, as though I've inconvenienced her somehow. "I'm sorry," I say to her, "for breathing. Also, I don't think I caught your name." "Ixpiel myanshal harrumberg neterbaer ..." she grumbles and shoves her I.D. tag into my face in a way that makes it impossible to read her barbaric name. All I can see are the flames raging around the black holes of her pupils. Suddenly the anesthesiologist disappears and a new woman enters the room. The attending nurse looks as though she hasn't slept since Reagan's administration ended and that she couldn't muster a smile were Obama to take to his knees to bestow upon her a spicier sort of American Recovery Act (an orgasm being another thing she appears to be in serious need of, in addition to sleep). As these perfectly quotidian thoughts are ponging around my braincase, the woman who's going to kill me with propofol sticks a chunk of blue plastic 1.5 inches in diameter and an inch thick with a hole in the middle into my mouth and starts taping it to my cheeks. I feel as though I'm being prepped for a bad S & M movie. They tell me to scoot forward and to turn onto my left side. The anesthesiologist bares her fangs and begins to drool. My heart races. *** The next thing I know, I am awake and feel the soft petting hands of my girlfriend. There is no fire and I do not see Anne Frank anywhere. Jessie has the plastic bag with all of my things in it. She is smiling. I start venting about how evil the doctors are, and the nurses too, forgetting that they're all still there and within earshot, that they can still kill me at anytime--or worse. But they do not. They leave me in peace with a blissful ignorance of whatever awful events have just transpired, and on my way out of the office, the nurse hands me a sheaf of papers containing pictures of my asshole and colon. I am relieved to be alive, though slightly disconcerted that visual records of this experience exist. I still haven't been able to muster up the courage to google myself since the procedure. p.s. I went to see Dr. Bologna for an upper endoscopy. This was my first time having any kind of procedure done as well as my first time going under. I was a little nervous going in but when they took me back to the room for prep everyone was very friendly and I felt very comfortable. I then went back to the procedure room and everyone introduced themselves, told me to bite a piece of plastic, and told me I would feel some burning when the sedative went in. It wasn't even burning it was more like a cool sensation and I was out. Next thing I knew I was being awoken and given some juice. It was very quick and as pleasant as a procedure could be. read more

Already in trouble at work taking time off for appt, going to be in bigger hot water for being gone so long. My mother had an appointment with Dr. Donat and needed to confirm the appointment before going to the office. No one called to confirm the appointment the day before (which is weird enough), but before making the trip over to the office on a snowy day, I tried to contact the office to verify the appointment - NO ONE was answering the phones!! Everything was either voicemail or some "press this option" or "press that option." I get it - patient care is important. However, part of patient care is being available for questions. I found it extremely odd that there was no one answering the phones. Makes sense when I see the review from others stating that the wait time is over 2 hours, and that the office overbooks..... read more

If you are the patient's driver, be prepared to stand while you are in the waiting room. Almost 40 people crammed into this dingy space. I went down the hall to the restroom. When I came back, my chair was taken as was nearly every other chair in the room. Note: I'm giving negative star. I called to cancel my colonoscopy because I didn't have any more symptoms. And the doctor didn't have any notes of this conversation in my medical record. Dr. Bakken still insisted I do it just to be sure. This gave me the impression that this will be preventive, and thus covered by my insurance. I even called my insurance provider to be absolutely sure this will be preventive procedure and 100%covered. Lo and behold I got $1500 in unexpected bills that I'm fighting at the moment. Well if you have a rare disease that encompasses your entire body Dr Bakken is not for you. After many years of seeing her she has quit trying. I don't know if this is because of the new health insurance issues in America or she is just a lazy sack like the rest of Beaumont's GI department. The only way I would ever recommend Bakken to anybody is if you need one test or your condition requires very little homework for her to do because she NEVER took the time to seriously look at my diagnosed life long disease that most certainly effects your GI system. At one time I would've said she is the best GI Doctor around, but now she is just in it for the money and to keep that waiting room full to pay for all luxuries in life she has. It must be nice to have a job that you make a ton of money for doing nothing in the end when your patient needs you more than ever... The best part too is after switching to another hospital and GI Doctor I had a non invasive test done that in all my years with Dr. Bakken she never performed. This test along with a new prescription have solved all the problems I was seeing Dr. Bakken for? One test and one prescription that she NEVER tried cured me 95%. How after all the years I spent with Dr. Bakken did she never try what my new Dr. tried who is also a Gastroenterologist? Again I say, Dr. Bakken is in it just for the money and to keep her three different offices full and surgery center. She is a poor, poor Dr. at best. read more
