I felt that it was an extreme satisfaction on the immediate positive results after the Vitrectomy surgery was over. Dr. Parekh performed the surgery with the Knowledge and Skills needed for the results to be an Outstanding One. After the patch was placed on my right eye, I dared to open my eye to check if the "floaters" were still in my eye. To my surprise, the floaters had disappeared completely! Not even one was left in the eye! I am extremely grateful to Dr Parekh for such a performance. My heart will always remember his demeanor as an excellent professional and caring individual. While the medical care is excellent, the patient communication and office professionalism is horrific. After multiple instances of false information by the office staff the doctor said he would take care of it and we went ahead and started to schedule the second eye surgery. Come to find out at the time of scheduling that there is a non refundable deposit to even schedule the surgery. So if an elderly person gets sick before the surgery and has to reschedule, you loose $100. There are no exceptions. This will make an unsafe environment of people showing up sick because they can't afford to loose the deposit and shows an attitude of the all nightly dollar being more important than patient safety. My elderly mother has chosen to find an eye surgeon who puts patient safety above the dollar. read more

I was checked in 10 minutes early and waited over an hour past my appointment seeing patients that came in after me being called for their appointments. UPDATE: Told that they will call me the DAY BEFORE SURGERY AT 4:00 P.M. TO TELL ME WHEN I HAVE TO SHOW UP THE NEXT DAY. So, I'm supposed to request time off work, get someone to take me/pick me up (can't drive after surgery), take care of the house/dog/family all in the few hours the day before. Tone deaf to what patients have to resolve and the stress they cause. Been on the phone for 45 minutes getting transfered all over to get my receipt for the over $1K I paid yesterday. No one has a record of it. Surgery center says they don't have my lens for surgery. So more stress. Seems its up to the patients to follow up on all the paperwork? scheduling? ORIGINAL: Agonizing stress to have eye surgery and to compound it I have the staff calling me to insist that I pay in advance of the surgery? Not a big fan of paying for services not rendered. On top of it, I have not been officially "scheduled". They keep telling me "you're on the schedule" but can't give me a time. So, after they told me that I can cancel/or they will cancel if I don't pay -- I paid them (over $1K not a small amount). They told me they'd email me a receipt. Well, that never happened. Now, I have no idea what's going on. Now I have to stress over the surgery, whether I'm scheduled or they cancelled it, why they never emailed me the receipt. Some of the staff at the reception can be rather unhelpful, but once you get pass them the doctors and technicians inside are actually very nice and caring. Especially Dr Lopez, he's the best! Once he's with you, he spends time to make sure he answer all your questions and go through the photos and exam results with you. I stopped going here for a couple of years when they stop taking my insurance, but recently, not happy with my experience with the "in-network" doctors, I returned, and found that even without insurance, the prices are really reasonable, in fact way less than what I ended up paying at other places for my share with insurance. The doctors are definitely of a higher calibre. However, as said, their basic staff can be a mess. One time I checked in at 5 for my tests, the reception told me I missed my 2pm appt with the doctor. I told her no, the doctor had said very clearly I was to take the tests first so he could see me with the test results. Then another time they were confused to what I need ultra sound on. Thankfully the doctor did a good job explaining everything so I knew, and was not too shy to be vocal about it. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Cypen for a medical issue. After waiting in line to check in over 30 minutes I was advised that a fee of $250 was required and, if medical, the amount would be refunded. This was not mentioned at time of making appointment. I explained this was medical and asked to speak with manager, Rasec Fabregas, who told me that I had to pay up front. I was not seen by doctor and will not be returning to Center For Excellence In Eye Care. It was not the point of paying but, lack of service and not advising me that this was required. Ever since my long time doctor (Spektor) retired this place has deteriorated both in service and care. Bascom Palmer is far more superior than this Center. read more

The Center For Excellence in Eye Care is a great place to have any eye situation taken care of all in one convenient place. From a routine eye exam (glasses, contacts) to more complex cases( glaucoma, retina issues, etc) this place can meet all of your ophthalmological needs. Yes be prepared to wait. I don't understand when people review any place that you'll be getting excellence medical care and complain about the wait time! Yes it stinks I agree but maybe there's a reason for that? Try going to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and not waiting. Both high quality, respected ophthalmological centers. The staff is and has always been very professional. My only issue with the Center for Excellence is that they should divide the check in & out line. However, it does move quickly. read more

I was seen the following day by Dr. Parekh who was a very kind, comforting, sincere, compassionate doctor with efficient skills in his work. Dr. Parekh performed and repaired my vitreous hemorrhage. I was very scared thinking i would loose my eyesight. Dr. Parekh and his staff are truly amazing and i will be truly grateful and humbled by this positive experience. If you like waiting and being treated rudely, this is the place for you. When you enter, the seven women at the check-in desk do not make eye contact with you, just ask the insurance questions about the payment. While checking in patients they are carrying on a conversation with each other. Today I spoke with the assistant office manager and she was so rude and aggressive, she actually came on the side of the desk by me and was yelling. In the open waiting area! My entire family, parents, brother and husband have been going to the office for over 20 years. The practice has gotten so large they are now all about money, assembly line patient care and indifferent, rude staff. read more

Have had to call 5x in two days and still no resolution. Need records to see another physician they recommended and can't get those because medical records doesn't call back and I can't get into the portal. My contacts with Dr. Louis Kasner have always inspired confidence and respect that my evaluations were in the right hands, and that Dr. Kasner consistently never fails to see the big picture in my and family's personal eye care. His discussions abilities displayed practical approaches for solving eye problems for me as an aging individual. This place should remove the words "excellence" and "care" from its name and then they're more accurately representing themselves. I walked up to the front desk to make the followup appointment when there was NO ONE in line and the girl, barely looking up, roughly asked me to wait "in line." I said "there's no one in line." And she said, "you have to stand there and wait." Someone else called me up after I stood two steps back "in line" and treated me with the same dismissive attitude. This is after we waited for hours to be seen by the doctor, being ushered from room to room by impatient staff. A week later, I accompanied my father when he went for a follow up because he was experiencing concerning symptoms post-surgery. The doctor, Dr. Gabay was immediately defensive. He checked him out but seemed annoyed about my questions, and when he was explaining the situation to my father (in Spanish), he stopped mid-sentence and told his assistant to finish explaining because "he had no time for this and had other patients." This place felt like a mill and, from our experience with the office staff and this particular doctor, they have a lack of respect and compassion for their patients' time and concerns (especially the elderly). read more

THREE TIMES in the past five or so years I have injured an eye. I've gotten almost immediate appointments (it was never an emergency, but two times uncomfortable). This is not a doctor's office, it's like a mini eye hospital, with multiple doctors, assistants and administrators. I always expect to wait for doctor visits *everywhere* and I always pack a Kindle (now Kindle app for the iPhone), but I think the waits are reasonable for me being shoved into an already-full schedule. The actual doctors gave me the utmost confidence in their abilities. Two of the visits required an actual procedure to remove foreign objects from my cornea, and the work was done competently and pain-free. Highly recommended! read more

It was an exhilarating experience knowing that I chose the perfect doctor for my surgeries. The surgeries were a success and I could not be happier. When I first arrived I was a little taken aback by the number of people. Each of the seven waiting rooms were full to capacity!!! I arrived at 9:45 am and though there was no way they were going to be able to keep my 10:00 appointment. But at 10:15 they were sidling me away into the back to screen and scan my eyes with sonograms, topographical mapping and eye exams. At about 11:00 Dr. W. Trattler came in and answered all my questions regarding my upcoming eye procedure. Their staff is courteous, professional and most of all efficient!!! ***Please note: this review is for the ophthalmology side of the practice, not optometry. The office has both practices and a myriad of doctors. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Spektor, Marci, Christine, Angela and the rest of the staff here. I came in for a consult for the Visian ICL in November (after seeing 6 other doctors) because I wasn't a candidate for traditional Lasik. I knew as soon as I walked in I made the right decision. The office looks extremely busy and the anticipated wait can seem daunting, but they truly run like a well-oiled machine. I have been a patient at my optometrist for at least 15 years, and am leery about trusting others with my vision. But a quick view of their staff's credentials before my visit ensured me they were more than qualified. I used to work in the medical field, and so did my mom and many other members of my family. I had already done a lot of research on the procedure, the potential risks and benefits; and was well prepared for my visit. But the procedure I got was expensive and not covered by insurance, so naturally I had TONS of additional questions after my exams before investing that kind of money. Dr. Spektor, Marci and Angela answered every single question be it in person, by phone or by email. They took stock in my concerns and reassured me every step of the way. They have me documents and testimonials to read because they knew my career depended on this procedure. They were thorough with their examinations and all of their measurements matched with those of the other institutions (the likes of Bacom Palmer & Millennium) further solidifying my trust. My pre-op and post op were very thorough. Again, as someone who worked in the medical field, everything they did was reassuring and in line with all of my previous training. Even though this is a very large practice with more than 30 ophthalmologists, the office moves like clockwork. The front desk staff is incredible - they are polite, efficient, professional, and able to process patients in a minimum of time. The office is attractive and very clean. Coffee is offered free of charge, and the waiting areas for each doctor is comfortable and quiet. The doctors are incredible! I have been a patient of Dr. Frank Spektor for over 2 years. Recently, I had a cataract develop to the point that it needed surgical removal. Dr. Spektor explained the procedure in detail, reviewed the options for different replacement implanted lenses (plain, multi-focal, toric, etc). I was concerned that I would be squeamish with eye surgery because it requires the patient to be awake. He assured me that I would have no problems in the surgery. He was right! I remember being taken into the procedure suite and looking at a bright light. He explained that the laser was taking various measurements of my cornea, retina, etc. That's the last thing that I remember until I woke up in recovery. I only had a mild discomfort (wouldn't even call it "pain") for a couple of hours after the surgery. I was sent home with detailed instructions on what drops to use and how often, how to take care of my eye for the first few days, and a 24 hour telephone number to call if I had ANY concerns. Post-op follow-up was extensive. My eye was carefully monitored to ensure no signs of infection or other complications. Within the first 48 hours, I was seeing 20/20 in that eye! I was totally amazed. As I had selected a multi-focal lens (I formerly had trifocal glasses), I was anxious about being able to use the computer or read close up. Before one week passed, I was able to read text in books comfortably and viewing the computer screen was absolutely no problem whatsoever. My overall experience with the Center and with Dr. Spektor was incredible. It is obvious that, when doctors work together and have a cohesive staff, that patient care can not only be efficient, but also with a high level of patient satisfaction. I highly and without reservation recommend this center and its doctors for anyone needing world-class eye care. read more
