Clothes contaminated in a bag smelling all around us
Tess Marie R.

I arrived at this emergency center with my daughter at 2:00 p.m. due to an eye emergency. The initial registration process and vital signs were relatively quick. The physician then ordered a CT scan. An IV was placed, and we were walked to the imaging area. During the procedure, my daughter vomited. She was given a hospital gown and returned to the treatment area, where she remained for more than four hours wearing soiled clothing and with the smell of vomit, without being offered any appropriate option for hygiene, clean clothing, or basic care. This was deeply uncomfortable and undignified. We repeatedly requested information about the test results. We spent an extended period in an exam room without any medical provider present, with a computer left open displaying sensitive information about other patients who were waiting. This represents a serious breach of privacy and confidentiality. Eventually, we were verbally told that the CT scan showed no findings, without a clear explanation or immediate follow-up plan. In total, we have been in the facility for over 10 hours. Later, a doctor entered the room and once again asked why we were there, highlighting a troubling lack of continuity and communication in her care. This experience was dehumanizing, marked by a lack of empathy and a failure to meet the basic standards of respect, hygiene, communication, and confidentiality that every patient deserves--especially in an emergency setting. P.S. As of 12:07 a.m., we are still waiting to be discharged, alone in the doctor's exam room, and have now been waiting for more than 40 additional minutes with no communication or update.

A toilet in a coed restroom

Great place. Plan to be there all day though. My only real complaint is if they are going to have coed bathrooms there should be an attendant checking the toilet seat regularly as everyone know it takes great skill for us woman to go while standing.

I have been going every year with adult son for 29 years. He was 1 year old during at the time of his first visit. I can't express my gratitude in words! Obviously true because all these years later im writing reveiws. Decades of training,a natural gift of higher intelligence that is required to be a surgeon at Bascom Palmer I am always very glad and feel lucky that my family member can receive this quality care . The best in the world are few and far between so please realize what is really taking place. I always enjoy conversing with such a helpful lovely staff. This is a day well spent and I always feel lucky to be there. Thankyou Dr. Gedde and Dr. Budenz also, the medical professionals that work along side best in the world. Someone has to be the best in the world and I believe these two are.

Waiting room

Came here with my mom multiple times for her eyes. She now sees eye specialist and they are all located here. There are a few positive things that I like off the bat. First they have parking. Plenty of parking I feel. Always a plus in any facility. The con is that you do have to pay for the parking and I want to say it's 10 dollars every time I come. When you walk in there is an information desk and they are very kind and helpful. When you go to any area most of the conversations we have had have all been positive and kind. My mom had surgery so we experienced that. The process for surgery is actually great and they even keep you updated with your phone so you don't even have to wait in the waiting room. I actually waited in the car while the surgery happened. They have a small cafe nearby that has some food and coffee which is always a plus. All in all good hospital and nice staff. Hopefully the care stays this way.

About a year ago due to my laser surgery which I had back in 1998 I had some cornea scar tissue…read moreover my eye lens No doctor would see me but it was here at Bascom Palmer with doctor Sonia Yoo.. where I got complete relief It was two different procedures two different eyes but here I am standing a year later telling you that it was the best thing that ever happened I'm able to drive again and I'm very much in gratitude toward their skills and their latest technology Thank you I highly recommend this place as I am so grateful

Bypass the main reception area and go directly to the LASER vision center to the left. At initial eval, you get a bunch of tests done at different stations. (Bring some work or reading to do while you wait.) Afterwards, you meet with the optometrist to discuss findings and see if you are a candidate. I was able to schedule the procedure quickly. I went w/ Dr. Sonia Yoo, who came highly recommended by my ophthalmologist friend who trained at same institution (Mass Eye and Ear). Had to wait some more day of surgery, but it was worth it. They give you 2 valiums (can take 1 or 2). You do another quick test. Then the procedure is done, which takes ~ 15 min. I felt no pain, and Dr. Yoo explained everything. You get a nice kit w/ a blanket, stuffed animal, eye shields, sunglasses, and eye drops - everything you need. They give you instructions on what to do. Best thing is to sleep afterwards, bc once the numbing drops wear off, some people experience burning/itching. I did not feel any of this because I fell asleep at home. The next day, I could see perfectly! I had no pain whatsoever. This is the best decision I have ever made, and the results are life-changing. Dr. Yoo is incredible. I had a lot of fear about the procedure beforehand and about possible complications. I am so happy about going forward with getting LASIK. Despite the waiting, I think this is the place to go.

My pair of glasses had broken, I was out of my contacts supply and I was due for my annual eye exam anyway. Upon arriving, you see the clear indications of mandatory face masks and you're automatically greeted by Marbelly. She is so polite! I was seen rather quickly, considering the amount of staff is being limited to one receptionist and one optometrist. For my first visit, I was seen by Linnett Molina and the second by Tharanie Amarawardana. Both very professional and thorough. If you make an appointment in advance, chances are you will be seen at that specific time which is always appreciated by patients. The neighborhood isn't the best but the office is impeccable.

Review based on initial visit…read more Receptionist was very attentive and detail oriented. However, Dr. Seltzer should take training on quality care. Not only did he make us wait (as he was leaning back on his chair) he left us waiting for about 30 minutes THEN rushed to get us out of the office. He didn't even give us an opportunity to ask questions. Overall, he was super unprofessional and impersonal. I should've given more credit to the Yelp reviews. If you have legitimate questions about quality eye care, save your time and look else where.

* This review is based on my consultation experiences, not the actual procedure. *…read more I had been thinking about lasik eye surgery for a few years but recently started really looking into it because wearing my contacts and glasses were becoming unbearable. I began my research last month and also asked some friends for recommendations. One of them suggested TLC and said he had a wonderful experience. I scheduled my consultation appointment via their website for the following Monday 3:30pm. I scheduled that appointment after another appointment at another company, since I figured do two appointments in one day. Come Monday, my eyes were dilated from the first appointment, which I did not predict was going to happen. I figured TLC would not be able to check my eyes due to the dilation but I went anyways so I could ask some questions and schedule another appointment. The entrance to office was a bit tough to find for me, it was a very narrow road that I missed the first time and almost the 2nd time I went. The building was small compared to the other building next door. I parked and went inside the office. The waiting and reception area was small as well. The receptionist was pretty nice and had me fill out some paperwork. I waited a while and almost watched an entire show of Ellen DeGeneres talking to Bieber and then Shonda Rhimes. Finally, I was greeted by the Patient Consultant, Luisa, who seemed to be in a hurry. I explained to her what had happened and that my eyes were dilated from another appointment and apologized. She said they would only be able to do a simple screening then and that I had to be out of my contacts for 2 weeks prior to the consultation, which I did not know. She told me that she felt bad that I waited a while and I offered to come back another time, I just wanted to ask some questions since I had the appointment anyways. I went ahead and started asking her some questions, and was ready to jot down notes, but she said she'd be giving me a folder with the info later. Luisa went ahead with some tests and then had me watch a video on the computer monitor, which repeated for 4-5 times. Then Dr. Stelzer showed up to talk to me about coming back again in 2 weeks for a more in-depth exam because my eyes were still dilated and I haven't been out of contacts long enough yet. He went over the difference between Lasik and PRK, talked highly about Dr. Aran, and just spoke so fast that I still hadn't process the information. He said so far, I am a candidate for lasik, but they won't know for sure until the next in-depth exam. Afterwards, I was back in Luisa's office. She spoke really fast as well, seemed to be bothered by something, gave me a folder with some info in it about the center and doctors, and showed me a small brochure of Wells Fargo finance option along with the cost of the procedure: $2395 p/eye $4790 -$400 $4,370 After finishing, she closed the folder and was ready to send me out the door. I said, "Wait, I still have some questions to ask." She said, "Oh, sorry," but didn't seem sorry in my opinion. I felt so rushed and disrespected. I get it, it was close to their closing time, but let me ask my questions and don't rush me. My appointment was at 3:30pm and it took them a while to get to me. I was on time, I was polite, I waited, and I deserved some quality time instead of being rushed. She then told me to go to the front desk to make the next appointment. I left with such a bad taste in my mouth about TLC, but I still gave them a benefit of the doubt since one of my friends had gotten his custom lasik done here, and Cassie from Yelp as well. The receptionist scheduled me for 7/5 Tuesday. Days later, I got a call saying their doctors will be on vacation, so the center will be closed, therefore, they have to reschedule my appointment. At that point, I was annoyed. I canceled that appointment. Even though my gut feeling told me not to go back, and I had gone to another place for consultation during the 2 weeks, I went back to TLC anyways to give them another chance before my final decision. I called back and got an appointment for 7/11 Mon at 1pm. I arrived early, waited to get called. A staff led me to the room next to Luisa's office and did some quick tests. She was nice. Then she showed the results to Dr. Stelzer, who came by really quick, asked if I rubbed my eyes. I said, maybe when I woke up, but other than that, no. He said something about one of my eyes being funky, so I would have to come back in another 2 weeks to get tested, and not to rub my eyes. I was scheduled to come back in 2 weeks. When I got home, I made my final call of where to get the lasik eye surgery done and I am happy with my decision. Today I called TLC twice as a courtesy to cancel my next appointment, but was put on hold for more than 10 minutes each time. Overall, I did not have a great experience, but maybe you will :-). Definitely do your research.
