Center Stage...Great prices...Great service...Great place!!! Earlier this year, I was searching Craigs List for used PA equipment. I had recently gotten back into playing drums and got my band back together after twenty years. Every night, I researched equipment on the internet but really had no idea what I truly needed. I didn't want to spend too much money either. I saw a nice Tascam mixer advertised at Center Stage Music. I emailed the store and got a response within one hour. The owner, Joe was very helpful. He took the time to listen to my specific needs and he offered several different cost-effective solutions. When I went to the store to look at the mixer, Joe greeted me, remembered my name from our email correspondence and treated me as if I had known him for years. Since I had never really dealt with sound equipment before, I had a million questions. Joe not only took the time to explain in detail how the mixer worked, he hooked it up with an amp, speakers and a mic and physically showed me. I was impressed at the level of service he displayed. You really don't see that in the big "supermarket" music stores like Guitar Center or Sam Ash. You could tell that Joe was passionate about being a musician and about helping other musicians. Joe emailed me a couple of days after my first jam session with my group to see if everything went ok with the mixer and if I had any questions...which I did. Again, he answered my questions and then some. I told him that I was in the market for a pair of wedge monitors and a digital reverb effect for the vocals. He didn't have anything in stock in my price range at the time but emailed me as soon as he did. Being that he had helped me out so much, I didn't think twice about taking the trip again from my house in NJ to his place in Long Island. Yes, it was a trek for me but it was well worth it. His level of commitment to his customers is unparalleled amongst his competitors. When I got the digital reverb home, I couldn't figure out how to get it to work. I called Joe up and he tried to talk me through it over the phone. Unsuccessful, he first apologized, then told me to bring it back and he would replace it. When I arrived, he couldn't be more apologetic that I had to take another trip out to his place. He replaced the unit with a better, more user-friendly and consequently more expensive one at no additional charge. He also threw in an adapter cable. The monitors are perfect for my needs and he gave me a great package deal for the pair. Joe has earned my business for life due to his honesty, integrity, product/musical knowledge and genuine disposition. He doesn't make me feel intimidated to ask questions like some other store owners do. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for quality used musical equipment at a fair price. Hey, Hey... My name is Danny and I'm the singer of NYC's The Crash Moderns...In the 4 plus year our bands been together we've had the pleaure of touring with and sharing the stage with some really great artists such as, Bon Jovi, The Goo Goo Dolls, Bret Michaels, and many more... We've traveled around the US, Canada, and most recently Japan and because of this have been in music stores almost everywhere you could possibly imagine. Here's a little story about my experience with Center Stage and it's wonderful owner Joe. About 2 months ago, our group was getting ready to hit the road for a pretty big tour. We were searching high and low looking for some last minute road cases to fit drums and misc stuff. I came across an ad for Joe's store and immediately picked up the phone to inquire. The first thing that struck me was how Joe immediately made me feel like I was calling someone I had known for a very long time. Incredibly personable and informative. Within a minute of speaking with him, I had already made up my mind to take the hour and a half (in no traffic) drive to Long Island from Jersey. When we arrived at the store, Joe couldn't have been nicer to us. What he described on the phone was exactly what he had in the store. 2 Large Calzone drum cases, worth probably about $800 each, that he promised to me for $200. Unbelievable right? Then as I was looking closer at one of the cases, I mentioned that it had dividers screwed inside that we had no use for, but that I would remove when we got back home. At that point Joe pulls out a screw gun and begins removing the dividers on the spot. Now THAT'S SERVICE!!! As we were leaving the store, I mentioned to Joe in passing that we were planning on rehearsing later that night back in Jersey but we were worried about all the traffic on the LIE getting back. Joe throws open a local paper and hands me his store phone and begins giving me the numbers for local studios to call. We found a place almost immediately and had a great rehearsal...And missed traffic to boot. The next day I get a phone call from Joe asking us how rehearsal was and did everything fit ok in the cases. I mean, this is way above and beyond customer service. This is a family owned business thru and thru. Center Stage Music is exactly what is missing today in the world of Music Stores. This is a true blue Mom and Pop Shop, where you never once get the assembly line feeling. Guitar Center and Sam Ash should both take note...It's a shame this store isn't around the block for me, or I would never step foot in a music store chain again.... Thanks so much Joe! This past October 9th my band, Grassy knoll performed at the American Airpower Museum for the American Patriot Heros' Fund benefit to support our wounded service members. A few weeks before, I walked into Center Stage Music to rent a pair monitors for this event. I began talking to Joe, the owner, asking his opinion on monitors and PA's. When Joe learned that the event was a fund raiser for our wounded troops, he refused to take a penny. Instead he told me he would set us up with an entire PA package. Joe, took it even further, he asked me to get him the info on the gig, and he went out of his way to get the word out. He even took out ads in two popular Long Island papers. The day of the event Joe showed up early with his best equipment plus lights and fog machine. He not only donated his equipment but stayed and worked the sound for us. This guy went way over and beyond to help us out for this great cause. His expertise and professional ability made us sound our best. His equipment was flawless as was his attitude. I walked into the store with no greeting, I went to the back to ask for Joe. I was told he was not here. I told the man behind the counter ok... im just going to look around at any used dj equipment. 5 minutes pass and he asks me again if i am looking for something in peticular. I told him no. I continue to look at the gear and pick up a microphone transmiter. The man asks me to put it down and leave because he was busy and did not have time to help me. This place is filled with used beat up equipment and items are way overpriced for what they are worth. This store will be out of business soon enough because the man running the store does not know how to treat a customer and he will never earn any business by asking potential customers to leave because they are waistng his time. My advise is to stay away from this store because you will have a better experience going to a professional dj equipment store where they will treat you like a customer and let you take the time to decide what you want to by. I recently bought a pair of EV SXA100's, as well as the 18 inch EV subs. Joe was very helpful, and worked with me on the pricing a bit. :::To Mike::: when did you purchase the jbl jrx 115's? I have been looking for those ever since the late Spring. I had been contacting Center Stage weekly by visiting and calls for updates however they never carried them in stock... How were you able to purchase these speakers when they never carried them? Joe had no problems letting me test the EV tops and bottoms while I was there. You either went to another store and are confusing venues or have some ulterior motive. Either way your story is fishy bro. It was fate that I met Joe. I perform pretty much every day. My keyboard was on the fritz. I searched Craig's List for a replacement. I answered Joe's ad, met him the very next morning, purchased two (2) keyboards and used one of them for three gigs that day. Even better...I was able to leave my original keyboard with Joe for repair. I am confident that he will do a great job taking care of my keyboard. Joe gave me a great deal on both keyboards. The staff were very polite, extremely knowledgeable and go the extra mile to serve you.
