The Guitar god's have answered my prayers! I finally found a Luthier who really knows his craft and knows it well. Who would ever thought a guitar museum existed in Long island NY!!?? In New Hyde park of all places!!?? I had my guitars "set up" in the past mostly by major musical retail chains. I was never really too happy with the work, but I didn't know anyone else I could really trust. I always asked around and a employee in a music store told me I should have the guitar techs at the "American Guitar Museum" set up my guitar. Wow! a competitor actually recommended these guys. When I showed up at the American Guitar Museum I was greeted by Chris, he runs the place and sets the guitars up. I can always tell when someone is passionate about what they do, Chris is no different, you can tell this guy is extremely passionate about guitars and his craft. I brought my beautiful "Martin" acoustic/electric guitar for a "Full Setup" The action was set up last time on this guitar but it was still way too high and the intonation was still off. When I picked it up 2 days later the guitar played like "BUTTER" The action was perfectly lowered, he cut the nut and saddle down. The neck was straightened and the fretboard polished. The guitar sounded AWESOME! Chris was able to adjust the intonation perfectly throughout the whole neck! CHRIS - you're my HERO! I wouldn't trust my guitars to anyone else from now on. Now get this! I have 90 days from the date of the work they performed for any further adjustments at no charge! These guys guarantee and stand by their work! How can you not love that!? Now I didn't have time to tour the museum but I can see they have some nice vintage guitars and gear. I look forward to return for a tour. One important thing to remember when you do visit, photography is not permitted. The museum has a small private parking lot in the rear and there is street Parking available. Any guitar enthusiast should pay this place a visit!

Chris is a master craftsman with guitar set up and repair. I bring all my high end guitars to him. Been using him for decades.

My family was very happy with the service we received here last week. Our original intent was to…read morefind a rental violin for Kid2, as well as see what they might have in stock for kid1. Upon entry we were greeted by Omar, the store manager. He immediately sized my daughter, and went to the stock room to find a few that were her size. For a full school year rental of a junior violin, the cost was $90 + $20 service fee (tuning cleaning) + $5 rosin, a total of $115 before tax for 9 months rental ( End Sept to End Oct). Additionally, there is a grace period of 10 days after the final June 20 contract date that you can return the instrument without penalty. That takes a little bit of stress off our backs to rush to the store for the return. Given that Kid2 had never played the violin, but now needed one for school, I appreciated Omar's knowledge and feedback on things we needed, and unnecessary, there was never any pressure or upsell here. Meanwhile, another staff member, Ricky, was patient with Hubs and Kid1 as they were perusing the guitar section. While the store had a nice variety of full size acoutic & electric guitars, they only had 1 type of junior-size guitar ($79 in 2 colors, red & blue). Both Omar & Ricky were very patient with all my questions, and even allowed me to see what they had in stock when I asked about accordians (which, FYI, they generally do not carry new, and they only have old accordians in stock to sell AS-IS). We were happy with the service we received at this store. Highly recommend them if you're in need of a rental instrument, especially for kids.

They could order it for me but it won't arrive to the day I need it. The associate explained to be the difference between the two. He suggested to me to ask my brother if what they have can be an acceptable replacement. He mentioned what's available in their store and the price for the piece. It was a direct to the point service. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The store has a good old fashioned appeal. I wish I could browse what's in their store and stay longer for today. I am seeing myself coming here again. Good location. Metered parking in front of the store.
