I spent a pleasant evening at the Penobscot Theatre Company as part of last month's Maine Book…read moreFestival. I was on a panel about suspense and the influence of Stephen King, and it was fun to have that event in the heart of Derry/Bangor. The theater was attractive, with a nice stage and a spacious seating area. There were some cool chandeliers that looked like crystal jellyfish. I gather that the theater is a town landmark and important cultural institution, putting on a full roster of shows when it isn't hosting one-off literary events. There was a little bar off to one side of the theater, apparently called The Stage Door. I hung out there with friends and new acquaintances before and after the panel. I got to try two cans of local beer, the Orono Tubular Hazy IPA and the Sacred Profane Dark Lager. Both were delicious beers that I never see at home. I had a lovely time at the Penobscot Theatre Company and am glad I got to visit on my first trip to Maine. I'd recommend it for all your Bangor theater needs, as well as any events about the great Stephen King.

Everything from the online tickets to the ease of getting your seat from the ushers. The Theatre itself is a beautiful old space that makes you feel a bit back in time. Located right in downtown Bangor, it's easy to get to, parking isn't a problem, and there are some great dinner options nearby before a show. Looking forward to our next visit.

I've been to this theater twice and it's been so so. Pricing is decent, the food options are OK,…read morestaff have been more kinda not cool than cool though you have a mix of both. This last experience was a couple days ago to watch the Nosferatu movie and the movie started. They didn't close any of the doors or even turn the lights off. The light wash on the screen was awful, as you can see in the video clip. I also was sitting in the back in a chair that was busted listening to the movies across the hall because all of the theater doors are open. I went out and shut the doors for the theaters right around our and then the doors for Narato so that I can actually listen to the Nosferatu movie not every other movie that had allowed crash bang audio track. Not a lot of options around and the theater is not bad, it's just I was left unimpressed. Also, the popcorn gives me a major stomach ache

The ladies at the counter where okay, not over the top but also not bad. The popcorn was good but super salty. Now, I had read some of the reviews before coming and I was afraid about having a bad experience like some said they did but for my surprise I had a regular time in a regular cinema! THE LIGHTS WHERE OFF!!! And THE DOORS WHERE CLOSED!!! Lucky me lol. The sit was a little hard but also the movie was somewhat long. And for last, the bathroom smell good and looked decent.
