Lo and behold I discover Mid-West Lighting, a company that's right in my own backyard and has been serving electrician, contractors and the general public since 1963. Initially, my first contact was a little shaky. I called in and the operator patches me to the sales area and the phone rings and rings until it goes to voicemail. I figure they were busy and I decide to call back in about 10 mins. The second attempt, I get patched through and the phone gets picked up but then it's almost as if it was hung up right away. What gives?! I call right back and tell the operator that I was disconnected the last time. Finally I get a sales rep on the other line, a gentleman by the name of Kevin. I tell Kevin about my existing set up with a metal halide unit and that I was looking to replace it with an LED equivalent. Immediately, Kevin has some good news for me, prices of wall pack LED's have been going down recently. At first glance it might be a sales hook to build things up for me so I won't protest when he tells me the price since, according to him, the prices have gone down, right? When he tells me the prices for the unit, they're way less expensive than what I would have spent at Home Depot for a unit with similar specs! Plus they come in a variety of color temperatures I can chose from. Besides just offering a lighting unit at a better price compared to Home Depot, Kevin was knowledgeable about the products and companies that made the light units and seemed earnest in helping me all the while presenting me with a wide array of options at various price points and illumination intensities. On the other hand, at Home Depot I had to walk the aisles to find a sales person and the person I got a hold of didn't know about lighting they had to find someone else who finally told me flat out that the light unit on display I was interested in was out of stock at all Home Depots and doesn't know if it'll be in stock anytime soon. Honestly, I suspect it was up high on the shelf and they didn't want to get a lift to go and fetch it. After dealing with the big box store and then finding this specialty supplier with way better customer service and pricing, I'm going to come to Mid West Lighting from now on for any lighting needs. Highly recommended!

I needed to find a replacement bulb for a 12 volt recessed, ceiling accent light. The bulb I had…read morepreviously bought was a fraction of an inch too tall to allow connection of the power wire inside the rotating fixture. The young man who assisted me (initials JVR) patiently took three bulbs out of packages so I could compare. Though none were short enough he was helpful in suggesting two other stores I could check for bulbs. I bought a $3.79 wire connector. When I told him how much I appreciated his help with such a small sale he said, "No problem, it's not a competition." Very refreshing in today's business world. I will definitely give this store my future business. I eventually solved the problem by reassembling the fixture around the connected bulb.

A lot of places like this may not be geared toward people that may not know exactly what they need to ask for but here a lot of it is on the shelf.
