A solid five stars for the quality and courtesy of this spot. I purchased two vintage light fixtures on ebay and both of them needed to be required. The sconces also needed some welding done to be able to hang them on my wall. Carlos did a beautiful job with the rewiring and repair and was even able to tell me about where the beautiful sconces came from in Italy and the history of the factory where they were made. I took the sconces home and then called with questions about how to install them and Carlos actually stopped by my home for free to show me what to do (he said he was in the neighborhood). I will definitely be bringing all of my vintage light fixtures here for repairs. Since I have a fetish for vintage lighting fixtures I'll probably be there a lot. Recommend! read more

HOLLYWOOD LIGHTING (also found as "George's Lighting" is a throwback to Old Hollywood. I took a vintage lamp there decades ago when George was running the shop). Seeing all their chandeliers is fun. They rent the retro stuff to Hollywood shoots, I believe. I just learned they also take special lamps for consignment sale....all good to know! I've worked with Carlos twice now; he's great. But Payman and Candace are also nice and great. They are there to help. They directed me to a back of shop park space and came out to get my large mid-century modern lamp, but they also offer a pick-up service. How easy is that? Don't toss that old lamp that's flickering, if you like it. It's an easy fix for these guys. And very reasonably priced work. I am grateful for their help. read more

I had an old torchiere floor lamp with a Fluorescent bulb that no longer worked. They expertly troubleshot throughout the entire process and offered multiple options. They switched everything out to allow for halogen and LED bulbs and for a very reasonable price. Now, I basically have a new floor lamp! I wanted to have my antique lamps restored to their original beauty. This place could do electrical but they couldn't even provide new lampshades. I wish someone could have told me before I drove all the way down there and searched for parking. Then I had to leave them with a nice man who couldn't tell me anything, so I had to make a second trip to pick them up. I did have them replace the light sockets, but I had told them when I called that I wanted my lamps to look nice and work well. When I picked them up they still looked the same as when I took them in. Very disappointing. read more

I just had a great experience with George's Lighting Plus. They were going to install a very unusual, ceiling mounted chandelier for me but ultimately they decided they could not do as it would be impossible to install without damaging it. I had purchased this antique chandelier on Ebay. After taking the time to assess the viability of mounting this chandelier, Payman wrote me a letter that I was able to submit to Ebay that stated the problems. This letter will assist me in my return of the item and refund of my payment. George's Lighting Plus patiently and generously took the time to examine and test the chandelier, wisely advised me of the insurmountable issues, then helped me to secure a return and refund. Needed the socket replaced on an old lamp. They did a great job at a reasonable price and very quickly. Glad I found them.

You decide if you want to do business with them. I took my expensive task lamp into George's Lighting Plus to have the switch repaired. I got a call saying they could not fix it. When I went in to pick up the lamp some employee had broken it. I pointed this out to the man at the counter and he just shrugged his shoulders pretending not to understand. I demanded to talk to the absent owner, and he got the original employee I had dropped the lamp off with on the phone and that man denied everything, accused me of breaking it and said it was broken beforehand. The man and the employee at the counter lied to my face and accepted no responsibility for breaking an expensive lamp. The man at George's Lighting Plus is now threatening me via email for posting a negative Yelp review. He is claiming I am trying "...to shake down local business this way." This because I would not accept having my lamp broken. He is threatening to sue me and retaliate for posting a negative review. The business did follow up on my complaint--after much work to find out who actually owned it and several phone calls and emails. However, the man claimed that the lamp was broken before I brought it in and sent a photo--which simply echoed the employee's justification. The lamp was broken in their shop not before it was brought in. This is not a money issue; it is an honesty issue. read more

I have an antique drafting lamp--a big, articulated, steel, they-don't-make-'em-like-this-anymore desk lamp. The 1st gen fluorescent ballast was long dead. I called and emailed numerous lighting shops and electricians--all of whom advertised themselves as doing restorations-- but no one could handle it. Finally, I found Carlos, at George's Lighting Plus. He is a true artisan, who is not afraid of a challenge. He improvised and customized clever, elegant solutions to the problem of parts no longer made. He restored my lamp to period glory, by converting it to incandescent, adapting it to L5 Edison bulbs.
