For the most part they are ok but when it comes to their courtesy pay which I am all for, you have to be careful because the way they have it set up you will get charged the fee even though you have a deposit set to go in at the same time the payment is coming out. This is the first time in a long time that I tried to get a loan for my car. I was in for a refinance and the loan officer treated me like I was the only customer they had. He gave me more than what I was expecting to get. I got an approved car loan at a 6% interest rate and I also got a pre-approval on their best credit card with a $7,700 credit limit and another pre-approval for a LoanLiner of another $7,700.00. I walked away with an added credit utilization of $15,000 plus my car loan. I don't know why I never went to them sooner. I will most definitely be a customer of theirs for life. I had 3 high fraud charges on Saturday June 29th at 8am. I went directly to Centra and reported it. They said they couldn't do anything because the charges was still pending. They destroyed my card and issued me a new one. Monday morning the charges went through. So I went back to Centra, and the lady said they would do a dispute. After 40 minutes there, they said I should be ok. Today, July 3rd, I went back and they had no record of my dispute. So we did it again. And still nothing has been done to fix the issue. I asked for a manager or regional manager number, and they refused to let me speak to anyone or give me a number of someone to call or talk to. read more

Centra Credit Union - Love free coffee - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Columbus, Indiana

I've had an account with Centra since 1990. We moved our accounts to Crane Credit Union (who are excellent!) about 5 years ago due to Centra treating me like a 16 year old kid. I have reasonable financial capabilities and was treated like a child at Centra. When moving to Crane Credit Union I was asked what I needed and it happened automatically, they are excellent. Mike Jackson at Crane in Franklin, IN is the best. I left one account open at Centra just to be safe. I went into Centra today to close out a15 year old, not used home equity line. After spending 20 minutes following their "close out process" they charged me a $25 closing processing fee. i threw them $40 and told them to keep the change as it's worth never having to deal with them again! You can get better deals at local banks than this "credit union". Do yourself a favor and use Crane Credit Union or Bar-Con Credit Union for your banking needs. I gave them one star because 0 stars wasn't an option. read more

I do not like to give negative reviews, however I feel the merger from Northpark Credit Union to Centra was NOT well thought out or planned, especially with the needs of the customer in mind. Let me explain: The first minor issue was when I received my first statement from Centra, and I noticed I was charged $2 for a "paper statement" I had been receiving paper statements from Northpark for 2 and a half years at no charge. I made a negative Yelp review, and the charge was reversed, and now my statements are on line. No harm, no foul. Second issue was potentially major. I did the required paperwork to change my Autopay from Northpark to Centra. A somewhat clumsy process, but I completed it. Well, not only did Centra deduct the $504.93 from my checking account but so did the (now defunct) Northpark. Imagine if I didn't have the funds in my account to cover both payments! I would have been overdrawn. I contacted Cenra ( waiting in "queue" 46 minutes to talk to a human being), only to find out they could NOT transfer the overpayment back into my checking account. I had to take an hour off Work ($25.84 hourly wage loss), drive to the nearest Branch, withdraw the money, drive to my bank and deposit said funds, just to cover my rent. And now the saga continues with the last issue. I stay on top of my credit. I check my credit report the other day, and is shows THE BALANCE OF MY CAR LOAN IS DOUBLE THE AMOUNT!! I can only assume one amount is from Northpark, and the other is from Centra. From my perspective, Centra has charged me fees for services that were free from Northpark. Almost overdrew my checking account by taking out two car payments instead of one, destroying my credit worthiness by FALSELY showing TWICE the amount of my balance of my car loan, all while making me wait 46 minutes to talk to a human being to TRY to clear this mess up. So yeah, this has been a disaster from the start, and, in my opinion Centra is just dealing with the issues as they arise, other than planning and making a smooth transition for the Northpark members. If I could give 0 that's what it would be. 5 year NorthPark member, now we can't even deposit a check. Took us 2 mos to get cards and checks. Just found out our member number changed yesterday. That was not sent to us. The customer contact center is RUDE as all get out and can't see half of what is going on with your account. We have loans and accounts. We will be closing the accounts and seeing about re-financing the loans. AVOID them. Miss being able to deal with our local people in Lebanon. After decades and 3 Generations we are done Centra's problems. Their online banking software updates randomly change withdrawal accounts creating chaos. We have multiple accounts and after software updates the bill paying accounts change within the system. This is the second time it has happened, the 1st time I thought I had somehow made a mistake on which account to withdraw But by the time we track down the problem the damage is done. Last Fall's update impacted our families credit score as a travel charge card payment ended up more than 30 days late. As well as all other balances I paid off. I was making multiple out reaches to account and even Clearing Bank where all payments are routed from banks. after getting late notices but our online banking accounts had more than enough funds and showed withdrawals as completed, it was a major headache. Cummins new hires stay away from this Credit Union it isn't the same Credit Union that our parents used when working for Cummins, Don't be fooled by its past reputation, that Centra Credit Union is lost. Called on a Saturday because I work for a living Mon-fri, to make a $2500 principle payment on my loan. The "make a payment option" informed me, after I waited on hold for 30 min that they cannot collect money on Saturdays... really? So I went online to make the payment via mobile app and it said, because nothing is due, I couldn't apply any money to the loan. This is ludicrous, they make it too hard to pay anything off early, on purpose to charge more interest. I'm moving my loan. read more

I have a new personal and business account here and would have learned more reading reviews than from the person setting up my account. I even asked questions and was given a very wrong answer to 90% of the questions. Until my 30 days even though I have money to cover the amount of the check deposited in my account I have to wait for the check to clear to have it in my account. I was never told this! This was today's answer. I was never told that they were so inconsistent. Because a week ago they told me that they could only release half the amount of the check I deposited for up to 7 business days. This is my main issue. They are not consistent with what they tell you or what they do. It depends on what mood the manager or who ever gives those okays to the tellers is in what answer you get. I have never regretted switching banks so much in my entire life! My account here will probably closed soon. I am doing my research and figuring out a bank that has employees trained to set up an account and give you the correct information. I will defiantly be reading reviews as well. read more

Centra Credit Union's is the biggest joke in Columbus and the surrounding area. They make buying a house near impossible and the call center flat out embarrasses a member who is trying to seek help. I have had to continue to tell the mortgage department the same thing over and over again and they still don't get it right. Even a month after closing, I am still having problems with my mortgage. I am a 20 year member with a checking and savings account, credit card, a car loan and now a mortgage there and their customer service is purely disrespectful and pitiful for a "hometown" company. Their auto pay doesnt seem to be working which makes me think they are going to blame me for late payment to charge me late fee. read more
