Kind, Ethical, Responsible Team I have had two dogs prior to…read morethis one and have taken them to several other reputable training organizations. This is the only one that bothered to find out about my specific goals for my dog and the only one that bothered to get to know my dog. I think everyone in the place came out to meet her and watch her at her first training. I had the usual reservations about using an e-collar on my dog (is it inhumane? Is it punishment? Would her personality change?) Andrew carefully demonstrated the collar to me and when we used it on my dog she did not indicate that she was in any distress. She learned quickly and seemed very proud of her accomplishments. At home, even without the collar she continues to do the things she learned in her only lesson. Two days after her first training, she was diagnosed with Heartworm. Because she must be kept still throughout the long treatment she cannot attend training, go to dog parks, doggy day care or even run. Sit Means Sit refunded my money, did not charge me for the lesson, offered advice on how to keep her still, and offered to continue to help when I needed it. I am forever grateful. When my dog is better (cross your fingers) I plan to bring her back. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike and his team for any dog issue whether it is a serious problem dog or a dog like mine who is a little timid, wants to kiss every child she sees and just needs a few skills to reinforce safe behaviors.

After 3 sessions at SMS, June is able to walk with us with no problem. I genuinely wouldn't believe it if you told me she would improve this much a month ago. I can't recommend SMS and Brenna specifically enough!

We requested to delay class 2, our pup was not ready and thought it best for him and the rest of class. Requested to reschedule for a later class and was told it would be at full price. No credit for any of the money to apply to future classes. Expensive and disappointing. They ask for flexibility to meet their needs, but not flexible in return. Spoke with them about this. No change. Please make sure you can live with this when considering your needs. If your pup is ill, behind, or life interupts, it will be at your expense, literally.

Dog's Best Friend Training is a life saver! It was about 10 or 11 years ago that I brought one of…read moremy Jack Russell Terriers, Karrera, to Dog's Best Friend Training. Specifically, to the Reliable Recall Class. This is because, Karrera, would completely blow you off when you called her to come. I can not tell you how many times she ran across the farmer's field whether it was corn or soybeans. This was after excavating her way out of the fenced in yard. I finally said to my other half. We need HELP! I contacted Dog's Best Friend and worked with Chelse in the Reliable Recall Class 1. Karrera did well with this class however, we felt that we should enroll her in the class, again, so we did. She was successful after the second time around and then, the Reliable Recall Class 2 came along. So, we enrolled her in that class. She did well. Fast forward several years later. I took Karrera hunting in our backyard in the month of August so, the corn was tall. She got to the point in hunting that she got frustrated and took off into the corn field. I thought to myself, I am never going to see her again! And at that moment I remembered to whistle 3 times. Well, guess who showed up at the front door? YES! KARRERA! Now fast forward, again, Karrera is going to be 13 years old on November 1, 2025. I took her hunting in Indiana. I had on me a treat pouch with cooked Lamb (this is something that our dogs only get when we are at shows or hunting). I called her, she came, I treated! She got to her first sett (hole in the ground) and I took her off her leash. When I wanted her to come to me, I would whistle 3 times, she came, I treated. She was off leash running smelling and being a dog. Yes, I was still nervous about her being off leash but, this Reliable Recall Class is worth it's weight in Gold! If there is any class that I would recommend to any one it will be this one! Thank you, Dog's Best Friend and Chelse for helping me and Karrera. With that said, I am also a breeder of Jack Russell Terriers and I start doing a whistle recall as soon as when the puppies are 3-4 weeks old. This way they go home with a basic recall at 10 weeks. People are really impressed when they come pick up their puppy and they are already coming to them on a basic whistle.

Sarah Kalnajs of Blue Dog Training has unique qualifications that sets her apart from other…read moretrainers and behaviorists in Madison. She has transformed the way I communicate and interact with my dogs, bringing some much-needed serenity into my home. I adopted a young White Shepherd that started to exhibit fear aggression. After countless books and DVDs, I wasn't getting very far. Pinch collars, shock collars (never again!), positive reinforcement, negative punishment, you name it. I was stressed, resented my dog, couldn't rehome him, and feared he'd end up euthanized. Sarah invited me, my roommate, and both my dogs to her location for an assessment. Despite my dog's fear aggression, I felt safe and confident while there. She was even willing to introduce her dogs to mine in a safe manner, which really helped illustrate his issues. I was given an impressively comprehensive rehabilitation plan, addressing the problem from all angles: training programs, medication recommendations, potential medical issues, behavior modification tools, and new ways to interact with my dogs that stimulate their minds. One of the most useful parts of the rehabilitation plan was MY education. I thought I understood dog body language pretty well, but Sarah's "Language of Dogs" DVD corrected many misconceptions I had. With a newfound ability to interpret my dogs' body language, I quickly realized the things I thought they loved actually gave them significant anxiety. The Blue Dog hands-free leash is worth every penny. Nothing raised my stress more than having my dog jerk my arms around when his arousal was increasing. The hands-free system allows me to remain safe and calm when taking my dogs outside, preventing me from sending "bad vibes" through the leash. Sarah has remained committed to my dog's rehabilitation and has shown genuine concern for him. She is happy to answer questions as they come up and will periodically ask how everything is going. Try getting that level of attention at a typical dog training facility! I have been seeing more and more trainers popping up telling people to slap shock collars on their dogs and assert their dominance. Run far away from these people! Sarah is, hands-down, the most qualified person to help you modify your dog's undesirable behavior. She has dedicated her life to understanding animal behavior, and is the only Certified Dog Behavior Consultant in the Madison area. There really is no other choice, in my book.

Still no response. I understand it's the holiday season, but customer service 101 is to respond to email and phone calls. I definitely feel like I dodged a bullet using someone who doesn't even have the courtesy to reply to TWO emails.
