I recently adopted a smol baby who needs some socializing, so it's nice to have a store I can take him to where he can see people, and sometimes other dogs, and occasionally get pet by strangers and learn that it's going to be okay. Their prices aren't anything special, but the discount thing is nice. Since I typically buy the same kind of foods for my pups, it's helpful. Employees are nice. You are not saving a puppy by purchasing it from a pet store, you are creating demand for puppy mills to keep producing more puppies. Walk right past those seemingly cute puppies at the pet store and find a reputable breeder or shelter, rescue. Don't buy online, you must go and visit these places to buy your puppy, they aren't Amazon stock, this isn't something you order online.
