One month ago I had a freak accident and fell. I ended up with two cuts on my forehead...one being quite significant. My friends called 911 and Central EMS showed up. They transported me to North Fulton Hospital (11 miles) because it was the closest trauma hospital. I can't express how wonderful my EMTs were. I was scared beyond words and had to be transported without a family member or friend due to my injury. They were kind, reassuring and compassionate. After they got me stabilized; the sweet EMT held my hand for the duration of our drive. My husband followed the ambulance and they were able to get him back to see me before I even had a room assigned. They were my angels during an amazingly scary time. My wife fell and I called 911 for help. Central EMS came. She was a little bit off but somewhat aware and initially did not want to go to the hospital. The EMT (whose job is to assess the possible pb caused by the accident) considered that, since she did not want, he would not bring her. I have to really insist to have them bring he to the hospital. Turns out she had an internal bleeding in her brain and could have been fatale. SHAME ON YOU CENTRAL FOR LAKING OF JUDGEMENT. read more

My bill was actually higher than the hospital bill for this non emergency transport. They charge 42 per mile and how can a base charge be 3850 for non emergency transport. This company's practices need to be reviewed. read more

UNBELIEVABLE charges for their emergency transportation. NO care was provided to my son during his transport to another hospital in Smyrna, GA. When an individual is placed under a 1013 in GA, they nor their family have ANY SAY SO, regarding emergency transportation and/or hospital. Our experience with Central Emergency Medical Services was extremely disappointing and financially devastating. They were called to transport my family member--a minor--from the emergency room to a treatment center. At no point did anyone inform us that Central EMS does not negotiate with insurance companies. In the middle of an emergency, my only concern was ensuring my family member received timely care, not questioning network contracts or billing procedures. Only after the fact did I learn that this two-mile transport resulted in a bill for $4065.10--an outrageous amount for such a short distance. When I contacted them and the insurance company, Central EMS refused to negotiate or even discuss reducing the balance. This practice feels predatory, especially toward families in crisis who have no reasonable opportunity to compare options or consent to such exorbitant out-of-network charges. Emergency transport should not result in surprise, four-figure-equivalent billing. Families deserve transparency and fairness, particularly in moments of medical distress. I strongly urge others to verify insurance arrangements before using Central EMS--if that's even possible in an emergency--and I hope regulators address this kind of unethical billing practice. read more

Office staff ineffective and inefficient. I spoke to a young girl today "Amanda M" (she would not give me her name, nor her supervisor's name. There was something that this company put on my credit report that was inaccurate. When I tried to find out why, Amanda M kept putting me on the "silent mode", while she asked her supervisor question. Her supervisor (whoever that was would not take my call even though she was continuing to feed "Amanda M" useless answers. When I asked for the supervisor's supervisor, Amanda M said he was someone name "Richard", and that he was a "high level CEO, that I could not talk too, because he was probably in a meeting". She would not tell me his last name either. One question... Why in the world would Forsyth County choose Central EMS??? The reviews everywhere show the highest rating at 1.7??? There must be big money passing hands somewhere for them to be still serving Forsyth County. read more

This company is as bad as--if not worse than--AMR. Is there no competency in the world of ambulance billing? This company sent me a bill over $2k higher than what my EOB said I should be charged. I called the number on the bill several times and the phone kept ringing. I verified that this was the same number on their website. So I finally sent them a letter and mailed it to them IN THE PRE-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE THEY SENT, and it came back as undeliverable?? I had to go online to find a legitimate phone number for them that was on a 3rd party website. After several long back and forth calls with them since they kept insisting they didn't make a mistake (although they did), I had to have my insurance company call them directly to get them to fix the billing error they made. After the insurance company paid their part, they harassed me with phones calls, and in these phone calls I kept telling them to send me a revised bill so that I could have paper documentation and then I would gladly pay it. When they finally sent it, I got THREE different mailings with the same billing date, and 2 OF THE 3 BILLS HAD THE WRONG AMOUNT (the amount before insurance payment). Even after I paid the balance, they STILL blew up my phone with calls. When I finally answered, they claimed they didn't know that I paid even though I paid online and have an e-mailed receipt??? This was a ridiculous, needless nightmare that got dragged over 7 months. My son had a life-threatening seizure, so we didn't have a say in who we used. This whole process just dug the dagger deeper, and I will do what I can to avoid them if G*d forbid we need another ambulance. read more

Worst ride ever! My husband was at Northside and was very critical and needed transported to Emory. We waited for 2 days for the ambulance to take us to Emory. When getting in the ambulance it smelled like a wet nasty dog, dirt everywhere, cluttered, very very dirty. Then the ride was so bumpy and uncomfortable, My husband said he felt as though he was going to fall out of the gurney. read more

NASTY VILE EXCUSES OF HUMAN BEINGS!! I had to have emergency surgery, stayed in Northside for over a week, was released, two days later, in extreme pain, go back to Northside ER. The Nurse said the ER was full so I went across the street to St. J. Once my surgeon was informed of my condition he wanted me admitted but wasn't part of St. J so Central EMS transported me ACROSS THE STREET. After my Ins was charged, I still owed $400 so I made payments. HERE'S THEIR TRICK; they accept the first payment but "never received the other two" which disguises their not being of professional healthcare personnel and turned me into collections. True my checks weren't cashed but I didn't stop to think about what their accounting process was. After two checks not being cashed, receiving a letter from a collection agency, Central EMS Accounting Dept REFUSED to even speak to me like I was some kind low life to them. I know have to remember what despicable trash they are for the next sever years, it being on my credit now. Don't be so quick to praise healthcare workers!!! One, they get paid. Two, a lot of them have God complexes such as Central EMS. read more

I would give zero stars if possible, based on their billing and customer relations. First off-if you are a care provider-stop using their services-they bill all insurance out of network to make more money. My 11 day old had to be transported from CHOA satellite to Eggleston in order to be continuously monitored for oxygen. The transporters showed up looking for an 11 month old and didn't have electrodes or cords for my baby. I recieved a bill for $500 after my insurance paid them $1200. When I tried to contact billing/claims/anyone I found that all numbers lead to one voicemail-Janice-who never answers and takes her time returning messages. 4 messages later she said that there was no way they would file a waiver in my situation. I was told that Central EMS could contact Humana, by Humana, but they refused. The next week I receive a bill stating we had15 days from the date of the letter to pay the bill, or it would go to collection. The letter was dated 12 days before I recieved it. Even after discussing my appeal options with Humana AND finding out that Central EMS billed it as a non-urgent transport-I felt I had to pay the bill for fear of them setting a claim on my credit-whether it was going to appeal or not. Enjoy the extra $500 Central EMS! Use it to hire new employees or buy some class! read more

While I did have some troubles with their billing department, their service transported my father from his assisted living facility to Northside Hospital after he had a heart attack. I rode with them, and the Paramedics payed much attention to my requests and got there quickly, and likely saved his life. I will always be thankful!!! read more

First let me just say this is the worst company I have ever dealt with. My son who is disabled was a patient at Northside Hospital. He had been there for at least 2 weeks. His leg is in a cast, but he has other health issues. Northside called and said he was being transferred to Dunwoody Rehab. I assumed that the hospital was going to transport him. They never informed me that they were using central ems. They came to my sons room and said sign this. My son was on a lot of medication. They never told him what the charge was. The charge turned out to be $2800.00. Did I mention the place was less than 2 blocks from the hospital. They billed his insurance company $2,000 and he is responsible for $800. They are a big ripoff taking advantage of the disabled. I am going to voice my complaint to every social media site. Stay away from this piece of garbage. If I could give them a 0 rating I would, but I do give them an F rating. read more

I did not use this service, but I just passed one of the emergency vehicles on the road, and the driver was texting while driving. If I'm ever in an ambulance, I DO NOT want a driver who texts while driving! Safety should be first! And..it's illegal...so.. read more

Total trash of unprofessional big corporation, not the workers but the company, if I can give them no stars I would..I have to say that, they billed my insurance company for a 37 mile drive from the hospital to an institute and charged $3412, when my insurance got the bill, they paid a portion as they said it was being reviewed and not to pay anything more over my co-pay, after a couple of months have not heard anything from my insurance or the company, today they send an collection bill, so to call the story short, I called my insurance company to find out what happened, they investigated and came back to say they re-negotiated the bill and paid a bit more so my bill was now $1400 that I would owe, but the trick is that central ems, got paid from my insurance on 1-11-19, and they the final bill to collections on 1-15-19 never sent me a bill, the rep. at my insurance company helped me out by calling the collection company, they told her that is what they do, as they are so big, some of the office just send the final bill to a collection agency so you can't negotiate with them. Unethical practices. The collection agency was helpful, we settled for half and they let me make to payments, no reporting to credit bureaus, Be aware! read more
