I had an ultrasound guided biopsy of my breast at the Breast Center at Baptist Health on October…read more17, 2016. The result was not concordant and a stereotactic core biopsy was recommended. I had questions, but the radiologist Dr. Shuffett would not call me. I gave up and decided to get a second opinion at St. Joseph East. I had another ultrasound guided biopsy at that facility on 11-2916. Before I left that day I had the report that the cyst in my breast was benign. By the way Baptist Health charged me over 11,000.00 for the biopsy performed in October ($8788.20 of that was for operating room services). I was in an exam room - no operating room involved. I am waiting for a detailed itemized bill to see exactly what I am being charged for. By the way, same services at St. Joseph East was less than $1500.00. If I could rate this facility lower than one star I certainly would. Not a place I will ever go again!

The doctor immediately walks in and asks me what I am doing there because I had enough medicine at home to self medicate. I haven't been back since. It was rude and embarrassing. I wasn't asking for pain meds, I just wanted to make sure I didn't have a blood clot. I hate being judged by what I take at home. They need to put their prejudices aside before assuming anything. That kind of mindset can cause someone to lose their life. ​
