Smiling, happy faces, great attitudes and superior service is what I get whenever I go in, even when its 5 minutes to close, I never feel pressured or rushed. The day/afternoon staff . . . all the super friendly women, Becky, Bailey, Gwen, Daisy are quick to jump in and help, bag, say hello, and check in. What a great market in the middle of the lovely lake town of Detroit Lakes. This market is open 24 hours and it has everything imaginable! A coffee shop, floral market, meat and seafood market, fresh prepared foods and gourmet desserts, an organic and all natural section and a deli that would knock your socks off! It's the best market that we have shopped at since we left Florida! We have only cooked one breakfast in the 22 days we've been away! (That doesn't include the homemade meals we had at David's brothers house for almost two weeks lol!) The weather is beautiful here in the low 70's and we're going to grill tonight and make a fire! Finally get to really camp out! We love finding wonderful community businesses and supporting them! read more

"Price Shocker!" Price Shocker! Today at Central Market canned green beans for 49 cents. Ok I made that up but the radio ads announce a price shocker everyday. I think this is the only grocery store in Detroit Lakes besides Wal-Mart. I came here with my mom and found 88 cent spaghetti sauce and a couple of other things. She shopped for at least an hour. Thankfully I sat at a high top table by deli and waited. What struck me as odd is there were "Kirkland" AkA Costco branded products. I am a Costco member and instantly recognized it. They bag your groceries and my mom paid by check. read more

First time customer. Visiting from out of state and was on the hunt for some Minnesota wild rice. Was very glad to find a food selection and very reasonably priced. ...$4.95 for one pound. Store is well organized and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. Will be back to stock up on wild rice when the need arises. read more

Every Friday I trying to come in Central Market and buy always some products. Always buying meat good price. Sale all the time. They are overpriced. For example, a rotisserie chicken is $7.98, and it's $4.98 at Walmart. Sale prices weren't programmed in to the computer so three different times, original prices appeared, and I needed a cashier to adjust. I made the mistake of self-checking. What a cluster!! In addition to the prices not being reflected, every single person checking out had issues and there was one staff person flitting about to all of us. It took forever and the computer kept giving me error messages, as I'm sure others were experiencing, too. On a positive note, their produce and meat departments are ok. read more

I grew up in this area. Which means, I come back to visit. This is truly the only civilized (by which I mean actual good selection of actual good food) in the area. A nice organic section, great alternative and health food section, even a great seafood counter. It's the only place I shop when I'm in town. Thanks for being there. This is a great 24 hour grocery store in Detroit Lakes. Very wide selection and always well stocked, even through the summer months. One hint: the paper bags don't have handles, so if you plan on walking choose plastic! read more

I live in Detroit Lakes 6 months a year, and in Fort Worth, TX the rest of the year. Central Market has a selection of grocery items better than most big stores in the big city. Their produce and meat is always fresh, and the bulk items aisle is very convenient when you need just a couple tablespoons of a spice, or just a cup of a specialty flour. I miss the olive bar though! read more

What can you say? Well I say no competition helps maintain their over priced items. The workers are top notch, friendly and helpful. With that being said, I went in for a few items that were on sale, bacon, hotdogs and some brats. After I checked the sirloin roast ($8.99#) and reg. skin on chicken thighs ($2.89#), The brats were listed @ 2/$6.00. Since it was only me I picked up 1 package they charged me $4.69.. The beef wieners were $5.89... I left and went to Walmart where I picked up the same, yet unfrozen chicken thighs for $1.28#. I have no problem with someone making profit but to "rip" people off, just turns me off. I'll never go back. read more

The bakery did an amazing job of 100th birthday cake. Not only was the cake awesome but they were able to have me pick it up in less than 24 hours. We had ordered a cake somewhere else and that one was terrible. So the bakery at Central Market saved the party in a way! My family is very thankful! read more

Vonnie in the Central Market bakery did an excellent job with my wedding cake. It was delicious, beautiful and delivered on time. I turned to her after my original baker, Piece of Cake Bakery in Fargo, bailed on me most unprofessionally. From Central Market, I ordered carrot cake with cream cheese filling, chocolate cake with raspberry filling, and white cake with lemon curd filling. I got many compliments on it! read more

We usually visit Detroit Lakes once a year and stop at Central Market to pick up some groceries. The selection of fresh produce, deli items, ready to eat items is impressive. It appears to be a good place to put an easy, tasty and nutritious meal together at a far more reasonable price than eating at a local restaurant. What did not impress me was that on my last visit staff who bag the groceries and load them in the cart did not put 5 items in my cart (valued at nearly $20) and I did not realize this until returning home to Canada. Emailing Central Market via their web site did not result in any response which was disappointing. Next time I go to Detroit Lakes I will likely try shopping at Walmart. read more
