AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS If you move to or are in an area…read morewhere you have competing waste haulers, simply avoid Republic. We had them in Sherman (Springfield area), Illinois and my wife and I agree they were probably the worst service we EVER had, of any company. Besides charging exorbitant prices, they raise prices substantially without any prior notice. The drivers were at times wreckless. It was not uncommon for them to tip the bins into the truck and slam them back on the ground. We watched once when they slammed the bin down so hard, and so rapidly that it fell over and nearly went under the truck. The tire did make contact, but fortunately didn't damage the bin -I'm positive they would have charged me to replace it had it been damaged by their careless driver. The worst though is that Republic engages in what seem like Shady business practices at best, and at worst predatory or even illegal practices. When we called to inform them we would be moving, and gave a date to cancel, they stated that they could not pick up the bins after the final pickup. They informed us that, due to their own anticipated delays, WE would be charged, potentially for several extra weeks of service, even though we would no longer live at the serviced address. Further they indicated that if the new resident did not make the bins available on their undetermined pickup date, we would still be charged. Finally, when my wife and I called separately to argue that the above was unacceptable, and asked to speak with a manager, they continually put us on hold for 20+ minutes, as if just trying to make us go away. After my third time on hold, I asked to talk to a manager, again, but said if I was not connected within 3 minutes I would reach out to the Illinois Attorney General's Office to make a complaint about predatory business practices. Miraculously, I was connected to a manager almost immediately. Finally, while the manager confirmed to me (verbally, so it remains to be seen whether they will still process final charges accordingly) that our service charges would end on our move-out day, they informed me they would charege over $37 per bin to retrieve them. Just be aware, Republic has many ways to over charge, and may continue to try even after you move away.

Two young men showed up on time and completed the job even doing more than had been agreed upon. I fully expected to pay more because they did more. They said no, the quoted price was enough.
