Dr Vasquez is excellent! I've been going to see him for years! So thorough! It's a big office and the staff is very helpful.

I went to Central Neurology for neurological care for several debilitating neurological conditions. My care was very necessary and important to me. My care was abruptly and rudely discontinued when the office manager Pam callously informed me my doctor had written a note stating my neurological problem was under control but that I needed a psychiatrist. I find it hard to believe that the doctor I saw is capable of such behavior because he was very appropriate and kind to me. I don't know why the office manager relayed that information to me but it was very hurtful, upsetting and caused my symptoms to get much worse. I think that she violated the HIPPA law and inflicted unnecessary harsh criticism to a vulnerable elderly woman in poor health. I can't believe any doctor would have someone who is capable of such cruelty working in his office. read more

Referred by my PCP for a second opinion to be billed through my medical insurance and was told, I won't be seen. This office came highly recommended, the young lady answering the phone was chewing gum couldn't fully answer any of my questions and hung up on me. First time i called, problems scheduling. Second time I called, the front desk told me the wrong date and time for my first appt. I drove an HOUR to get there, and even though they messed up, the doctor couldn't fit me in (ok, understandable). On the appointment I waited 2 months for--I showed up 16 minutes late. Doctor wouldn't see me and charged $100. I explained i waited months, out of medicine, front desk--doctor wasn't having it. He wanted his money. We were referred here to see Dr. Diaz for my wife's dementia diagnosis. I had only wished we had visited Dr. Diaz years ago. I have never encountered a more empathetic, compassionate physician. She was so engaged and thorough during her examination of my wife. These days my wife has anxiety and depression from her worsening condition but Dr. Diaz really put her at ease. I was equally impressed with the thorough examination for my wife and taking the time with us to gather all pertinent information and answer our questions. We were not rushed at all. The staff was very professional and courteous as well. We are really thankful we found her. read more

I am writing about a specific Dr and not the office operations, etc. Currently in St Pete, it is nearly impossible to get an appointment with any Dr let alone a Neurologist. To many people moving here and not enough Dr's. This is an issue across the board in St Pete right now. BUT, there is one Dr. here that deserves a huge shout out. The Dr. I am speaking of is Dr. William Scharpf. I have been working with Dr. Scharpf, on a few challenges, for over a year now and I have been so incredibly grateful to have him as my Dr. Dr. Scharpf is not only kind and considerate, but he also makes sure you understand everything being communicated to you about your results and next steps, etc. He spends the extra time to truly ensure you understand what is going on and he does this in a way that is understandable to non-Neurologists. Dr. Scharpf is also extremely thorough. He listens and understands that perhaps you could not get answers somewhere else, so he works extra hard to find a resolution / treatment. We are still working on a few things, and I feel 100% confident he is on my side and wants to truly help. It is rare to find a Dr. that is kind, a good listener, an excellent practitioner and one who makes sure his patients understand everything about tests, results, treatments, etc. I highly, highly recommend Dr. Scharpf. read more

I have been going to central neurology for 13 years. The staff, my nurse "Val" and my neurologist Dr. Vasquez has always treated me kind. My wait before my appointment is usually less than 15 minutes. Dr. Vasquez is always kind, respectful and caring. Dr. Vasquez explains your treatment plan and expected outcomes. Dr. Vasquez is very intelligent and wise physician. I'm happy to be under his care. The Staff always return my calls timely and they make me feel special. I realized central neurology treat all the patients special. What an exceptional group of medical professionals. I know my care is in good hands of those who care. read more

I had a good in person experience but have had the WORST experience trying to get my prescription. Months have passed since I started trying to get a prior authorization approved and it is still not done. I was told by Central Neurology that the prescription was sent to my insurance company/pharmacy but both told me that was not true. Once it was finally approved, I discovered it was the wrong dosage so I have to start the process all over. I followed up with my insurance company/pharmacy again today and was told that they had not received any prior authorization despite receiving a text from Central Neurology stating that the prescription had been sent. My cyclical headache condition is now getting worse and I am considering switching to another medication that is not what had been primarily recommended because I cannot seem to receive any help. Also considering switching providers because it does not feel like helping me with this is a priority for them. Extremely disappointed and discouraged at this point. I was originally drawn to Central Neurology by good reviews but my experience has proven otherwise so far. read more

I haven't had a great neurologist in awhile, and Dr. Ziemba has been wonderful. As an epileptic I've had many tests during my life with epilepsy. She ran all the necessary tests to see where I am now, and she is currently having me change my medication to something that is safer for my health in the long run. She is being really careful and tapering me off over a period of around 9 months. She carefully explains everything, and I have found her to be really wonderful. read more

I have never felt so frustrated or disappointed about trying to make an appointment. I called 2 times a day for 3 days in a row and have yet to make an appointment. The people that answer the phone are so RUDE and you can hear the eyeroll over the phone when I said it was me again. I literally CRIED twice after calling them because I am desperate to find out what's wrong with me and they made me feel like I was just pestering them. I still have not heard from anyone and at this point I feel like they are playing a nasty game. read more

Mostly well run office. Friendly, but very traditional Parkinson's treatment and prescriptions. This may mean prognosis without hopefulness. Current alternative Parkinson's information (and positivism) may be found on the internet. A good Physical Therapist, Neurological Chiropractor and massage therapist may also be of great help. My dealings with Dr. Herrema were not impressive. Don't give up. read more

Have been seeing Dr. Ziemba at Central Neurology for almost 2 months. She was great the 1st visit - then once I was put on medication for my persistent headaches I got some serious side effects (blurred vision and red eye) and when I called regarding it they said "it's not the medicine, you should get your eye looked at" - I then called my primary and it definitely was a serious side effect of the medicine so I called Dr. Ziemba's office back to tell them I think they should double check and they said okay yes definitely stop and if you still have headaches come back in....they definitely do not care about the well-being of their patients. I decided to stick with them for now as its hard to get into a Neurologist - I am on my way from Tampa from work to go to my follow up appointment and got stuck on 275 in bad traffic and weather and it was taking me about 30 min longer than it should have and I was looking to be about 10 minutes late - I called to let them know and apologize and then said I definitely cant come in I have to reschedule - They have never seen me one time - I have waited 15-20 min before and I was running 10 min late due to something out of my control and they couldn't care less - HORRIBLE office staff and no one cares about the patients. I am now looking for a new Neuro. read more
