I have caught the bus from the Redmond Airport to Portland at LEAST 20 times now (and then back) so I have had all kinds of experiences. I have been on their smaller buses and the larger. I prefer the larger (obviously) because then you usually don't get stuck next to anybody. It's really tight when you do (but bearable), but comfortable when you get those 2 seats to yourself. Wish ALL the buses had seatbelts. I feel like I am the only person who ever uses them when available but I feel better when they do, but some of them don't. I have also never been on the bus with one of the restrooms while it was actually working.... which is a bummer because I have to pee a LOT and am always anxious for the next stop. Wish they'd just permanently switch over to the buses with the restrooms and get them working. Drivers have ALWAYS been super friendly, I have never had one that created any issues or wasn't nice. Buses are always clean too. I've only had a couple experiences where it was either too hot or too cold, usually though the drivers find a good middle ground for everybody and they also have blankets available. They have to stop a lot during winter to put on/take off the chains, but I have never been too late for a flight out of PDX or for anything else I was going to Portland for, except the one time we got into a small accident (which wasn't the drivers fault and nobody was hurt and nothing was even seriously damaged but still have to deal with the aftermath of that). I wish they wouldn't keep raising the prices, but I understand that isn't something you can always control, but because of it I have actually been flying more often than taking the bus, though this is still a nice option, and since there really aren't any other options bus wise, I'm gonna give it four stars. read more

I give this review 3.7 stars. I've been riding with Central Oregon Breeze for 2 years now. I visit my boyfriend in Central Oregon every other month as is the same for him traveling to see me. We both have had a good experience with this bus company. I've been on the small and large bus. The smaller buses is kind of outdated, but it runs and gets me to where I need to go so I can't complain. I honestly like the bigger bus better because there's a lot more room and I get a seat to myself. The drivers are very nice and very experienced, so I feel safe when we are on the road. They get to their destinations on time, but sometimes we are late because of weather reasons. The downside from my experience is being in a crowded bus on the way home (Portland), no matter what day it is. I can deal with it, but it would be nice if the small buses were a little bigger. Something else I don't like is how the tickets and fees changed. I don't understand why they changed all of that, but all I can say and do is to just read through everything CAREFULLY before booking a ticket. Overall I still plan on riding with Central Oregon Breeze until my boyfriend and I move in together. Thanks to them, I've able to keep my relationship going! read more

My friend and I went to the Breeze office this morning to follow up with a request he made with a driver the night before. As he boarded the bus in Portland he asked if he should change his ticket to one way then or wait until his arrival in Bend. He had purchased a round trip ticket and ended up finding a ride home. The driver told him not to worry and that he could visit the office in the morning for a refund. We went to the office right after they opened and he was told no refunds were allowed. He had seen this notification on the ticket but was told otherwise by the driver. Keep in mind that of he was given accurate information he could have changed it to one way before he boarded the bus. The office refused to refund his overpriced ticket and didn't seem to have much care for customers. Although I was a bystander in this situation I would not want to work with a company like this in the future. read more

My 14 year old grandson rode this from the Portland airport to Bend. He said the driver was personable and it was a smooth ride with no crazy driving (like Greyhound). We will continue to use this. read more

My trip from Bend to Portland on 12/5/15 was uneventful but the bus had no heat. Considering we left Bend at 7am....it was miserable. Everyone was bundled up with coats, hats, scarves and gloves.... Some even had blankets! On the return the bus was plenty warm, we even opened windows to cool off! However, the bus was dirty, really dirty. Yuk! read more

This terrible company has old dated buses and charge exorbitant fees! Not only are the fares already too high BUT they will also slap you with a $20 change fee if you need to change your ticket for any reason. Ridiculous! Awful customer service. Never again. read more

They are now charging almost twice as much for walk- ons. They don't tell you that online, so if you wait for the bus, at 7am, and don't have enough Money, then you are screwed. I've been riding this bus for 15 years- I have ALWAYS paid in cash. I am a hiker coming out of the green lakes trail- I SHOULDVE had my debit card, I get that.- but I am so poor that 60$ is the last of my money and if I have to pay $54 to get home instead of $31? Well, I don't eat tomorrow. Also- the service center promised me ( after calling 3 times) that a supervisor was going to call me. That never happened and I have a feeling it never will. The 'call center' person I spoke with tried their best, and I want to say- the people on the phone lines and the busses are clearly trying their best. THEY are doing a good job. She was kind to me, even though I was clearly upset.However I think she was giving me a fake answer, when she told me a supervisor would call...... I am extremely upset with the way The Breeze is doing it's business...... and I want EVERYONE to know- The Breeze cost almost twice as much, if you ARE POOR, and you have to pay, in person, rather than ordering, Online. Tomorrow I will show up at the bus, at the rate that's listed online (there is nothing on their website, or anywhere, that posts the extra charge) . I just attempted my first ride with CO Breeze and was extremely disappointed with the service. I purchased an economy ticket to visit family in Bend and came down with an illness that rendered me unable to travel. I called to change my reservation understanding that there was a $20 change fee, which is typical and something I was ready to pay. What I was told was shocking- that I had to pick a date within the next hour in the next 6 months or I would have to forgo my ticket in full. Because I am sick and this was not a foreseen cancellation, I did not have an alternate date at this time to change my ticket to. Additionally, I would have to pay $20 each time I changed (per each way) if the date I picked didn't work out. I do understand that there are premium tickets available, and read the additional benefit for full refunds. I consciously chose not to purchase this ticket type because a/ I have family in Bend and knew I would be making regular trips out there and b/ $124 round trip is more than I'm able to shell out on a regular basis. I am completely baffled by the fact that they have chosen to organize the business such that I have to cancel any reservation (a $96 value) because I don't know what date. Every other travel service I have used allows that credit to go to a future ride, not to take the opportunity to profit off of my inability to travel at this time. I love to use local services like this because they tend to help people, not hurt them; yet this screams profiteering. I truly hope they work to reorganize. I cannot imagine that I am the first nor the last to experience this, and I would expect a company to take its customers best interest in mind, not to mention work to secure long-term loyalty. read more

The bus was 2.5 hours late. they asked me to arrive promptly at 5:30 pm so I could load my belongings so the bus could leave on schedule at 6pm. On my trip the bus did not arrive until 8:30 pm and gave riders no warning. The company's office closed at 5pm so I could not even contact them to cancel my trip and find another ride. I left three messages on their answering machine asking to call me the next day to refund my ticket.... No call the next day. There was no way to find out the status of the bus to even know if it was arriving at all. On fellow rider later found out that you could listen to an outdated messaging system which would tell riders the buses schedule. When I called it said the bus was 2.5 hours late and to give another half hour window for variability. The bus ride itself was sub par the drive was slow and took almost 5 hours to get from Portland to Bend not only was I late for several things but did not even get in until 1:30AM.The original bus was scheduled to arrive at 10:30. Ive ridden the Breeze in the past and it was fine. Clearly the management and company overall has gone downhill over the years. read more

My 5:00am flight from Redmond to Portland was cancelled and I was stranded at the airport with my 4 yr old daughter. We called and found out the bus picks up at the airport at 7:20am. We were able to easily purchase tickets from the bus driver when the bus arrived. Was this the most comfortable way to make a 3 hour drive, no. But I will say our driver (Bill Coy) and the co-driver (Kerrie Webster) we're super personable and did everything in their power to make it a pleasant experience. At one point my daughter dropped a small little doll she was playing with and we were all searching the bus to find it to no avail. About 10 days after returning home a package arrive in the mail.. It was the little doll she had dropped with a note from the bus drivers! So very sweet of them to take time out their day to mail this little toy all the way back to Oklahoma. Made my daughters day (mine too)! read more

Nita at Central OR Breeze was fantastic to work with when planning our wedding. They provided two shuttles for our wedding transportation; a 25 person for the wedding party and a 50 person bus to transport our guests to/from Seventh Mountain up to Sparks Lake for the ceremony. The 50 person bus has a bathroom, which was a plus considering the facilities at Sparks Lake are quite rustic, especially for many of the New Yorkers who traveled to Bend for our wedding. The drivers were on-time and super friendly! I highly recommend using them for your transportation needs. read more

The Breeze is great! It offers a nice convenient way to travel to Portland for either those without a car or those looking to not drive over the pass in the winter. My mom took the Breeze to catch a flight at PDX after visiting me in Bend which was convenient for me because I didn't have to drive the PDX and she got a more direct flight to the east (instead of going to Redmond). I took the Breeze to fly home for Christmas so I didn't have to drive to PDX and back. If the price for the Breeze plus plane or train tickets from Portland is a better deal than flying from Redmond don't hesitate. Sometimes they run a little slow (but in winter driving you cannot complain) but the drivers are very nice and you get to enjoy the lovely views the whole way there. read more

This is a badly needed service. But these buses are terrible. Very old, dirty and don't seem very safe. I've ridden to Portland twice. Both times it was a small bus with an extremely rough ride. It was about a 4 hour ride to Portland. This is the only option for transportation to PDX by bus. It works as a last resort. The cost of the ride is about $50. New buses are surely needed. Central Oregon Breeze provided a convenient and comfortable alternative to driving between Portland and Bend. The bus seats are superior to airplane seats but space may have felt more limited if I hadn't gotten both seats to myself. There was a 10 minute bathroom stop at Dairy Queen prior to the long part of the trip, followed by a gas station stop in Madras. The bus arrived right on time at all stops, but we didn't face any traffic. Would definitely recommend this service and plan to use it again myself. read more

Did you know you can take a bus from Seattle to Portland for as low as free (typically about $15). The service from Seattle to Portland is called "The Bolt". It is operated by Greyhound. Seriously, if you're one of the lucky ones you can get a bus trip for free or just $1. Still at $15, what a bargain. Fast too. I lived in St. George, UT area for a few years not long ago. They're schedule is excellent (lots of departure times), and for $35 (https://www.stgeorgeexpress.com). Of course, your other choices to go from Bend to Portland are... ... almost non-existent - I guess Craigslist 'ride-share' listing. read more

This has been the most horrible experience, I have been charged extra charges for changing my times due to family and family circumstances and today I arrived at the Redmond Airport and they were no show so now my Father is considering flying me home. Two and a half stars. Rating is for Bend to Portland. Pros: Departed and arrived on schedule; adequate number of rest stops; interior wasn't filthy. Cons: Really unpleasant smells, alternating between diesel exhaust and stale laundry (CoBreeze's idea of air freshener??); very stiff, bone jarring ride; no seatbelts; limited departure times. When's all said and done, it got the job done. But price is high for only "adequate" service. read more

Terrible. Uncomfortable shuttle bus seats with air conditioning NOT working. We sat in crowded discomfort and sweating for 4+ hours. Corresponded with the office via email and they said they were aware and also that "everything is being taxed in this unusually hot weather". The only reason I am giving this review two stars is as a nod to past service. I don't usually take the time to post these things, but I just had an exceptionally poor experience. As a little background, my car was recently stolen while up visiting my son in the Portland area. As a result, I have taken to using the Breeze for transportation for him during visits. He is a minor. So far, everything had been satisfactory trip-wise up until last night. Being that I don't have a vehicle just yet, I have had to rely on rideshare services in order to pick him up. Usually this goes very smoothly. Last night, unexpectedly (this should go without saying), the app glitched out on me and would not let me request a ride. I double checked my payment info and my bank balance- everything was good. I was left with few options as my son was already at the final destination. He had arrived a bit ahead of schedule, and despite my having requested that he notify me when he got to the Redmond stop, he didn't. He's thirteen. I don't know if the driver made an announcement or not- I do know that on the last trip the driver had had the foresight to call me himself when they hit Redmond to inform me of being half an hour early, which I would not have known otherwise. At any rate, this time I had no forewarning that they were early, and when I went to arrange transportation I ran into an obstacle. I wound up having to install another rideshare app, set up an account and then wait for my ride. By the time I got there I was ten minutes past the scheduled arrival time, and roughly twenty after the actual arrival time. I attempted to explain the extenuating circumstances, but the driver opted to cut me off and scold me instead. Remember- I'm a repeat customer with no history of this. This morning, before I had a chance to call with some feedback of my own, I received a rather brusque call from the Breeze informing me of their pick up policy- of which I am already aware, and when i explained the unforeseen circumstances the woman just kept getting defensive and shifting blame. I was threatened with having my child dropped off at the police station if I'm more than five minutes late, and there was no acknowledgement of their failure to reach out to me (as previous drivers have done) to either let me know they would be early, or find out if I was on the way. This experience was already troubling enough, knowing my son was waiting in a strange place, without the additional bullying. I would think twice about using this service for a minor as you have to be in the vicinity at least half an hour before arrival lest you be fined and have your child traumatized and dropped off at the police station for being 6 or more minutes late. And heaven forbid that life throw you a curveball- because obviously everything always goes according to plan! read more

Our 18 year old booked a ticket and realized within 20 minutes he had made mistake. He called back right away to make the change and they insisted on charging him the change fees. Are you kidding $40 worth of fees for a simple mistake by an 18 year old?? We had used this service quite a lot over the last few years and so I figured they would be willing to help us out at least a little. So I sent an email to their "customer service" and this is what I got back: "I do understand simple mistakes, however, our system has you verify the times and dates twice. It looks like he booked for an entire different week. Change fees are explained up front, that is why you are asked to verify. Unfortunately there is nothing that I can do. Thank you, Carry Coffman Route Manager/Charter Manager " Carry Hoffman just cost the Central Oregon Breeze my business for the rest of my life as well as any of my friends that will listen all over $40. Sure hope it was worth it!! Businesses should have flexibility and humanity for customer service situations. This lack of understanding and holding to their policy is terrible. Just terrible. ***Update*** I am attaching the response I got when I told Carry Coffman that I was no longer going to use them and I was going to post a Yelp and Google review about my experience. This is the most lame response ever. It screams 5 year old saying "FINE, you win I am taking my toys and running" Whom ever is in charge at Central Oregon Breeze should no longer allow this person to interact with unhappy customers because they made this so much worse. If you were really able to override the policy and refund the money. Wouldn't it have been better if you did it when you knew we were not happy? Wouldn't it been easier to say, I am really sorry for the experience, I will be more then happy to help you out this time. We hope to help you with your travel needs in the future. Now wouldn't that be a better way to show how important your customers are to you?? In my line of work, I would never say "NO" to a customer over $40. The positive advertising I would get from taking care of my customer is worth WAY more then $40. Make your own decision on what you think of this. I for one am standing by my original decision. I will not do business with a company that treats me like this. "We appreciate all of our customers. With the extreme expense associated with offering a discounted ticket that is lower than our basic ticket before the price change and the office personnel to change these tickets, that is why there is a premium ticket with the ability to make those changes without acquiring any fees. I will refund these fees this time and this time only. It will be noted in the system as well so there will no more exceptions. Please be reminded that when booking in the future that you are booking for the exact date that you want, and if you believe that there will be changes, then maybe you need to be booking premium tickets and not economy. Having experienced Central Oregon Winters for many years it is so nice to have transportation available that is safe and comfortable. Sometimes it can be daunting and terrifying to drive over Mt Hood in the winter. I love having the option traveling to Portland and not being the driver. We have used Central Oregon Breeze 4 times. Of the 4 times they have been late for pickups every time by 45-55 minutes and drop off by 50 minutes. They have been on time only once. We use the airport location for our travels. Another note you have no idea the location of the bus at any time and the offices closed at 5pm so you can't even call to find out how late the bus is or again its location. Plus the lateness of the bus has also caused us higher parking fees at the airport waiting for the missing bus. read more

The Breeze is fine unless you need to get picked up in Goverment Camp. The bus driver forgot not just once but on 4 different occasions. The dispatcher said it was a new driver. There is another option called the Mt Hood Express. They run every 90 minutes. On the positive the Breeze always gives us a refund. read more

We took this bus in 2010 when traveling from the Portland Airport to Bend. It was in the summer, and the bus was air conditioned, and not overcrowded. I had a lovely conversation with two older professors, who were heading overseas; one taught nursing, the other physical education, and we discussed many issues of political, social, and religious significance. The drivers were friendly, courteous, and helpful, and the trip went smoothly, with some of the most gorgeous views I ever saw in my entire life. We passed through Indian reservations, mountains, lush green redwood and pine forests, desert, brush, and all sorts of natural environments. I regret not taking any pictures. The prices, I'm sure, have increased over the years, but should I ever wish to visit Bend again, and I would like to, I'd gladly take this bus. read more

I think it's time for a competitor. I've taken the Breeze many times. Being the only game in town for rides to Portland, I feel they've become lax. The buses are rickety and frankly scary. I rode from Portland to Bend one night last winter in the dark because none of the interior lights were working. Couldn't even read. The lousy shocks make for a bumpy ride and some of the seats have no seat belts or headrests. Also, the cost is too high for the service received. Wish there was an option like Megabus. That said, the bus drivers are friendly, and it Is a way to get to PDX. Just think they could make some improvements in safety, comfort and cost. read more

My wife bought a ticket at the lowest price of $47. Then she suffered a health emergency that made her unable to travel. I called to cancel, knowing that there was a penalty for any change because we had bought a ticket without free change/cancellation benefits. I was prepared to pay that penalty and get a refund, or a credit for future use, for the remainder of her ticket. But I was told that she had to rebook at the same time as the cancellation or there would be no credit or refund. Of course, because she was experiencing a health crisis, she didn't know when she would be able to travel so I couldn't rebook at the time. The people on the phone were incredibly rude and inflexible and if this is indeed their policy, it is a ridiculously and needlessly unfriendly one to customers. I will avoid this company at all costs in the future, based both on their policy and on the nastiness of their staff. read more

We rode the Breeze from Portland to Bend when we needed to meet family and didn't want to brave the snowy pass. The Breeze was a good inexpensive option. Our driver was friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the number of dogs on the bus (five!) and a couple of the owners weren't very concerned about their dogs barking and snarling at other dogs. That's disconcerting to a child who is afraid of dogs after several bad experiences. Also the bus kind of smelled like a wet dog. read more

This is a great transport option between PDX and Bend. We have ridden this bus in all the different seasons with NO problems. During the winter we encountered snow with the roads being very snowy. But the drivers were excellent! I would not have chosen to drive this route myself in such conditions, but the drivers were so careful and safe! They were very courteous and helpful. read more

I can only speak to renting charters. You don't really have many options in Central Oregon, but I did not have a good experience with Central Oregon Breeze. We used them to provide shuttles to and from our wedding. Though we originally asked for transportation for 110 guests, when we changed the pick up locations they also changed the contract to one 59 person bus rather than two. I failed to notice this change, so on our wedding day many guests had to drive themselves instead. The bus was also more than 20 minutes late. When we sent final payment via a check mailed to the address listed on their website, it was undeliverable and the post office returned it to us five weeks later. The helpful email from COB told us only the city, state, and zip of their new address. read more

My friend booked Central Oregon Breeze to take a group of 20 of us from Sunriver to the Bend breweries for a 30th birthday celebration this past weekend. It turned out to be a total disaster. We had booked their smaller shuttle bus as the roads in Sunriver are a bit narrow and windy, but the driver decided to take the large charter bus instead. She ended up taking a turn too closely and as a result the side wheels got stuck in the snow and was unable to get the bus out. She called to let us know, and in her voicemail stated that Sunriver hadn't done anything to upkeep the roads in the snow (the roads were perfectly plowed, just not meant for a huge charter bus as any experienced driver should have been able to see). I totally understand that accidents happen, but not once did she apologize for the inconvenience or thank the 5 guys in our group that tirelessly worked to try and dig the wheels out of the snow or try various tactics to get the bus moving. When I inquired if there was another bus that could take us to the breweries, I was dismissed and told that there was nothing that could be done. When her boss finally arrived, I voiced my complaints about the driver, he simply said that the driver was concerned because she was in trouble with him for getting stuck in the snow. The bus was blocking our entire driveway so none of the cars could get out, and we had a few people that needed to take a car to catch a flight at the airport. Myself and a couple others started shoveling snow to try and widen the driveway and we were never offered help by the boss or the driver, and they never acknowledged the hassle that they were blocking the driveway. When they finally were able to get a tow truck to get the bus out, they drove away and left all the cardboard and materials used to try and get traction just in the street for us to clean up. Ultimately, a little compassion and acknowledgement of the inconvenience we were caused would have gone a long way in this situation, but instead they were only concerned about getting their bus going. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more
