The staff were extremely condescending and unfriendly. I was only there for 20 minutes and they are charging my health insurance $1,400 I left because I did not like the attitudes or the care I was getting. Now they are charging me $125 of my own money when they did absolutely nothing for me no test no IV nothing. I caught them lying to me and that kind of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Do yourself a favor take a ride down the road and go to Hackensack. They're very friendly and have great bedside manners. read more

Excellent care before, during, and after surgery by doctors, nurses, and staff. The only problem is that there is supposed to be valet parking (according to someone we spoke with at the hospital) and there is a sign outside the main door, but there isn't and the parking lots are usually filled by noon. read more

I was hospitalized at Centrastate for diverticulitis, where I had emergency surgery. I am incredibly grateful for the care I received. From the moment I arrived, the staff was professional and acted with a sense of urgency that put me at ease during a stressful time. The doctors, nurses, and other staff were all exceptional. They were not only highly skilled, but also attentive and compassionate. A full team of surgeons, infectious disease doctors, general doctors, head nurses, patient advocates, etc. checked in with me each morning. The hospital itself was clean, well-organized and run efficiently. The nursing staff and aides in particular all went above and beyond, regularly checking in, managing my pain, and making sure I was as comfortable as possible during my recovery. Thanks to the incredible team here, my surgery was successful and my recovery has been smooth. What a disappointment!!! People in the medical field that are not caring. We have an family member in their mid 80s. They are having issues with memory and we have one family member dedicated to contacting the hospital for updates because nobody talks with us. This designated personal calls for everyone so we all don't take up the staffs' time. Here is what happens, the nurses say they don't know and don't have time to talk. We ask what is updated in the notes. "We will look and get back to you". They don't. Leave messages for the doctor to call us, they don't. Only Dr. Dennis calls. What a good man. He works with the other doctors on the team. He even asks them to call, they don't. Dr. Dennis is the best person we have met and dealt with at the hospital. He is caring to our family member and really cares. Thank you Dr. Dennis!!! He is the only reason why felt even okay with our family member at Centre State. read more

The rating really doesn't do justice to the exceptional staff and the modern facility offered here. I have had multi-day experience at two other hospitals in the past year (yes a terrible year), namely, NewYork Presbyterian and Elmhurst in Queens NY. These were truly awful! Relatively speaking, CMC is day and night difference. And even in an absolute sense, CMC is outright 5 stars. The facility is new, ambiance current, technologies cutting edge, and the staff onsistently friendly and professional. Parking is close and free. Visiting hours are 10 am to 7 pm. You checking in the lobby using your drivers license; in exchange your get a photo guest pass. There is a nice little cafeteria in the lobby immediately at the main entrance (2). My family and I were in awe of how consistently friendly, responsive and helpful each of the many staff we came to interact with was (big shout out to North 4). OK there was one exception, ironically with the receptionists at the check in at both ER the and the main hospital. They were not friendly per se. I was visiting my Mom in the ER but there was already 2 visitors with her so I had to call one of them to come out before I could go in. However there was no cellular signal inside the room they were in. I told the receptionist and he said "you still need to go sit down and wait until there is signal!". What so how would they know to come out. I was smoldering. Luckily before I made a scene he quickly corrected himself and made a call to the room to have someone come out. A near miss!!! I still won't hesitate to recommend CMC to my friends and relatives. It's top notch service. PS. Oh the meals for the patients were pretty high quality too! read more

What do you think of a hospital that doesn't do an X-ray on an 85 year old's hip after he falls in a driveway and cannot walk? Well look no further than Centrastate, where common sense doesn't even exist. To add even more to their gross negligence, my father was admitted and for 2.5 weeks, they actually tried to get him to walk on a broken hip! Now , how many rational people think after 2.5 weeks Centrastate should have been able to diagnose that an 85 yr old who fell and cant walk might have a broken hip? Do you think maybe someone would have suggested, "hey let's x-ray his hip". Incompetence everywhere. Finally, Centrastate released him to Applewood Village Rehab in Freehold. They after only a few days sent him to another Orthopedic who immediately diagnosed my father with a broken hip. Centrastate, shame on you! My 71 year old father went to the Er with C/o Abdominal Pain and Blood when urinating, was there for 8 hours waiting then put into a hallway bed to be discharge telling him basically it was a UTI and given antibiotics. NO US no MRI No Catscan nothing! I Took him to Saint Peter's Facility where an US was done and Mri to find out he has a Tumor in Liver and some other stuff going on which is why he is in so much pain unfortunately. I scheduled a bone density at the Central state wellness center with the most kind, accommodating person, Julia, she answered my many questions. My bone density test was administered by one of the most knowledgeable nurses I have ever had the great pleasure of meeting, Nef Tali. We've been waiting in the ER waiting room for over 3 hours. Some girl was throwing up everywhere and they didn't even clean it up when they took her in. People were sitting in it and next to her bucket full of vomit. Maybe if they didn't force vaccine mandates on people they wouldn't be short staffed and they'd be able to process patients better. This is ridiculous. *update. We waited 4 hours in the waiting room, then an hour in the room in the back before they came in and talked to us, then another 45 min for medicine. I had my daughter there in 1996 the nurses there were very insensitive and cold. The doctor was very late and the nurses treated me like I did not matter. When I called for help they did not come. I have BCBS PPO very good insurance and I was suppose to have a private room. Instead they put me in a room with an elderly man that moaned and cried and screamed the entire night because he was in excruciating pain. I called the nurse and they said there was nothing that they could do. The next day I complained more and they moved me to the pediatric department. I had a Cardiac Catheterization done during a frightening health scare. I was very impressed with my experience with the whole team at the CentraState cardiac Lab. It was a pleasant, clean and professional setting. The staff were ALL friendly and attentive. When it came to the procedure itself, I was always well informed and made comfortable. Dr. Jatinchandra Patel was very communicative and reassuring. I had a completely painless procedure and "Almost" had fun. I watched a loved one initially get what I believe was inferior care from the ER Doctor, by this I mean there was no sense of urgency in his work ethic and that was tough to see as my family member was in excruciating pain most of the time in the ER. The nurses were very nice, but seemingly the ratio of patients to nurses has them overwhelmed. The on call doctor for the patient's potential/possible source of pain never came down to see the patient, only spoke to the ER Doctor on the phone..... Upon admission to the Main Hospital, the floor Doctor initially came off as condescending. My loved one was in extreme pain, they pumped pain meds when it was possible, did several X-rays, scans etc to no avail. They called in for a consult with another Doctor who ordered a test BUT, they do not do these tests on the weekend....So for two additional days the patient had to remain in the hospital to wait to take the test. Come the day of the test a staff member made an error which prevented the patient from taking the test. It's now three extra days. The test was finally administered and a diagnosis was determined.....The patient went home the following day....... The nurses and techs were very nice, the Doctor brought his initial attitude down a few notches....Having said that, having a patient in severe pain etc and not having the ability to provide the necessary test on the weekend is asinine. In my opinion this is reckless, and cruel treatment to the patient. Had the test been administered in a timely manner, at least two days would have been shaved off the patients hospital stay...... If I break my pinky, I'd have to think twice if I'd go here for treatment. While the outside of the Hospital is enormous and seemingly very impressive, nothing impressed me at all here...... read more

I was taken to this hospital by an ambulance when I broke my ankle . ER staff was nice and quick . but when the orthopedic resident came in with the X-ray and CT results , the first word spit of this mouth were " you have a very very bad , very bad injury". I knew I ad a bad injury but did the Dr have to say this to my face ln a manner that made me feel bad about this accident When I was moved to an orthopedic floor finally in day two the first thing I was asked if I spoke English ! Based on what do you ask this question !?! When I asked to connect my charger the nurse said that it took her a while to find a outlet to plug In one of the machines she used... and that it would be impossible to change my phone . I could see the outlet from my bed but with a broke ankle not much can be done I don't want to call the nurse an extra time to ask for a bedpan because it feels like I am bothering them ! I realize that night shifts are hard ... but ... you chose to work here !!! The worst hospital I have ever been too . I am writing this in my bed in pain and I assume I should feel bad about being In pain . What a disgrace to a medical field Ah and forgot to add - when the nurse brought in my meds in the morning it was a time for her shift to be over soon so she didn't bother to go get me water , she just took it from the sink next to my bed !!! There's something very wrong at this emergency room, and these situations always start at the top. Whoever the so-called director or doctor in charge is should be concerned and ashamed for the display of animalistic behavior of their staff in their E.R. and their personal failure to reign in the unethical treatment. Doctors and nurses need to learn that their licenses are vulnerable for the disgusting behavior that I have witnessed at this facility and that they will be held responsible for their actions. I have no problem to personally go after their livelihoods through the regulating agencies as anyone with a complaint absolutely should. I have had to make the hard decision to go to the Jersey Shore Medical E.R., an extra half an hour away, and chance death over being treated like trash by those that have either forgotten or simply don't care about their oath, or realize that they are in the health care industry. Save the auto reply that basically says "sorry" or how I can better be served. The patients are not Doctors or nurses and the horrible service is your problem to fix. The N.J. Medical Board through the N.J. Attorney Generals office and the N.J. Board of Nursing in Newark are good places to start if anyone has a complaint. Those that were treated poorly should contact these agencies over and over to weed out the incompetent and uncaring staff members that are better suited to work in a non medical environment and do not deserve the privilege of being in charge of one's most precious asset, their health. read more

Lobby is gorgeous. I had a friend who got admitted to CCU. I told them which floor, room # and area (CCU). The receptionist kept telling me she's not there at the lobby. This shenanigan continued for a while. Finally, a smart person intervened and said the receptionist, Jessica should just call up. Bingo, they found my friend. If I could give this crap hole zero stars I would. Starting with Ruth at reception - who is the rudest, nastiest human being with the personality of a rash. People are coming into a hospital for serious reasons or dealing with a dying or sick relative and she barks at you. She's awful! I can't believe this is who they have at the front desk of a hospital. The staff, although mostly great has terrible communication. Drs don't know what other Drs are doing, they don't have medications in house, they don't know what they are curing. This has been the worst experience ever. I was there on 5-22 for an echocardiogram my rx said echocardiogram.... The technician decided to do it with contrast and got a nurse to start the IV...i do understand that sometimes it is hard to find a vein but she put the tourniquet on and im sure almost everyone knows how that hurts. She left me for approximately 3-5 min while chatting with the tech. I said are u serious you leave me here. Long story short she now tried to find my vein and kept poking me. I told her to stop and remove she had no clue what she was doing besides it never said on tx to do this. An echocardiogram is a sonogram unless dr wants contrast. Never again go there for anything. University radiology is so much better. It was so wrong for her to decide on her own to do this without an ordet from dr. Terrible. My arm All black and blue and hurts. read more

I see that someone at Centrastate Hospital responded to my review, asking me to contact them regarding my terrible experience in this hospital's ER. I have not called, nor will I. Because, what good will it do? There are many other reviews describing experiences just as horrific as my own, they received similar responses from the hospital, and obviously nothing has changed (as evidenced by the timing and frequency of the other reviews & responses), so all it will do is upset me and traumatize me further. I have undergone 2 abdominal surgeries this year (please note that I presented to this ER in Sept. of 2022 with 10/10 abdominal pain, and had a horrible experience while there; please refer to my original review, and I also recommend reading other 1 star reviews about this place), and am now under treatment for PTSD, have been for some time. When I think about this dehumanizing experience (and others I've had with incompetent, negligent, non-empathetic medical personnel, which were also very traumatizing), I begin to cry and shake involuntarily. I get lost in the thoughts and feelings surrounding this, and it hurts my heart so badly. It hurts to know that people who were supposed to be caring for me, and about me, simply did not. It will always hurt me that this happened, for the rest of my life. I just hope that someday the involuntary crying/shaking PTSD episodes will stop. Terrible hospital! I went to the ER for severe stomach pains that I was having and had one of the worst experiences of my life. They got me in, got the testing done then kept me and my family waiting for hours. I never saw an actual doctor, just a nurse practitioner. It took forever for someone to take the iv out of my arm, and for someone to get us to be released so we could actually leave. They found nothing wrong with me and I was billed over $10,000 for the visit. My insurance is covering most of it but I am still left with a bill of over $1800.00. CentraState is a good hospital. I was there for a surgical procedure, and I can't remember when I had been better treated in a hospital setting. The entire staff was efficient, friendly, and dedicated to their jobs. Preop and postop stays were made free of anxiety or discomfort by the constant attention of staff. The hospital was clean and well appointed for its mission. Today, 04/29/23, at 12 pm I went to the Main Lobby Help desk to drop off 12 infusion bags for community service. It states on their website that the infusion bags can be dropped off on Saturdays from 9am-8pm (that is incorrect). Instead of nicely telling me to bring them back another time, the lady who "helped" me was so nasty. It makes me wonder why I even tried to do something nice. I donated 30+ hours of my time to put together these bags for the children undergoing treatment and she yelled at me, belittled me, and laughed at me as it was clearly a miscommunication on their part. Then as I walked away, she began talking about me to her coworker. How unprofessional. To work at a hospital, a HELP desk, and to act like this- unacceptable. She is the first person some people speak to when they are on their way to see a sick loved one. I recommend rethinking the face of the help desk. read more
