I had a very disappointing experience at the University Radiology Group location in East Brunswick…read more This is not the first time I've noticed that I am directed to use the self-check-in iPad while other patients who arrive after me are immediately called to the front desk and assisted by staff. During my most recent visit, there was no one being helped when I approached the front desk, yet I was told to use the iPad instead of being assisted. While I was checking in, other patients arrived and were immediately called to the desk. I politely asked why they were being helped while I was always sent to the iPad. The front desk employee told me it was because those patients were walk-ins. I then asked, "How did you know I had an appointment if I hadn't even said a word or given you my name? My appointment isn't written on my clothes." I felt the explanation did not make sense and did not address why I was being treated differently. The situation became even more upsetting when one of the front desk employees raised her voice. When I respectfully asked her to lower it, she replied, "I was born like that." It was only after I told her I was going to record the interaction that she lowered her voice. I found this behavior unprofessional and disrespectful. I felt I was treated differently from other patients. I cannot say why, but because this has happened more than once, it left me questioning whether I was being treated fairly. Every patient deserves to be treated with the same courtesy, respect, and professionalism. I do want to recognize that the radiology technologist who performed my exam was kind, professional, and respectful. My complaint is specifically about my experience with the front desk staff, not the clinical care I received. I hope management addresses this issue and ensures all patients are treated consistently and respectfully from the moment they arrive.

Today was my appointment. It started at the Somerset location where I was told I had come to the…read morewrong location although it was listed on top of the paper and that I needed to travel during rush hour to arrive in East Brunswick time for a2:15pm appointment. I clearly stated to the representative that there was no way I would make it on time and she proceeded to call East Brunswick where I could clearly hear the person say, " yes, tell her to come, and we will see her when she gets here." After driving 40 minutes during rush hour to get there, I was cancelled and made to come back the next day. I have been a patient of University Radiology for well over 15 years and All of a sudden just this year, I've been receiving subpar customer service. It is really unbelievable that you would force a patient who has just had neck surgery 2 weeks ago, and was told after speaking to your office while I stood there and clearly heard your staff say, "to come back to your facility the next day" after cancelling my appointment! Listen, my time is valuable which is why I made this appointment 3 weeks ago! This is not how offices should be ran, especially not in this day and age where people are losing their jobs left and right! There should be an office manager onsite at all times during office hours of operation! No excuse! No manager, no assistant manager...just receptionist at the front desk telling me that they do not know who Somerset's location spoke to! As a patient, I do not feel my health was prioritized at all, and as a woman, I think there is a deep insensitivity to our overall healthcare because cancer has become so common. The reason there is so many lost battles is because of the people patients are forced to interface with initially. This was by far , my breaking point dealing with University Radiology!! By no means, should I , nor other patients for that matter be forced to just simply suck it up. The office manager called me this morning to get my side and to find out if I would/ could come in this afternoon. I replied "no and that I'll never go back there again". No one cares about your healthcare and to all patients you had better advocate for yourself! If you don't, it may be a question of life or death. I will only spend money where I'm valued and my health is a priority. It's disgusting where healthcare has gotten this country especially after this God forsaken administration! Again, I will never a back to University Radiology after dealing with the incompetence of those representatives that work there. And let me add, my initial appointment was at 2:15 pm , which was the same time East Brinswick's location cancelled my appointment. I arrive to them at 2:34pm and played games until almost 3pm! What profile are put into place for late appointments especially the ones that were told to come to your site by your site?!
