I found Dr. Goldberg, and made a consultation appointment with him. He took X-rays, examined my teeth, and said one of your tooth definitely needs root canal but the other one does not for now. Then he thoroughly explained what was going on with the tooth nerves inside my gum, why the tooth needed root canal and how the root canal could save my tooth. Dr. Goldberg's explanations were very convincing. Although very much scared of root canal procedure, I decided to go for it. The root canal treatment was completed in 2 sessions each 1.5 hours long (total of 3 hours). I found Dr, Goldberg kind, nice, considerate, caring, experienced and professional in his job. He never was in a rush. He always had time for my questions, and patiently addressed all my concerns and questions. He gave me his email address, his cellphone number and work number, and said feel free to call any time if you have any questions or concerns. During the root canal procedure, he checked on me several times to be sure that I was comfortable and was feeling no pain. Sometimes he made funny conversations to distract my thoughts from things were going on inside my mouth. After Dr. Goldberg got the root canal treatment done, I was so happy and satisfied that I hugged him. :) Two days later, he called me to follow up. What else could I want from a doctor? He's a no-nonsense, straightforward kind of guy- a man of few words. Sometimes, that's a little scary (I'm someone who needs a little hand-holding for this stuff, typically), but I'd prefer a more solemn-faced, excellent doctor, over someone who will baby me but just do an OK job. The woman at the front desk was so sweet - she kind of makes you feel "at home" at a place where most are nervous wrecks. Honestly - she was so sweet. Hygienists were very nice, too - the small talk helped calm my nerves a bit. It was my first root canal, and I had zero idea of what to expect. He did tell me before he started that it's never as bad as people say, and for the most part, he was right. There definitely was SOME pain (I mean, you have to expect a little), but he was great. Later, after that dentist had moved (and after a less-than-happy few appointments with a second dentist) I was able to change over to Dr. Smolyar. Dr. Smolyar is very calm and soothing, explains things well without a lot of hype or being pushy, and has a great sense of humor and 'chairside' manner. Having him work on my teeth was a 100% improvement over the dentist I'd switched over from. While my experience with the second dentist was enough to push me to another dentist, my experience with Dr. Smolyar was good enough to keep me from leaving the practice altogether. Dr. Smolyar and his office staff were a pleasure to work with.

And when I first joined they were willing to work with me on a dental plan that works for me. Now it is aggressive treatment and pressure sells that requires X-rays every 6 months and deep cleanings. If you don't like it, I was told by the front desk to GET OUT. Ok you got your wish, good riddance.

I just took a new job and have to move out of state. I was overdue for an appointment and worked with the team to squeeze in before my move. They have a new receptionist team that is incapable of running this business. They rescheduled and kept playing musical chairs with their clients appointments trying to move them around. I just went in for my appointment finally, a few days before my move- for them to tell me they do not take BCBS anymore and would charge me $450 for the appointment. When asked why I wasn't notified of this , they claim they had Delta Dental on file for me. (Later when I called back- I told them my appointment in December with BCBS and they confirmed that is who they billed out.) For months I've received emails from them telling me I was due for an appointment and to call and schedule. NOTHING about no longer accepting BCBS. I left the office so upset and called back to speak with the supervisor, Crystal. She was just as incompetent as her team. She said "if it was that big of a deal, they would have billed out to BCBS and had me mail them the check..." when I clarified that she meant bill, she corrected and said check. She wanted me to pay my insurance for seeing them out of network, and then wanted me to pay THEM whatever portion of my appointment that insurance would cover... wow they truly care about the customer... I requested a call back from Dr. Putt and plan on telling him what a disaster his team has become. When it was him and his one front desk receptionist, they might have been short handed- but they were good and actually cared and had their sh*t more together than they do now. Now I have wasted time making appointments, going to an appointment I had to leave, talking to them, crying in my car, and writing this post- all to be moving out of state with a new job, stressed as can be, and overdue for a dental appointment (after getting completely screwed over by the practice my family and I have given business to for over a decade.) I am beyond upset, and cannot advise others more to find a different dentist- this is NOT the same practice that it used to be.

She gave me 6 Veneers on my front teeth to correct my peg teeth, and I never thought I would ever smile confidently in my life until I got them. I've had multiple fillings and cleanings, and my sister has had many root canals with them, and my dad getting almost every dental procedure possible from them. The receptionist, Lisa, is incredibly accommodating and tries her best to get you the attention and help you need, especially when dealing with insurance companies. The office itself is quaint and comforting. I've been to some terrible dentists in my life, and I'm honestly terrified of what to do if Dr. Novak ever retires!!

So I did it and after that-- I never stopped feeling discomfort and pain. When I went back for a cleaning I reported my tooth was still hurting and was scheduled to re do that filling. After the second time, I felt even more pain and realized the filling was not done properly and the filling chipped off. I went back a THIRD time-- explained that there seems to be something chipped and was told she saw an infection in the x-ray and that I needed a root canal (not covered by insurance)... I couldn't believe it. So, I went to AN ENDODONTIST-- paid out of pocket and was told that based on a thorough evaluation and x-rays, I did not need a root canal. I then went to another dentist and they too said, "there is no infection". Please get a second opinion before you agree to anything this doctor recommends. Two stars--- because the Dental Hygenist that cleaned my teeth was EXCELLENT!
