Great oral surgeon. He did such a great job on my implant that I didn't even need the prescribed post-op pain meds. Highly recommend.

Macafee is out of the network of our insurance policy, I asked for a detailed list of charges before the operation.

Anything regarding my teeth is my nightmare. I wish that I could be knocked out during a routine…read moredental cleaning. I don't know what it is, but I hate the feeling of metal on my teeth, it's the worst. So, when my dentist recommended that I get my wisdom teeth out, I put it off for a year. Finally, they started to be uncomfortable, so I knew I had to "bite" the bullet. I went to three different oral surgeons for a consultation. Belmont oral surgery was my pick for one reason. I would be put under during the procedure. The other places offered twilight sedation. Based on my friends getting "Twilight", I knew that you would be semi-awake, and that wasn't enough for me. Dreading the procedure for weeks, the day finally came. I went in, they put in the IV, started talking about my job to me, and then.... I woke up in the recovery room. So, I don't remember anything about the procedure. That's great. Next, it's been three days, and I can say, I am not in any pain? My girlfriend got this procedure done at a different facility and she had a swollen mouth and a lot of pain for 3-5 days. I even stocked up on mashed potatoes because I didn't think I'd be able to eat for a week. Well, the day after my procedure, I had bacon and eggs, and worked out at the gym and went to work no problem. My swelling is almost nothing, and I'm not in any pain at all. The office is very straight forward and not exactly a "spa-like" atmosphere as some of the other facilities I went to for a quote. The front desk staff is kinda, "Sit down, fill the form, and wait" and less like the more "high-end" offices I went to that offered me Fruit infused water and snacks and stuff. But that's OK, because this place has much better results and a cheaper price. Overall, I made the best choice coming here. Yes, it doesn't have high-end decor, a staff that will baby you, and all the bells and whistles of a chestnut hill office, but this place gets the job done the best. Like I said, it's day three, and I'm not in any pain. At all.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE please please avoid. The staff and especially Dr. Eckert (I only saw the father…read morenot the son) were extremely unprofessional and made me feel so uncomfortable. I actually cried once I returned home. I came in looking for a consult on a single wisdom tooth that has been bothering me. Dr. Eckert came in and immediately started pushing for me to get all 4 out: that's not what I came in prepared to do, so I was trying to ask questions about why I would need all 4 out when only one was bothering me. One of his quips when I asked why I would need all 4 was "only 10% of people get to keep all 4 of their wisdom teeth"???? okay?? how many people have 1 out, 2 out, etc? I feel that if I'm signing up for a surgery I'm allowed to ask as many questions as I want, but at a certain point Dr. Eckert said "I'm sensing some hesitancy and honestly, I don't know why." Maybe for a dentist the procedure feels mundane, but again, I'm allowed to be hesitant! I'm allowed to ask questions! And I shouldn't be shamed or gaslight into thinking I'm being ridiculous for asking questions! Another thing I kept asking was if I could just do the 1 or maybe the bottoms, as I see no reason to take out the tops (they haven't even started growing in yet). Dr. Eckert just kept saying "I don't know why you would do just 1 right now, because then you'll have to come in 3 more times to get each one out" what a ridiculous comment to even come out of his mouth. Of course I don't want to come in 4 times to take each out 1-by-1. That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if I can tackle only the ones that look bothersome now, and reassess with the others later in life. They're my teeth, I'm allowed to decide which ones I want taken out!! Listen, I understand what his perspective is. He thinks all 4 will eventually start to bother me. Whether he's right about that is the subject of intense debate. The surgery is very invasive and having all 4 out will make the healing process more difficult, so I was hoping to avoid taking some out if they weren't bothering me right now. If 10 years from now they do start to bother me, great, fine. I'll take them out. There was no room for this perspective in that office, I'll tell you that! Finally, a note on the front desk and assistants, who were no better. There was a debate about whether to do full anesthesia or laughing gas. An assistant told me laughing gas wouldn't be covered by insurance. When I was checking out, I asked if I could please get a quote for both the full anesthesia cost and the laughing gas cost so that I could determine which one works better for my budget. They took SO MUCH offense to this request (even though it's literally my money and I'm allowed to ask how much the procedure will cost), and never gave me the second quote. When they finally got back to me about a cost it was for all 4 teeth (how many times did I tell them I didn't want all 4 out!!) and it was completely unspecified whether they had quoted me for full anesthesia or laughing gas. I definitely did not get 2 quotes. I cannot stress how entirely unprofessional my entire experience was. I sincerely hope dealing with the younger Mr. Eckert is a more pleasant experience. Please avoid this practice at all costs, they did not convey a respect for the patient like I would have expected, they just wanted to get as much money out of me as possible.

I found this guy to be anything but 'warm and friendly". I don't need a dentist to be my best…read morefriend, but he was somewhat condescending and not especially compassionate. I never felt that my emotional trauma was taken seriously, and after reviewing my account history,…read moreit is obvious my dental PTSD was indeed ignored and never taken seriously. Things came to a head when I wrote an email to the office manager saying I had an unsettling and chaotic appointment, detailing what transpired. The response I received was shocking and infantilizing. There were many ways she could have responded or even apologized, but instead, my complaint was blamed on my PERSONAL CHALLENGES, yes, she wrote PERSONAL CHALLENGES! She ignored most of what I wrote, like how I was still upset that the last person who took X-rays left me with cuts and sores in my mouth for weeks, how I should not have paid for the X-rays- ZERO acknowledgement of this issue. I waited a few weeks to look at my records because I was still upset from our email exchange but now after reading the notes in my records, I am sick to my stomach. Exact notes including the soooooo and sooo from the person who cleaned my teeth. 6/16/20 -pt soooooo anxious about me cleaning her teeth today, she is sooo afraid of #8 falling out. Not noted, #8 (new tooth) fell out TWO TIMES. Yes, I was a hot mess (still am) with anxiety because of the tooth falling out TWO TIMES. 6/17/21- Patient's anxiety is very irrational due to having had an accident when she was 6 years old. WRONG and inaccurate - I was in the SIXTH grade (not 6 years old), I fell and knocked my teeth out while ice skating. It was during this time that my childhood dentist, Dr. Lucia of Lynn, MA, abused me while under sedation and was eventually arrested for insurance fraud. His shoddy and negligent work led to years of ongoing dental issues, which will continue for the rest of my life. I shared this information. I shared again and again that ANYONE in my mouth causes me anxiety. Even my last note is wrong. 2/29/25- patient NO SHOW. Not noted: 11/12/24 - I left this appointment in tears. I did not make or confirm my next appointment. I was devastated that I had a cracked crown and angry that the dentist did not discuss my gums after having had gum surgery in August. I may not have had a voice when I was in the SIXTH grade, but I have a voice now.
