From there she decided that she wanted to try out for company. She's been part of company for the past 3 years. The teachers and owners are amazingly talented people who put love into everything they do. If you are looking for a "Dance Mom" school where people are yelling or putting the kids down then you'll need to go someplace else. If you want a fun loving environment where the parents get along and help each other out and the kids are friends and get along, then CoD is the dance school for your family!

She was shy and did not like change so we would sit out of class and watch until she was comfortable. She quickly adapted and became a vital part of the CofD company in her high school years and has gained genuine friendships with the other dancers; and I have enjoyed being part of the kind-and-down-to-earth dance moms. Teachers like Marco, Kelsey, Hillary, Sharon etc have challenged and guided my daughter into a beautiful dancer and person. Tasteful costumes and trendy styles and music were a plus. We CofD!

She literally ignored me while I spoke to her and said, "I am not listening to youuuuuu." I brought my child here so that she could have some fun with a friend. My child has been on stage in recitals at church, so I knew she was ready. The day that I brought her in for a trial to see if the class was age-appropriate I was pressured to decide on site if my child wanted to participate in a recital in May (which cost $100 per costume and $150 in recital "fees". I said yes only because they assured me they'd worked with kids before. They couldn't even keep her in the room. They have a range from 2.5 years to almost 6 in the same room, having them stand in one spot for an hour with different instructors each week would sit and just give orders to the kids. In any case, the owner treated me so poorly, berated and ignored me as I tried to open a line of commutation with her. The receptionist is someone who is approachable, but any level of professional or even human treatment it stops there. They offer a summer camp, which is laughable. Who would trust their children with you? Hey T and L, no matter how many times you flag or try to remove my review as you have the others, I will save it, and repost it. This is a matter of principle and you shouldn't get away with treating people this way nor should you have access to children if you don't know to to speak to people.

I know that the training I received at PPAC is the reason that I was able to go on and have a legitimate dance career in the professional world. This studio got me ready for my dance training in college and I owe it to the fabulous faculty and guest teachers that were always there to help us. If you have a child that wants to dance and make a profession in the performing arts, I highly recommend starting at Plumb.

(In private may I add because it was sensitive information.) I did not agree with everything she said regarding it but I was assured that I could ask to sit with the director and watch the recordings if it would make me feel better because "he has nothing to hide." My child LOVES dance. We go to 3 studios including this one and she is always excited to go to the other two studios. Fast forward to today, the third class. My child does not want to go. She doesn't even want to get out of the car. She compares her teacher to the principal from Matilda and tells me that her instructor forces them to do the splits when she is unable to get to the full position. You don't have to be a dance pro or a doctor to know that, that can lead to injury. I express my child's feelings to the front desk and ask to see the last class recording just to see what's going on and make sure everything is okay. Front desk is very nice and say I'd probably have to wait until the next day or next week since the director had classes. I told her that was fine. Director ends up coming in early. As soon as I saw him you could tell how this was going to go. We all 3 go into a room and I repeat my request to him. He snaps and says NO. That how dare I come and insult his studio, that I'm bad mouthing him, that I'm looking for a problem, that I just want attention. How dare I question them! He practically kicked us out for asking to see the previous class recording. Then back tracked. He came at me questioning if I was a pro and where I trained when I expressed that I just wanted to make sure they weren't risking inquiry by forcing the kids straight into positions they're bodies weren't ready for. He said I signed a paper where it says they will take whatever approach they want to teach the kids. I did not back down because how are you going to come in like that over a simple request. What happened to not having anything to hide? There was so much more including him saying that the rape of the 16 year old girl 2 years ago was "consensual" when I brought it up to explain the previous conversation I had with the front desk where I was told they had no issues showing the recordings because that was the first thing that I had to discuss with the front desk to ask what steps they were taking to make sure the kids were safe. Horrible experience. That owner has major issues.

We just finished our first season with CFAZ and feel like I can give a candid review…read more My daughter spent years doing gymnastics through various community/req style programs. Then a year or so through a satellite location of a major valley gymnastics gym. I could tell she was bored, and frankly...she was not progressing. After some research, we decided to try cheer. We went into the season with the intention of joining a non-travel, but during evaluations, the Coaches asked if we would consider putting our daughter on a more competitive travel team and we went for it! If you are new to the world of All-Star cheer as we were...it's super overwhelming at first. There is a significant time and financial commitment from families, however it is pretty well laid out up front in the parent handbook. I've learned in connecting with other Cheer parents (across state lines and other gyms) that this is generally what is to be expected of the sport and not specifically a CFAZ thing. That all being said, reflecting on this last year, my only regret is that we hadn't discovered this program and enrolled our daughter sooner!!! She has LOVED every minute from the very first pre-eval clinic, to the time she finished her last season's performance. YES-- the physical gains from this year are evident. She has grown in all aspects of the sport- but the real value is in the intangibles. Cheer has taught her the importance of team (which as an only child carries a lot of weight with us), discipline, and most of all...it has unlocked a confidence that we hadn't seen before. She (as well as WE) have met some wonderful new friends and families along the way. She has had the opportunity to work with many of the coaches at the gym either from her team, classes or private lessons and they all bring their own unique qualities to the program. If there is one negative to mention its that there is definitely a learning curve for new families. I think many families start in a Prep team to learn the ropes-- so perhaps it was just us jumping right in, but I did wish there was maybe a "All Star Cheer 101" for new families. But even putting that aside, you eventually figure it out. Tips for any new families considering joining this crazy world of All-Star Cheer-- We highly recommend CFAZ!! Recognize that the program's priority is focused around the kids-- not parents. Trust in the process- the coaches will see more of your kids' progress and abilities than you will. Don't be afraid to ask the questions if you have them and find some good veteran families to help fill in those educational gaps along the way.
