Scott is an excellent instructor. Don't let the opportunity to train with him slip by.

Awesome place to train. Scott and his staff provide a welcoming training environment that's technical and fun for the entire family.

I used to love this location (Fairfax) of Kaize . However, recent changes have made me decide to…read morepull my kids out and go to a different location. My kids are in the youngest age group (under 7). They used to be taught by adult Sempais, and I could see them gaining skills, self control, respect, etc. But this location recently changed to allowing older kids to serve as Sempais and run the class. These kids don't have any experience with teaching children - they're still children themselves. The focus of classes has shifted from learning skills to just "conditioning" - running, sit-ups, push-ups, etc. And these child instructors just don't have the self-control to serve as instructors. At the end of most classes, the Sensei/Sempai ends with a fun game to conclude on a fun note. But recently, the child Sempai leading a dodgeball-type game got carried away and way too competitive and was throwing the ball full force into little kids' faces. I saw a 4 yr old get slammed in the face (by the Sempai) so hard she fell down. And the Sempai appeared to like it and continued to throw full full force at other 4, 5, and 6 year olds. That was the breaking point for me. The other Kaizen locations are good, and we'll stick to those ones.

I am enrolled in the Muay Thai program here at Fairfax Karate. It is a great program and I am in…read moremuch better shape than I was before. I may even consider taking an amateur fight. Najim, the coach is great. He is very technical in his instructions but still very understanding that it takes time to learn the techniques. Plus he has a strong competitive record: Multiple Sabaki (full contact Enshin Competition) wins and multiple Muay Thai Titles. It should be noted that some of the techniques are modified compared to pure Muay Thai to more of a Dutch style of Muay Thai. The classes run one hour, with about 10 minutes of warm up and stretching, about 40 minutes of technique training, and then about 10 minutes of calisthenics at the end. The varieties of techniques vary class to class ranging from the very basics to sparring for the more experience students. Also available are: Children and Adult Karate - I don't know a ton about these but have seen Najim coaching the children's classes and the kids seem to be learning alot of good techniques and still having a ton of fun. Also Enshin Karate, being a combination of kickboxing and Judo, does teach many techniques that are very real world usable should the students need them in an actual self defense situation. Gracie Jiu Jitsu - These classes are taught by Toney Waldecker, a blackbelt under Relson Gracie, son of Helio Gracie - the inventor of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. I don't know a lot about these classes either but Toney seems to be a very good trainer and Relson visits the dojo a few times a year it seems.

One of the…read morebest decisions that I have made as a parent is enrolling my children at Battlefield Jiu Jitsu two years ago. Coach Jason as well as his coaching staff are excellent at teaching school age children and challenging them to be their best. The class incorporates the right amount of structure, discipline, physical fitness, and fun. There is always a good number of coaches on the mats so that each child can receive additional personalized guidance. Students are evaluated individually and promoted accordingly you won't get an eleven-year black belt here everything is earned not given. In addition to the awesome training environment the coaches are amazing human beings. Battlefield Jiu Jitsu has fundraisers and donates to charitable causes. The annual Christmas party is something that all the students look forward to every year. Battlefield Jiu Jitsu personifies the essence of martial arts and it shows in the coaching staff all the way down to the lowest belt student. If you are considering enrolling yourself or your children in a martial arts program look no further......... get down here and talk to coach Jason and start your 30-day trial ASAP

No, that' is incorrect information as I never once indicated my son had MMA experience and that is…read morea flat out lie. As instructors you are to ensure the safety of children that are in your care. You failed to do that as mentioned, I saw no activity from the instructors when my son was choking. This happened repeatedly and you should be ashamed of yourselves for calling yourself an instructor. At the start of class, your main concern was to get your liability form signed so you can negligently not take care of those who signed their rights over within your martial school. Animal control should be called for your aggressive dogs that you have open to the public. As you clearly said, "don't get too close" that enough tells you they're not safe to be around the public. The schedule you mentioned is only good for your school as you can maximize profits and not have to entertain different scheduling. So what if I pay the same price for my son attending your school half the time? Right? It's all about money first. My son was not safe and I would never ever not for 1 million years, bring my son back to your school. Your school should be closed to negligence. Parents please be aware and watch these instructors very carefully as I believe their actions speak for themselves. See if they are engaged or they hang out my the clock and focus on a countdown timer. As far as instructions, and from AI, from a child psychologist's view, young kids thrive on clear, consistent guidance but don't always need constant hand-holding. In martial arts, they might need frequent reminders early on to master steps or focus, especially if they're under ten. Structured repetition builds muscle memory, so gentle cues help without overwhelming them. As they grow confidence, ease up to encourage independence. I guess the instructors Ego's are more important than what's good for young children.
