Do not come here. The second you become a patient at this…read morefacility you cease to be a human; you become an insurance payment. Before I came to this facility, the nurse liaison, Sarah, sold me on this place. What a phenomenal salesman. She knew I was eager to get Good physical therapy. I've been diagnosed as a partial quadriplegic. I've held the deep belief that I could improve if I could get the right physical therapy. She convinced me that would be the case here; I would receive the best physical therapy, with the best facilities, with the best trainers. I'm on my seventh week without physical therapy. Why? The same Sarah is also somehow the one responsible for getting my letter of agreement to the insurance company. For seven weeks she simply hasn't done this. Why would she? I'm not a person after all, I am an insurance payment. If you happen to run into Sarah, she is a great spinner of stories; none of the stories are true. I was getting RNA until they head-trainer Frank, canceled the program. In a phone conversation with him I tried to explain that I thought there was a miscommunication in regards to the cancellation. He repeatedly talked over me. Not letting me get a word in He repeatedly said, "I don't care what you have to say, I canceled the program." Frank's favorite things to do are moping around and watching TV (not training patients). Recently after coming back from PT I had a new roommate. The roommate I recognized from a previous facility. He assaulted numerous employees: kicking, punching, even throwing his own feces. He is not sane. Imagine the shocking horror I experienced when walking into my own room and finding him feet from my bed separated by a small curtain. It took less than an hour before he threatened me telling me he would **** me up. k*ll me. These aren't empty threats. He has further assaulted at least two employees here. A nurse heard this and he was moved to the room next to mine. We now share a bathroom and a door that links our rooms together. So he can now walk into my room and carry out his threats whenever he's so decides. Imagine the fear and anxiety that are my constant companions in this godforsaken facility. This man can walk, i am partial quadriplegic. I am not safe here. It's hot on my side of the facility because they keep the windows open to outside. Why? Because the stench of urine and defecation is so strong and overpowering coming from this patient Room that the windows have to be open to mitigate the smell. He urinates and defecates in his bed. He refuses to be washed or cleaned -and with the threat of assault who would want to clean him anyways. The administration regularly has 5 CNA's on the floor for 74 beds. That is 14.8 patients per CNA. That is budgeting patient-care out of the building. "They got it", says Jay the administrator when made aware of this predicament. No Jay, they don't. Jay is the third administrator in the year-plus I've been here. Patient- care (or a lack there of) is at an all-time low. The collective morale contained within this facility is at an all-time low. Experienced employees are being fired or leaving and being replaced by 22-year-olds with zero experience (why pay an experienced CNA when you can hire a one with no experience for much cheaper). One of these was put on the floor without finishing orientation in a section he had never had. The incompetence and carelessness of this administration is concerning, it's frightening. My quality of life in this facility is one of constant anxiety, sleepless nights, and complete the dehumanization. I can go on and on with the truth about this place. About how, for instance, I was pushed out of bed by a CNA who said I fell out of bed because of my "bad attitude" (does that mean she did it on purpose?). A new administrator who didn't introduce himself (Jay)came in my room and told me he wanted me to "feel safe" (not to be safe). The fact is: I'm not safe. Like a street preacher proselytizing, here I am trying to keep one person out of hell. Will I be further punished and denied physical therapy because I write this. I very well may be. So be it. If you read this, believe me: to lie in a bed here is to forgo your humanity. Don't come here.

I completely understand that choosing to walk in can mean a longer wait, and I was prepared for that. However, when I first checked in, I was told that because I had developed a rash, they would try to have me seen sooner and that I would be put through triage. Because of that, I expected there to at least be some communication if there was going to be a significant delay. Instead, I went up to the front desk at least six times asking if there was an estimated wait time. Multiple times, I was told there was only one person ahead of me--the first time being over an hour ago--yet I continued waiting without being called back. What made the situation even more frustrating was watching the entire waiting room fill up and empty out twice with completely different groups of people, while I remained there. Despite being told initially that they would try to get me seen sooner due to the rash, I ended up being one of the very last people waiting from two separate groups of patients. I understand that medical offices can get busy and that emergencies and appointments can affect wait times. However, after waiting for over three hours, repeatedly being told there was only one person ahead of me, and watching numerous people who arrived after me get called back and leave, I was left feeling extremely frustrated and overlooked. The lack of communication and transparency about what was happening was unacceptable. A more honest explanation about the delay would have made a huge difference. Unfortunately, I came in hoping to receive medical care and arranged my entire day around this appointment, only to spend hours waiting with no clear answers about when I would actually be seen.

I arrived five minutes early for my appointment. An urgent matter came up, so instead of taking my call inside and disturbing the patients and staff in the waiting room, I stayed in my car and finished the call in the parking lot. I walked through the door just three minutes after my scheduled appointment time. That three minutes apparently mattered more than the fact that I had already arrived early, was physically on the property, and was making an effort to be considerate of everyone inside. The receptionist refused to honor my appointment because their grace period is TWO MINUTES. I'm not exaggerating--that's the policy. What makes it even more absurd is that she acknowledged how unreasonable the rule was, yet still refused to make any exception. Meanwhile, patients can apparently be expected to sit in the waiting room for 40 minutes past their appointment time waiting for the doctor. So the practice gets a 40-minute grace period, but patients get two minutes? That's not customer service. That's a double standard. I drove all the way there, arrived early, tried to be considerate, and still ended up leaving without seeing the doctor because I was three minutes past the appointment time. Thankfully, there are plenty of other healthcare providers who understand that patients are human beings, not clock-in punches. I won't be returning, and I strongly recommend thinking twice before choosing a practice that treats its patients this way.

She came into my postpartum room extremely rude and hostile, didn't even smile, didn't even congratulate me. She was very condescending and seemed to want to make me feel intimidated based on her job title, once I even found out what her job title was after our altercation... She demanded to me rudely to turn my TV off because I kept asking her to repeat herself, even after my infant was crying over her and I couldn't hear her, I wasn't even aware she was the social worker because she did not state that, she must have used another term but I was unaware she was the social worker when she introduced herself and her job title to me, not once did she say "social worker". After she left I asked the nurse when the social worker would arrive and they told me that she was the social worker. Her name was Ganell? Or Janelle? I felt like she made decisions based off her own personal dissatisfaction and judgment toward me, and was extremely unprofessional and power driven, keeping me at the hospital and preventing me from being discharged as some form of personal punishment for not taking her attitude very well. I even overheard that based on her judgement; that I might have to stay until Monday, and the stress has been killing me, for reasons she kept me, she didn't even inquire about, or even ask me to explain anything regarding her own concerns. I came in Wednesday at 6cm dilated in active labor around 3am and have another child waiting for me at home. I've been here basically 3 days and counting and I feel like I am in a postpartum prison. I don't understand why they cannot continue investigating my case at home and let me go home. Even a lot of other staff members and nurses are confused that I am having to stay so long and were surprised that I was no longer able to discharge based off Miss Janell's orders and "discomfort" of me.

He ran tests and took x-rays…read more An unexpected admission to Palomar Hospital was required, due to multiple serious conditions unrelated to the broken ankle bone. The 'admission' was to the ER department's hallway for 2 days. All due to lack of available beds and supposedly, understaffing. There were many, many sick people in the halls. Many were elderly. They partitioned-off areas lining the halls with 'admitted' patients just waiting for a bed. There is no doubt the hospital has state of the art architecture, it's a newer hospital, and it's all shiny and attractive. But not all shiny things glow. We were finally given a private room in the hospital's 'Crisis Stabilization Unit', located on Floor 9 West. * NURSES: About 65% of the RNs we were working with at this hospital are not shiny, happy people. That high percentage is so disappointing and concerning. RNs require having a kind but strong, caring personality and attitude. Each RN on a typical shift has only 4 patients. The patient's care suffers and it shows by the RN's lack of interest. They're simply there to collect a paycheck and to socialize amongst their peers. Likely, they are unserious about their jobs. Don't even get me started on the Prima Donna's, both female and male! * DOCTORS: There is little communication between doctors and staff. During a 2-1/2 week hospital stay, our family member was assigned to 3 (too many) different 'house' doctors. When each successive doctor doesn't pass along crucial information to the next doctor, healing for the patient goes wayward. It's a messy system that barely works. These are serious issues. And that's what's currently happening at Palomar Hospital. Because of those two issues, I would recommend any other hospital if you believe you will need to be admitted.

My experience with Graybill keeps getting worse…read more More than a week ago, I tried to schedule an appointment with my regular primary care physician, whom I've seen for nearly eight years. I was told he had no appointments available until June, so I was scheduled with a PA I had never seen before. On the day of the appointment, I arrived five minutes late because of traffic. The receptionist was immediately rude and said, "You're late." I apologized and explained that I was stuck in traffic. She replied, "Well, they're very strict," and told me to sit down. Two minutes later, she told me the provider wanted to reschedule. I declined and said I would be filing a grievance instead. After I left, someone else from Graybill called me. She was also rude and unapologetic. While I was speaking with her, I had Sharp Health Plan on the other line and merged the calls. When the grievance manager asked whether the office has a grace period for late patients and whether patients are told about each doctor's preferences in advance, she said that policies vary by doctor: some will not see a patient if they are one minute late, some will see a patient if they are 15 minutes late, and some will even see a patient if they are two hours late. She then claimed that patients are always told these policies and are also told to arrive 15 minutes early. That was not true in my case. I never received any reminder or notice telling me I needed to arrive 15 minutes early. I still need medical care and am now left trying to figure out whether I need to find a new primary care provider. What makes this even more frustrating is that Pamela responded to my previous review and told me to call, but she gave me the wrong number. I later got the correct number from my primary care physician's office manager, called it, left voicemails, and never received a return call. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone looking for a new medical group to think twice before choosing Graybill. They strive to provide the worst in patient care quality.
