I understand Wooster Ohio is run by an Internet mafia, but this is unacceptable, the most expensive 10MBps and they can't even keep it going. I was on the phone with them for over 3 hours! and they hung up on me. Occasionally it will hit close to 10 but half the time it's down or runs under 1mbps, I have included photo proof. They say the line is fine, and blame your computer as if you are downloading some magical internet killing file. Half the time I can't even pull up youtube or netflix let alone watch a video at 240P. This is by far the absolute WORST isp internet provider I have ever seen, AOL dial up was more reliable 20 years ago. read more

I have to agree with the other commenters here wholeheartedly. Century Link is - by far - the absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with. (They make AT&T & Verizon seem wonderful by comparison!) A ZERO star rating would be too generous; only negative stars would be appropriate. From the first call I had with them to request service, to the very last call to cancel the service and dispute charges, every single interaction with their Customer Support has been infuriating. Be prepared to be on the phone for at least an hour and be disconnected or transferred accidentally at least twice. (And you can forget about using their online customer support!) First, they called to "confirm" my request for service. The woman was unintelligible and rude and I thought that she was a prank caller or had the wrong number. When I asked the caller to confirm her identity she hung up on ME! Then she apparently marked my account request as "fraudulent" thus SUSPENDING my account mid-setup. I then had to go through the entire painfully long setup process again. Then the router delivery was late. Then it took them an additional week to "activate" the service. (Apparently their tech guys don't work on weekends.) When the connection was finally established it was WAY slower than promised. I cancelled almost immediately and returned the router. It took them three weeks to send me the return label for UPS. In the meantime, I printed out my own label online and sent back the router myself, foolishly thinking I had finally washed my hands of this whole wretched affair. Can you guess what happened next? That's correct! They never processed the return of the router and sent the balance to a collections agency... I spent another 45 minutes on the phone with them today, got passed through FOUR different reps, each time having to RESTATE what I was calling about, and verify my account info. (They claim that they finally cleared out my balance, but somehow, I doubt they did.) In my time as a Century Link customer, I literally spent more time on the phone with their incompetent customer support than I spent using their excruciatingly slow, overpriced Internet. My advice to you: DO NOT GET CENTURY LINK. If you are a new subscriber, GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!! I'll help make it easier. This is by far the worst internet service provider of all time. Charged me $55 a month for a full year and promised 50mbps, only received 4-6mbps. Then after the year they were supposed to mail in my CenturyLink check of $100 for the deposit I paid. I switched services from them and was no longer using them. Instead, they applied my money to my account - which is specifically what they said they wouldn't do. I'm not lying when I tell you they are the absolute worst internet company of all time. 0 stars, 1 star, are nothing. Should be rated -100. Have had issues where technicians said they would show up between the hours of 4-6. Never showed. Slow speeds, lie / false advertising, stolen money now. Will be heading on over to the BBB next to raise a formal complaint. Will contact them tomorrow to raise a formal complaint again. If nothing is resolved, will file a suit against them. I attempted to call the "customer service" line three times and have been hung up on. I am not even a current customer but my new neighbors must have had it installed today. The service tech did ring our Ring doorbell but we were not at home. I have no issues with the fact that he entered our property to do his job but he left our back gate unsecured when he left. The camera has him leaving it wide open. As a dog owner this could have resulted in them getting out. read more

Awful company to work with. Overcharging for services, and when you want to switch, they delay, delay, delay so they can keep overcharging. They ended up disconnecting my 85 year old parents landline, instead of switching the service to another carrier, over the weekend when no one was in their customer service department to contact. Thier service program is the pits. Expect that everything you say and do is wrong in their eyes. I was lectured by a service person over the phone because of all the computers in my home, I don't own one with a network plug (We run only M$ Surfaces and tablets here). Also was told that my modem may go down at any time unexpectedly and without prior warning to do updates and may or may not come back up again after the update.. DO NOT USE IF POSSIBLE. And as a P.S. you can get double the internet speed and a land line cheaper with Time Warner Cable. We noticed on the weekend of Jan. 9 that our internet connection was very slow and behaving oddly. Looking at the modem log files showed us that something was wrong so we called CenturyLink to see what we could do about it. CenturyLink looked at our hookup and determined that we would benefit by a new plan that would more than double our internet speed and help our phone line. We set a date for Thursday the 14th . I was to be there 8-4 to let a technician in. He didn't show and CenturyLink told me he had never been scheduled for Thursday but was scheduled for Monday - which I never would have done as I had some things to do Monday. After much arguing and threatening to leave CL, I managed to arrange for a tech to be out to the house on Friday. He showed at 9 am and left at 4:30 pm. Most of his time was spent waiting on phone calls because the central office of century link did not do their job and provision the central line to work with my house. I have now wasted 2 days. THe tech (Tad - a very nice guy and seemed to know what he was doing) managed after about 10 phone calls to get the connection running for the weekend. Monday the DSL went down again. I went through the first level of support - it was clear she didn't know what was going on, a second level supervisor, who couldn't seem to understand basic computer and networking terms - requested her supervisor, who at least knew how to parrot tech terms to me. This one told me that the modem went out on Monday because it is a new modem and without warming to me or centery links knowledge, decided it was going to upgrade its firmware. THis is a scary procedure in the best of times and NOT SOMETHING YOU DO IN A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT until you got it right. Of course the update failed and my modem didn't come back up. THe super did some sort of mumbo jumbo (and wouldn't tell me what it was he did) and the modem came back up. I asked that the auto-update be turned off on my mode and got (it is impossible to do that - everybody who has worked on a network knows that there is a lil switch that can turn it on and off. I was GUARANTEED that the modem would not go out again and that ALL updates would be done on off hours. An hour later off line goes the modem - this time for 9 hours due to an improperly provisioned line. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU NEED MISSION CRITICAL INTERNET - CENTURYLINK CAN"T SUPPLY IT. I was not offered an apology or reimbursement for my offline time nor the time I had to take out of my busy schedule to be there for century link not to show up read more

This is regarding their phone service. I need repair and I have called every day for 5 days and talk to at least 4 people and have been put on hold. I cannot contact them via on line chat , e mail or anything I have literally spent 12 hours this week on hold or talking to them NO RESOLUTION read more

As of now it's 1 star. We will see what they do aft my calls I made to them this after noon about their mistakes... I called from IL in May looking for service for my home in Avon Lake. We were told we could get their highest speed internet service at our home so we set up a date after our vacation. I get a call while on vacation from the company asking if he could come set up service today because he's there in the area.(5 days early) he also informed me that they couldn't give us the fastest internet it was actually the slowest because of where we lived. So I cancelled, no problem no mention of fees. Fast forward to today. I'm getting bills in the mail for services we don't have. The lady on the phone stated we cancelled on the day of installation... Mind you, was not the date we booked we we're over 500 miles away. And how could this company bill us for services that are not even in our home?? Worst company ever. read more

I want to give 0 stars but that isn't an option About to rant... Centurylink is a scam! You will see their flyers for "$29.99 Internet with no contract" Do not fall for this! I did not want a contract because I wasn't sure how long I would need their service so this was definitely something that sparked my interest! Called in and set up service with a $10 equipment rental fee (no biggie). My first bill was around $250! I had to get on the phone and argue with them about the cost being way more than the flyer. They Changed some settings and got my bill down to $150 setup fees etc. should be $60 monthly but if you sign up for autopay it's $50. Sooooo I set up autopay... Don't do this ever! I ended up moving out and kept paying for two months even though I wasn't able to use the service because I misplaced the equipment in the move. I found said equipment and sent it back but they continued to charge me after that. I called on July 27 to figure out why and they basically told me that the account was still opened and that if I close it I would be charged $200 cancellation fee because I was under contract! What! I signed up for this for the perk of not having a contract! An hour later after arguing with this poor lady that I know was just doing her job (pretty sure I ruined her day) they finally waived the fee. Fast forward to today August 25th and imagine my surprise when I see that my account is in the negative roughly $200 because I was charged by.... CENTURYLINK! This cancellation fee for a contract that I never signed up for. Called and they could not reverse the payment so now I have to fax proof that the payment cleared and proof that I was charged an overdraft fee as a result of this charge that I should never have been charged. I wish I would have checked the reviews before as I see several other people have had the same issues with this company. read more
