I tried everything: my family doctor prescribed anti-inflammatories and rest, which I followed for nearly six months. But as soon as I tried to lift anything again, the pain came right back. Next, I saw a sports medicine specialist who referred me to physical therapy. After weeks of treatment, I still had no relief. Out of options and frustrated, I started researching online and came across Active Release Therapy (ART). Dr. Akin was listed as a certified provider, so I figured I had nothing to lose. From my very first visit, Dr. Akin was attentive and thorough. He listened carefully, gave me a full assessment, and told me he believed he could resolve my issue in 6-8 visits. I'll be honest--I was skeptical. After a year of failed treatments, it was hard to believe this could be fixed that quickly. But sure enough, after just 6 sessions, the pain in my elbow was gone. I was able to return to working out and even started competing in Spartan Races. Since then, I've continued to see Dr. Akin--not for injury, but for regular "tune-ups." I had migraines since I was a kid. He's walk in... it's on his door As an established patient you call to make an appointment and even then you wait your turn. As years went by YOU WAITED but it was ok. He was the best. Maybe a year ago I called out of courtesy (I had a HORRIBLE MIGRAINE) didn't just show up... I said, I need to come in at 4 o'clock I have a horrible migraine. The gal, I really don't know who she was. Was indignant that I would pretty much say I had to come in at that time.! she told me they were booked completely. I asked to talk to the other girl I think her name is Jessica she's been there a while. She knows me when she got on the phone. She says I heard that conversation. I heard how you were speaking and we are booked. (to be clear yes I was expressing my need to get in. I had a horrible headache and needed an adjustment today. I could not wait!. I was not yelling. I was being firm. Remember I've been a patient there for decades probably before these girls had been born. I asked to speak to the office manager, who I knew she is the doctors sister-in-law. Jessica said let me get her. Jessica came back and said she's busy and since she's busy, I am the acting office manager and I say that you need to get a NEW CHIROPRACTOR we will not be seeing you here anymore!! and she hung up on me. I called back. I could tell the phone was answered and someone was there, but they would not speak and hung up on me again. I called back again and nobody would answer the phone. WOW! No way to speak with Dr. R. Kelly Mabe about the situation no way to speak to Deanna, his office manager, his real office manager of decades. Within a few days, I got a letter in the mail that was basically a cease and desist letter that I could not call there come in there or anything. It was legal letter. All on the word of this unprofessional young woman. I would think that Chiropractic offices would be held to a quality of care when a patient is in extreme pain!! These two should have asked Dr. Mabe? Jessica held the managerial power that day...
