Not a crisis. It's about time to paint both again, and we're not calling them for a quote, so figured we'd say that part out loud. Olson was also easy to communicate with, and tactfully accommodated my dad's idiosyncratic requests about prepping technique. They exactly matched the trim color to the new windows, and were able to start and finish within a couple weeks of providing their original quote. We would definitely use them again.

We had been contemplating removing wall paper and painting several rooms for a long time, but suddenly we wanted it done fast (we'd been asked to host a day-long academic conference). My wife had heard good things about CertaPro, so she asked for an estimate and explained the time pressure. Kevin, the color analyst and sales manager, came the next day. He gave us excellent and detailed advice on color options, made very thoughtful recommendations, and agreed to provide separate estimates on each of the rooms. We were so impressed with his knowledge and professionalism that we accepted his bids on everything, which were very reasonable. Sarbelio and Ishmael, the painters, arrived a few days later and worked diligently to complete the work in a week. Both men were remarkably friendly and courteous, and did everything they could to work around our schedule and make their presence unobtrusive. This was no small trick given that we have two boisterous and barking dogs. They are extremely hard workers, very quality conscious, and didn't need supervision, although Soumil, the owner, and Kevin would drop by to make sure everything was going well. Soumil is a conscientious businessman, and when the painters discovered mold under the paint in the bathroom, he came and provided a detailed explanation of why it was there and what needed to be done. The extra work cost us a little more (surprisingly, not much), but nipped a problem in the bud that might have gotten much worse. I try to provide balanced reviews--the pros and the cons--but in this case there were simply no cons. The work was completed with time to spare, and my wife and I were very, very impressed and pleased. We recommend CertaPro without any qualification whatsoever. read more

The stress that we went through trying to determine and make a decision regarding painting the entire interior of our home, picking out painters and not being overcharged or feeling "raped" was enough to make us a bit crazy. So many companies out there all trying to convenience us that they could do the job. As I scheduled appointments and trying to get estimates, it became easier to make the decision to use CertaPro. From the first meeting and consultation the representative was professional, accutate, honest, and competitive. The proposal that he left for us for further consideration had all of the supporting information including referrals of prior customers, proof of contractor's license and worker's comp, etc. A week later, we were able to make a decision to select CertaPro as our painting contractors. The job took almost an entire week to complete. The painters (employed by CertaPro Painters and not subs) were considerate of our belongs and their clean up was wonderful! We could not be happier with the entire experience and the painting job as well. Also, the price quoted and agreed upon was what was paid. There were no surprizes. We recommend CertaPro without hesistation and if we had to do this paint job over again, we would certainly not stress before hand and we would choose CertaPro Paitners. read more

We have used CertaPro for both interior painting and exterior painting. We just finished the exterior painting and it looks great! We really wanted to finish before summer and CertaPro was able to start the job a bit earlier than originally discussed. They provided great customer service for helping choose colors and explaining exactly what they were going to be doing (especially with the exterior since there is so much in addition to the actual painting). The work is excellent and the customer service is very good-always easy to reach and helpful. The guys onsite were curtious, polite and hardworking. They kept things on schedule and did a great job. The work area was always kept clean and they stuck to the schedule. They always asked if we had questions or if we wanted to discuss anything. Wilson was our forman. We did our interior work first and requested the same team for the exterior job because we were so pleased. Soumil and Kevin run a professional, good business and offer great services. I highly recommend Certa Pro Painters, owner Soumil Amin. Soumil's crew (foreman, Everardo) is the best painting crew I have ever worked with. They just finished painting my parent's 2 story victorian (12 foot ceilings, full attic, full basement) whose exterior had been neglected for almost 2 decades and they did an outstanding job. The house is now elegantly beautiful again and the work was done with such care from Everardo that I'm sure the paint will last my lifetime (I am 62 1/2 years old). Everardo and his crew were courteous, respectful, hard working and trustworthy. He came through on every work he said he would do and his attention to detail is remarkable. He assisted my husband in some of the carpentry required to restore missing wood and molding and the two of them have made the house a joy to behold. We have used CertaPro Berkeley for our painting needs several times. This most recent was indoor painting including the kitchen/kitchen cabinets. They were professional, careful and had great knowledge of exactly what was needed in this laborious process. Our kitchen, entire upstairs and our ceilings/trim in the foyer and stairs look fabulous. Eduardo/Alex were our painters. Deon was our main contact for our quote and to ensure everything went smooth. We had our floors refinished the week before painting. I saw some of the work that CertaPro did at the church that I goto, Berkeley Covenant near the Monterey Market. They did a really nice job, and seemed to clean up well after themselves. I had them do the painting work to the outside of my house. We have a early 1900, tudor style home, lots of prep work, and lead. They masked everything off, covered my plants, and did an excellent job. The foreman, Wilson, knocked on my door every morning to check in. The job took a few days longer than it was supposed to, but I was really surprised by how far they went to make sure I was happy all the way to the end of the job. read more

Mine was a small job, and they fit this into their schedule within a week. Soumil and his crew showed up on time and we did a walk-through together. Juan was the foreman on the job, he spoke English, which was a huge factor, as there were so many things on the outside of the house which I was not sure about, and he helped me work through them. They did an excellent job scraping and preparing the house, the last time I painted was 17 years ago. He spent time with me to make sure that everything went like I wanted it to. Just had my 100 year old Rockridge two story craftsman and adjoining apartment building painted by CertaPro's Eduardo and Ronald. CertaPro's price was about 15% higher than other estimates but I had seen their work in my neighborhood and chose them. Fabulous job start to finish! Got several bids. I am very happy that I chose CertaPro (Oakland). They also accommodated the use of a special brand of paint (Benjamin Moore in the matte finish, and eggshell for the bath). I can't stress how much I appreciated this, having had other workmen and teams either leave the area a mess for me to clean up, or damaged other parts of my property. Wilmar and team never did this! - Thorough prep, quality products and work - I had one issue with the stair paint peeling up after it rained and Wilmar did not hesitate to come out and make it right (and even fix a spot on my drive way that I'd messed up.... stepped through caulk and tracked it around) The house looks great. I went to Yelp to review the painting contractors in my area who also did repairs for dry rot and siding. I selected three contractors with a rating of four starts and above and scheduled an appointment with each of them to view the house. Within a week I received all three proposals, and I reviewed and compared them to ensure the contractors were providing the same services. Two of the proposals came in with a higher cost and the third was lower for the same amount of work-- so I selected the latter, which was Rayco. In addition to the great rate, Tony L. arrived early to the appointment for viewing the house and we had a great rapport. After we selected the paint scheme and received approval from our HOA, we scheduled the work to begin the last week of June. Tony L. and his team arrived at 8 am with their equipment and porta potty. He introduced me to the team and said that the first day was to power wash the house. I asked him if he could also power wash our cement, and he said that it can be spotty. I told him that it was okay, and he obliged. Tony L. and his team communicated with me every day to let me know if there were any issues we needed to address and consulted with me about the paint scheme. The team was very professional and hard working: they did a great job painting, repairing the dry rot, and the siding, which was about forty to fifty percent of the work. Each day the team made sure to clean up the area to ensure its safety. It took a week to complete the job, and they even worked on July 4th. During this time my wife needed to paint the interior of her tea business. She had just signed the contract for her space and needed to get her business up and running within a month. Lucky for her I was already working with Tony L. and recommended that she speak with him. She scheduled an appointment with him, and they met at her new space. After they met, he provided her with a quote, and she accepted it because his cost came in much lower than the previous quotes. Tony L. and his team completed the paint job within a week. We have received so many compliments about the paint job and color scheme. In short, I would recommend Rayco because Tony L. and team are great, they have the expertise and knowledge to get the job done on time and on budget. Their work is excellent!

But here is why I will continue to highly recommend Omni. I noticed the other day a strange peeling on the rod part of the railing. At first I thought someone had scraped it. But no, the paint was actually peeling. I focused and saw it on different rods. I took a snapshot and sent it to Omer and he called me instantly and Dee came out and verified it. Dee returned with one of his great crew and they are working on it. Now that is a very very good business when they respond like that. We can't figure it out, was it a bad can of paint, why is it only on the rod portion. Carefully looking at all 3 levels, it's the same pattern. But Omni didn't hesitate and are graciously resanding and painting.

Colorblast is the worst! I used them 2 times to paint the exterior of 2 of my rental properties and…read morethey seemed to do okay for a fair price. Then I hired them for a pretty big interior job painting my mom's house (who had passed away) including all interior, cabinets, removing popcorn from ceilings and paneling from 1 wall. I don't know where to begin. They took weeks to complete, which they never did. They flooded the floors, including the subfloor under the carpet, which the flooring installer later had to dry out to install the new floors. They was drywall mud and paint slung everywhere over the house and they painted over hinges, outlets, random light switches, alarm sensor, took down the fire alarms wired to the alarm system after removing the popcorn and sealed up the ceiling without replacing them. They didn't cover new doors and casings just installed by a finish carpenter, the doorbell case, or AC controller. They covered up all the AC & heater vents and turned on the heater, not once, but 2 more times after being told not to. They again turned it on with the return open with no filter so all the dust would go into the system with no filter. The walls looked like they were half way painted with primer or just not painted. The owner, Nathan, texted me in the middle of the night with rude messages. He told me that the house was just going to be sold, so why did I care if it was a good job. They left their food and junk all over the house and there was paint residue in the front yard, driveway and down the street. I gave him several chances to fix what he had done. It got to be too much damage. I paid them half of the money promised. I then had to pay another painter the full amount, plus much more for all the damage they had caused. I had to replace all of the outlets and light switches because so many were painted over, there was no recovery. They refused to return the 4 mirrored door railings that they took to remove all the paint they got on them. They are custom doors and I had to pay over $900 to get them replaced. When I tried to discuss it with Nathan's wife, the co-owner, Amanda, she threatened me with a mechanic lien against my property. They caused so much stress and so much damage and additional costs, I strongly advise anyone against using them for anything. The way Amanda treated me after finding out all of this happened, made it even worse. In my opinion, they are dishonest and terrible people from the owners down to the crew. I have so many photos and other workers that were there who can attest to how bad they really were!!!
