I contracted Edward Glasser, CertaPro of Edison in April of 2024. to paint my house. Included power Washing, sealing areas around windows, above awnings, filling in areas around the doors and correcting previously flaws in the red running paint on front door.In every conversation Ed, he presented himself to me as the actual painter. I made it very clear to Ed repeatedly that I had no knowledge of the house painting process, and the absolute reason that I went with CertaPro as my choice because of their guarantees, advertised promises and values none of which Ed, CertaPro of Edison afforded me. Instead I was being bullied for payment when to date there was never a final walkthrough as required in the contract to show the sloppy, unprofessional, unfinished work that remains. A lien was placed on my house. I then got my attorneys involved. Eventually, Ed and CertaPro of Edison agreed to fix the many problems, repaint the house and remove the lien with all payments made promptly when completed .Finally, the end of a most horrendous experience. Soon after Ed and CertaPro of Edison reneged on their own proposal. I intend to have this resolved in court. It was very difficult to talk to Ed. He was constantly agitated by my questions. I told Ed about of his attitude towards me as it caused me great frustration, contrary to what I expected from a CertaPro "Professional" I later realized that Ed, CertaPro of Edison didn't seem to have the most basic knowledge about painting. I stayed because of the CertaPro name and promises. Ed "professional painter" sent me links to choose my paint color. I later learned from The Paint Professionals at Lowes, Home Depot, Behr, Sherwin Williams and individual painters that those links are NEVER RECOMMENDED for selecting paint colors. I had every reason to trust Ed's "professional" knowledge when he said the color I wanted would look white in the light and suggested one shade darker would be a better choice, but it is still my choice". read more

My only complaint was that when he folded up the drop clothes all the dust from sanding the spackled walls got everywhere. He did his best to vacuum the room but it was everywhere. I was impressed with Ed Glasser - he was professional and courteous. The crew that came to paint was horrible. My job that was scheduled for 5 days took 10 days and many things were left unfinished. I just couldn't have them here any longer. One bathroom, living room, dining room, den and 4 bedrooms with closets were to be painted. Shelves and poles in closets were not done or removed entirely, bottom of walls in doorways were not painted to the bottom. They worked with sheetrock dust from sanding everywhere, paint drips and spray from rollers all over floors. and window sills. They were to remove a wall paper boarder in bathroom - just painted over what they could not easily remove. Would never recommend. read more

If I could give them a 0 star I would. Jon, (although a nice guy unlike his Ed) is clearly a newbie to the scene and not equipped to understand drywall repair when working with walls that previously had wallpaper. His lack of experience lead to his team skim coating our walls, which then went onto bubble over the course of the week. What he had failed to do was have his team wash off the glue. Rookie mistake. We even said to him before work had begun that we would clean the walls - he assured us his team would do it. When called back, we were informed that it was to be expected. We weren't told that at the start but ok, we accepted it and had the crew came back and 'fixed' it. Over the course of the next few days the bubbles and cracking got worse. We halted full renovation in our walk in and master bedroom, which had a full knock on affect from things like painting, installing baseboards, carpets and new furniture. Me, my husband and my little girl all slept on the floor in the spare room for months because of them. Long story short, we called out his boss, Ed. He came into my house with a whiff of arrogance and anger that was extremely offensive and was the complete opposite of how he was prior to us signing a contract. Where was the customer service now eh? He walked around and blamed us for the bubbles and said because we hadn't gone for the full package of having them also paint, it's not their fault. How does that make sense? We paid for drywall repair. A simple enough job for a professional if done right. We didn't see the need to then pay them $600+ to paint our walls. He was covering his back and making up lies as he did not want to pay his team out of his own greedy pocket to come and correct their mistakes. They never did finish off the work. We had to hire a real professional, a local team, to finish the work off. They too called out the shoddy workmanship and advised us not to work with them as they too had heard not good things about their quality and their customer service. We were given some money back, but this was only after weeks of complaining, emails, texts and calls. They took the easy way out and instead of fixing the mess they made, felt it easier to leave us to fix their mistakes. I want to add that the team that did all the hard work were great. Some did complain about the pay (amongst other things about how they operate) and also felt that that the Project Manager clearly didn't know what he is talking about. When a team speaks low of management, you know that it's not a good sign. I also want to add that they left dust on my staircase, there was no end of day walk around, no project manager walk around, and no end of project walk around. It's all in the BS sales talk they do prior to signing the contract, but the reality is very different. I've gone above and beyond to make sure no family, friend or neighbor of mine uses this terrible service. With so many people I know purchasing homes in this area, I'm glad I was able to put word out and have them work with another company before they fell into a trap like we did. We went with these 'professionals' as we thought they were just that - professionals. They are far from that. read more

I am scheduled for the work to be done starting today but nobody showed up and they are 3 hours late and counting. I called the office and left messages for Ed and Stephanie an hour ago and still waiting for a call back. I also called Kevin, the supposed foreman and the number is not in service. It doesn't look like I'm getting the work done after my wife and I took off to be home. I guess I won't be getting my work done today and I won't be using CertaPro Painters for any work going forward. Stay away from this business at all cost! There was nothing professional about the way they conduct themselves and the work performed on the exterior of my property was disappointing and unacceptable! They were seldom on time and a job that should have taken a week to complete took 2 months! Ed Glasser, the owner of this franchise made an attempt to place a lien on my property while the job was incomplete. The men he sent to paint the exterior failed to show up on time! They power washed, scraped and sanded but they never caulked. So when they painted, they left a rough surface. In addition, they managed to paint several walls two different shades of the same color. Certa Pro is anything but professional but they do use Benjamin More products that if applied properly can produce an outstanding job with a single coat! That was not the case with Certa Pro. They found a way to screw that up! Not to mention the mess they left behind! I had to get after the owner to get his men to clean up! Ed the owner refused to correct the many issues that I had with the noticeably poor job that was done. However he agreed to send a crew back to correctly paint one side of the house exterior the correct color but it took weeks to get them out to the site. He decided to send them out at his leisure! At this point , I had had enough of his shenanigans and asked him to repaint the whole house but instead he pulled his non-English speaking crew off the job and went straight to the courthouse to file a lien against my property for payment. Well, there was no way he'd have a leg to stand on with that! Especially, since the job was noticeably incomplete. So he decided to repaint. Although I'm still unhappy with the whole ordeal and the finished product, I paid Certa Pro just to get them out of my life! I am so disappointed with this company that I certainly would never recommend Certa Pro to anyone! I could have painted it myself and done a better job!!! read more

We have had this company work on our previous and current homes. When we sold our last home they buyers loved the area Ed and his team did work on and said it was the deciding factor in purchasing the home. They helped us completely change the look of a large room in our current home in record time. They use high grade supplies and the results are just what we wanted. I hired CertaPro of Edison earlier this year to paint the first floor of my home. At first Ed seemed very detail-oriented. His price was a bit high but I felt confident in his ability to do it right. We went through every detail, and I specified that I wanted the hardware of my cabinets removed during painting. It was in my contract. When the painters arrived it was clear they either hadn't read Ed's notes or didn't receive them. I expected them to confirm everything beforehand, but they acted as though they were hearing the information for the first time. They said they would not need to remove the hardware on the cabinets - I didn't push it as much as I should have, thinking they're the experts. Boy was I wrong! They missed a lot - like two coats on doors and caulking. They spilled paint along the perimeter of the floor throughout my house, dripped paint on wood furniture, and neglected to caulk quite a bit of things that should have been caulked. At the end one of the workers poured out excess paint on my grass. Ed returned about a week and a half later to inspect the work and missteps. The painters returned about a week after that, and I kept having to remind them to use drop cloths and not rinse their paintbrushes in my bathroom sink. They tried to get the dried paint off of the floors and scrape it off the hardware but it was too little, too late. In short, it looks like I painted it myself, you'd never guess it was professionally done. For what I paid I wouldn't use them again. read more

I wish that I had seen the negative reviews regarding this company prior to hiring them. The low quality of work and professionalism does not in any way justify the high price for such shity workmanship. They show up late for the job. It takes approximately eight hours to paint a space the size of a walk-in closet. I think they do this in an attempt to justify the high price. I don't know of any professional painter that paint in low light conditions. What happen to external lighting. Could that be why so many mistakes were made. Painter claimed that he painted all the walls. But I was able to show the owner and the painter areas of the walls that were clearly not painted. I kept photos of everything for my records. Owner agreed with me that there was a problem with the paint job and that he would be returning with the painter to correct it with additional lighting to be used. But when he did return, no additional lighting was used and the owner went along with his painters excuses for the poor job. The painter was pissed about having to do the job correctly and got rude and had to be put in his place. I would suggest that the next victim have every thing spelled out in the contract and be prepared to take him to court (small claims) for breach of contract. This type of businessmen has to be placed in the light so others will know who they are. Good luck. read more

The team of three painters arrived exactly on time. They were careful, proficient, and neat. They cleaned up thoroughly when they were done. When CertaPro had trouble collecting its fee from the contractor we used--the contractor hired Certapro, we paid her in full, she was contractually obliged to pay her suppliers--Ed Glasser, the owner filed papers that enabled him to bring a lien against our property (on the market for sale) for the outstanding amount. After receiving the papers we contacted him: he admitted that he had started the proceedings only in order to involve us so that he would get paid sooner. The painting job that his company did was fine. But his methods of doing business are awful. read more
